Here is something you
do not see every day, a gorgeous original 1982 Lincoln Continental in
exceptional condition. This car has been
pampered, garaged, and treasured all of it’s life. The 1982-87 Lincoln Continentals are seldom
seen today, they are a rare body style; the ’82-83 cars are the rarest of them
all. They feature very different styling cues when compared to the later cars, particularly
in the front end treatment. Perform a Google
search for these two model years and see how many you find for sale in any
condition, let alone in remarkable original condition like this one.
This car was custom
ordered by its original owner in a very elegant color combination. The understated platinum exterior is accented
by bold burgundy/red bodyside moldings and burgundy/red dual band pin stripes. The sumptuous leather interior is a gorgeous
deep blue. Wide whitewall tires are
fitted to the original alloy wire wheels. This
Continental is STUNNING and turns heads wherever it goes. People ask about this car constantly and
often comment that they have never seen one before.
The paint is gorgeous
and holds a beautiful gloss, a testament to it’s 100% garaged pedigree. The only notable exterior flaw is one small ding
on the rear wheel well molding (see photo). The interior is immaculate and supple; it could almost pass for a car with 22,000 miles.
Please examine the perfect dash, steering wheel, and spotless trunk. The
only flaw is a small tear on the driver’s seat (see photo). The car is in better cosmetic condition than
most 4-5 year old Camrys.
The car is an
original Southern California car and remained there until I purchased it eight
years ago and moved it to the Seattle area, as a result there is absolutely no
rust anywhere (see undercarriage photos).
It has just under 122,000 honest miles on it, which translates to just 3800 miles per year; very low mileage for it’s age. One feature that makes the
82-83s more desirable is that they do not have the
problem plagued and complex front and rear air suspension that was standard on the 84-87 models, yet it rides so smooth and quiet you would think it does. It also has Ford’s reliable, durable, and
economical 5.0 (302) V8 with Ford’s fine 4-speed automatic overdrive
transmission. This drive train, coupled with the
Continentals smaller size, make this a really nice modern drivable
collectable. It starts, idles, drives and shifts
beautifully. All power accessories work, including the
trip computer. The AC blows cold.
I have owned this
Continental for eight great years and I’m really going to miss it, but I am now
downsizing my collection of cars. The
time has come to find this wonderful 1982 Lincoln Continental another fine home
and for someone else to enjoy it. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a
really nice honest and original example of these cars. You will be the only kid on the block with one of these! It is in excellent condition and can be shown with pride immediately. Included with the sale of this car are the
1982 Ford Motor Company Service Manuals that cover all Fox Body cars, including
the Lincoln Continental.
The car is 32+ years old, so obviously it is sold as
is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I have tried to describe the
car in the best detail possible, but I may have missed something important to you.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have BEFORE bidding. In
person inspections are welcome and can be arranged.
A
$500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction.
The balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Wire transfer for
the balance is preferred. Cashiers or personal check is okay, but
verification of clearance will delay the release of the car. I am happy to work
with your shipper once the car is paid for and I can provide indoor storage for
the car up to 30 days after the end of the auction. I reserve the right to
cancel all bids and end the auction early for local sale. I am happy to
work with International buyers. Please keep in mind car will need to be paid in
full and clearance of payment will need to be verified prior to the car being
released for transport.
I
have had the same eBay id for nearly 9 years; my feedback speaks for
itself. This is a 'no surprises' car.

We've now seen the Lincoln MKX Concept in the metal, and we've shot it with the lenses of our own DSLR cameras. And we have to say, our opinion of the concept's design language has improved over our initial reaction. Yes, it's clear that this MKX shares its underpinnings with those of the Ford Edge Concept that we saw in LA, but the changes made by Lincoln stylists are a welcome departure from the angular lines of its corporate cousin from The Blue Oval.
We like the subtlety of the MKX Concept's front fascia, and the lighting elements both front and rear lend a luxurious quality to the crossover's typical two-box proportions. When combined with the smaller MKC that was shown in production form late last year, it's clear to see that Lincoln has a specific design direction that at least seems visually capable of setting it apart from the Ford models with which the brand shares its platforms. Here's hoping there are some Lincoln-specific upgrades underhood...

The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
