Up for auction is my 1975 Lincoln Mark IV "Blue Diamond Luxury Group”.  It has the 460-4V (7.5L) V8 engine and the C6 three-speed automatic transmission   I am the second owner of this Mark IV, having purchased it from the estate of the original owner, and it has just over 33,000 original miles (as of the date of this auction).

This is one of the rarest and most expensive Lincolns ever made to date (by 1975).

The only engine available in the 1975 Mark IVs was the 460 cubic inch, four-barrel carbureted V8.  Other notable standard features (working fine unless otherwise noted) are Sure Track Braking System (predecessoto ABS) with FOUR wheel power disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power seats, automatic temperature control AC system, Sure Track. All gauges, dash lights, radio and clock work as they should.

My Blue Diamond Mark IV has the Aqua Majectic velour seats and headliner (RPO code FK), and the desirable forged aluminum road wheels (these are restored original wheels with matching center caps with all the screws to hold them in place. Also, new tires have been put on recently for a pleasurable soft and quiet ride.  Other optional features on my vehicle include power remote trunk release, cruise control, rear window defroster, tilt steering column, interval wipers, power antenna, and the AM/FM 8 eight track stereo system. This Blue Diamond also has the optional limited slip rear axle (Positive traction) with 2.76 gears which has just been serviced in May 2013.

This Blue Diamond Mark IV runs and drives excellent, just like you would expect from a low mileage vehicle. A recent tune up was done for spring in April 2013. This included new cap/rotor, wires, plugs, air filter, oil change and filter, pcv valve, air cleaner breather element, fuel filter, caruburetor tuned up by a reputable Carburetor shop, vacuum hoses checked for proper routing and function, new vacuum valves and timing checked. A new heavy duty radiator has been installed and the car keeps cool even on the hottest summer days, thermostat and hoses have been changed, It just made a 2000 mile drive from Lake Worth, Florida to Toronto Canada without any issues.  The AC/heater system works excellent with a new POA valve installed and system recharged.  The velour seats show very nicely with no rips or tears, The door panels, dashboard and interior trim are in exceptionally nice condition with no cracking including the door assist handles.

Per my close inspection of this car, the original owner did refinish the vehicle in the late 1980's or early 1990's.  Possibly due to a minor accident or possibly due to door dings/dents etc.  The finish remains in exceptional condition..not "perfect", not "showroom" but very very nice as shown.  The vehicle has no evidence of structural rust damage or repair on its frame or major body panels. There is a little surface rust coming through at the very bottom of one rear quarter panel and lower edge of the vinyl roof on left and right sides. However, this is very minimal and the car can be enjoyed just as it is for many years to come.

All the chrome external trim is in very nice and straight condition with no dings or dents, there is some minor damage to the drip rail molding where someone tried to break into the car (which I have a NOS replacement molding that will go with the car).  The headlight doors operate and stay closed for several weeks without starting the vehicle

The "Valino" full vinyl roof is original, and in excellent condition .  The roof is not separating from its chrome trim molding as frequently occurs if these cars are not garaged or taken care of over their lifetimes.

A Blue Diamond Lincoln Mark IV is just not going to come up for sale very often.  The few that remain out of the limited production   vehicles built do change hands on occassion, but not very many are in this highly original, low mileage, exceptional condition.   As an added dose of uniqueness, this Blue Diamond The car was originally purchased by Stephen Abramovich of Queens NY, the DSO shows it was delivered to the New York district sales office. This car is believed to be one of the FIRST Blue Diamond cars to be ordered and built as it is manufactured in October of 1974, thus it does not have catalytic converters that was mandated for 1975.

If you know your Lincolns, you know exactly what this car is.  If you are not familiar with it, perhaps you can still see yourself behind the wheel?  In any case, I sure hope my Blue Diamond finds a good home with an owner who appreciates it for what it really is..a striking example of American luxury automotive history that will hopefully be preserved for many more years to come.

this exceptional 1975 "Blue Diamond" Lincoln Mark IV is a rare, original, low mileage classic Lincoln and it is priced "accordingly"...not "insanely" but consistent with what the better, rarer Marks actually appear to be selling for.

