1968 Lincoln Continental Base 7.6l on 2040-cars
Richardson, Texas, United States
Up for sale is my dream car that has had a lot of time, money and love put into it… I’ve decided to pursue an Executive MBA$, so I need to liquidate asap… I’ve spent a fortune on it so far and I realize I’ll only recoup a fraction of the effort… I'm hoping for a great owner that will enjoy the car. The continental has only 2 documented owners. I even have the original line ticket, plus other documentation and brochures!!! It was a barn find that was saved and preserved (stored on jack stands and covered in a dry shop) until the restoration began. This is now a running, driving, stopping, great looking driver\project that needs the details completed to be a daily driver. The good to great! · A very high\expensive quality paint and body. The body is so straight with no waves, that’s hard to do, since its soooo long 221”….obviously no rust. One negative area, the diameter of a penny where the clear coat flacked off, on the hood. · Rebuilt engine 462 – under 500 miles on it. I start it up and drive around the block once a week or so. · Rebuilt transmission · New master cylinder and booster, and all new brake components · Professionally polished trim – one ding above passenger window · Re-chrome bumpers · New light lenses · New wheels · New tires · New glass · New leather seats - front and back, · New carpet · New leather headliner · New leather front dash, rear was not done yet What a start, all the aesthetics are complete… Adding the receipts plus a conservative value of the base vehicle that’s nearly 25K$... The future needs of the car- The vehicle is currently at a classic car dealer getting the electrical sorted out. I’m not sure how much they will complete prior to the auction ending. The car runs, drives and stops very well. But assume the lights, seat and power windows are not all functioning. Also, the AC is not holding Freon-but blows; they were tracking down the leak. The heater core and cruise control bladder need replacing. If I had the luxury, I would allow the classic car dealer tocomplete the repairs and ask a premium for car. But, unfortunately i need to sell quickly , so I'll have to hope a buyer has the vision I did for the car. Oh, since the car is at the shop, I'm not able to take additional photos of the interior or engine at this current time. But it is very clean! Best of luck, CW |

48-inch panoramic display kicks off Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience
Mon, Jan 22 2024Arguing against screens in new cars is a losing battle. Every automaker is working hard to boost the display real estate in new models, and the level of integration between cars and the connected world at large is growing rapidly. Ford and Lincoln recently detailed a digital development roadmap that places screens and software at the forefront of their ownership experience going forward, and it’s clear the pair view vehicles as another device in peopleÂ’s connected lives. Ford said the average U.S. household has 16 connected devices and noted that it believes vehicles should offer a seamless connection between them. The Ford/Lincoln Digital Experience features apps from Google, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and apps from Amazon, among others. The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is the current flagship for this technology, as it brings the brandÂ’s first 48-inch panoramic display, featuring the highest resolution ever offered in a Lincoln. The system serves as part of the SUVÂ’s driver assistance features, including BlueCruise, the hands-free semi-autonomous driving function. Beyond offering new features, Ford said the Digital Experience helps reduce distraction by letting drivers place the apps they use the most closest to their line of sight. Media, weather, and other information can be positioned in widgets on one side of the display to provide quick information, and owners can set up profiles to store different configurations for drivers. Part of the Ford/Lincoln tech expansion includes third-party app installations. The new system offers Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeartRadio, Prime Video, YouTube, and more. Google Play games are also available and can use a Bluetooth controller connection. Video conferencing apps will soon be available to let owners Zoom wherever theyÂ’re parked. The Nautilus is the first Ford or Lincoln model to get the Digital Experience, but others will follow. Ford said the system is designed for future updates and expansion through over-the-air updates and 5G internet connectivity. 2024 Lincoln Nautilus Reserve with Jet Appearance Package 2024 Lincoln Black Label Nautilus Hybrid View 41 Photos
Possible MKX concept teased as Lincoln confirms China expansion
Thu, 17 Apr 2014We've been speculating for years about the future of Lincoln. Some thought that Ford needed to kill the division like it did Mercury, while others saw the sales possibility in a brand with so much history. Ford has finally made a decision, and it wasn't what many people were expecting. Lincoln is launching in China this fall, with the brand rollout starting at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show. A new video hints that we might even get to see the concept for the next-generation MKX.
Lincoln is marketing itself in China as a customer-focused, high-end luxury ownership experience. To prove it, the Lincoln Space in Beijing is meant both as a prototype dealer and a grand show of its plans. The modernist structure looks more like an art museum than a car showroom, and the interior decor is like a high-end hotel lobby. The company says that every dealer is going to have license plate recognition technology that knows when an owner arrives, and there will also be a Personalization Studio where potential buyers can design their car with family. Lincoln is promising to have eight showrooms ready in seven cities by this fall.
Of course, a stylish showroom is nothing without cars to sell. Lincoln is promising five models on sale in China by 2016. The MKZ and MKC launch this fall. A midsize luxury SUV, a fullsize luxury sedan and the Navigator are coming later. All of the models sold there are being imported from North America.
GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]
Thu, 05 Dec 2013General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."