Ford to ramp up Lincoln rollout in China in bid to catch rivals

Thu, Apr 12 2018

DETROIT/BEIJING — Ford Motor Co's premium Lincoln brand plans to build as many as five new vehicles in China by 2022, according to two U.S. sources, in a move to expand sales in the world's largest vehicle market that would also blunt the impact of trade U.S.-China trade spats. Ford has said it plans to build an all-new sport utility vehicle in China by the end of 2019, however the company has not detailed future production plans for the Lincoln brand in China beyond that. "Our localization plans to support the China market are on track and will serve to further drive Lincoln's growth in China," Lincoln spokeswoman Angie Kozleski said. "Beyond that, it would be premature to discuss our future product and production plans or timing." Sources familiar with Ford's production plans told Reuters the automaker now expects to begin building the new Lincoln Aviator in China in late 2019 or early 2020, along with replacements for the MKC compact crossover and the MKZ midsize sedan, followed in 2021 by the all-new Nautilus, which replaces the Lincoln MKX crossover. A fifth model, a small coupe-like crossover, is tentatively slated for production in China in 2022, the sources said. Ford has much to lose if the war of words over trade between China and U.S. President Donald Trump escalates into a full-blown tariff war. Last year, it shipped about 80,000 vehicles to China from North America, more than half of them Lincolns to support the brand's growth. All Lincoln vehicles that Ford now sells in China are brought in from North America. Even if China does reduce its 25 percent tariff on imported vehicles - as Chinese President Xi Jinping promised on Tuesday - it is not clear that would mean a big, long-term increase in Fords and Lincolns made in U.S. factories heading to Chinese showrooms. Ford is pursuing long-range plans to build more vehicles in China to serve a market that is now roughly 60 percent larger than the U.S. market, and projected to keep growing. But it is playing catch up to hometown rival General Motors Co and German luxury brands including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which have invested heavily in Chinese production in recent years as a form of insurance against trade, political and currency gyrations and to lower price points for their premium cars.

2017 Lincoln Continental: Was this mic-drop moment just a big flop?

Thu, Jan 21 2016

The Lincoln Continental may have been our fifth-place pick for Best In Show at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but it's probably the one we argued about the most. In fact, we're still talking about it. And we'll no doubt be discussing it long after we finally get to drive the new sedan later this year. We do this with lots of cars, all the time. The Continental is an especially important, high-profile car right now. It has the task of being a torch-holder for the struggling-to-run Lincoln brand, and that's a tough job these days. But did Lincoln do right by its Continental name? Did its Detroit showcar stop us in our tracks, or were we left feeling cold? In an effort to show you our full discussion, we're trying something different. About a week after the Detroit Auto Show press days concluded, Autoblog's Jonathon Ramsey sent an email around to some editors about the Continental to open a discussion. It got heated, and fast. And while we considered summarizing it, we decided to instead post the whole, largely unedited (adjusted for typos and swear words) chain. From: Jonathon Ramsey To: Autoblog Team Does anyone else think it's a problem that the new Continental looks 85 percent like the MKZ? And another 10 percent of it looks like a Jaguar and a Bentley? Because I think Lincoln screwed the pooch. The German Three plus Porsche can make cars that look alike – they've earned the right, even if I'd rather they didn't. The MKZ looks like a car for regional sales reps. Lincoln broke the glass in case of emergency, grabbed the Continental name, then put it on a car that looks a lot like that sales-rep car, but one for regional VPs. Do we really think this can work? Because I don't. From: Steven Ewing To: Autoblog Team Personally, I'm pretty disappointed in the final execution of Continental. I'm glad Lincoln isn't obsessed with chasing the Germans, but at this point, it's not even chasing Cadillac. I think that introducing the new front end and TTV6 engine on the MKZ before the Continental was a huge mistake. And while I have high hopes for the Conti from a comfort/driving standpoint, my gut instinct is that it's going to be more "better than the MKS" than "best American luxury sedan." Introducing the new front end and TTV6 engine on the MKZ before the Continental was a huge mistake.

Again? Ford issues second 2015 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ seat belt recall

Fri, Aug 16 2019

In 2016, Ford issued a recall for 603,392 2013-2016 Fusions and 2013-2015 Lincoln MKZs due to potentially faulty seat belts. Apparently, that wasn't the end of it. Ford announced another recall this week for the same issue, this time covering 108,399 2015 Fusions and MKZs.  In both cases, the seat belt anchor pretensioners are the issue. According to Ford, "increased temperatures generated during deployment of the driver or front-passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner could degrade the tensile strength of the cable below the level needed to restrain an occupant." Basically, heat could weaken the seat belts, and in extreme cases, they wouldn't be able to keep up proper safety standards. Ford knows of at least one injury that has occurred due to this issue.   The recall includes 103,374 vehicles in the United States, 4,002 in Canada, and 1,023 in Mexico. Possibly affected Fusions were built at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant between August 1, 2014 and January 30, 2015. The MKZs were built at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between August 1, 2014 and November 21, 2014.  As a fix, Ford says dealers will add an extra coating to the seat belt pretensioner cable for protection from the heat. If this recall might affect your vehicle, call your local Ford dealership and use recall reference No. 19S25. This news comes after Ford recalled 1.3 million Fusions and MKZs in 2018 due to the possibility that the steering wheels could fall off. Fusions have also been recalled due to the risk of rolling away.
