1967 Lincoln Continental 4 Door Sedan with "Suicide" Doors - Only 42,000 MIles!

This is a 100 percent stock and complete, unmolested rare find.

MECHANICAL:

- Runs/drives/shifts/stops/starts fine

- Recent complete tune-up (plugs/points/wires etc) and fluid change

- Recent new brake parts/repairs

- Newly-rebuilt original carb

- New electric fuel pump/fuel lines/gas tank clean out

- Several new front-end parts

- Does have some exhaust noise and just developed a small power steering leak

BODY:

- Super straight sheet metal!- no dents or noticeable dings

- Finished in original "champaign metallic" color (repainted once with fading on top surfaces and scratches/chips here and there)

- Black "embassy" roof (replaced in past and fading/minor pulling away from one side of windshield  pillar)

- Minor rust along trunk lip, on lower bottom of passenger rear door, under vinyl top, and along both rear lower quarters (see pics for close-ups) - floors/frame etc all fine

- Driver quality chrome/brightwork (some fading on bumpers).

- Needs trunk lock re-installed (have it in a box)

INTERIOR:

- All original black cloth interior with no rips/tears in seats or door panels (except minor cracks on driver door panel arm pad) - fabric has some fading

- Crack in dash along speaker edge (as almost all 67 Lincolns have)

- Original carpet is in good shape - couple of worn spots here and there

- Headliner has a couple small holes (where it looks like something poked it)

ELECTRICAL:

- Car was in storage for a number of years with prior owner so many of the electrical systems need to be cleaned/attended to

- Windows are not working (driver goes down but needs help)

- Brake lights/taillights/dash lights not working

- Wipers have been disconnected (work but will not stop)

- Radio and power ant both work great

- Power seat working

Overall, this is a terrific, all stock, super straight, LOW mileage,  highly-collectible  "suicide door" Lincoln that just needs electrical repairs and cosmetic refreshing/restoration to be either a nice driver or great restoration piece (with more work).  I just do not have the time to work on this one at this point.

Please ask ALL questions BEFORE bidding as the car is NOT 100 percent perfect show piece and is not being held out as such - please feel free to come inspect the car before bidding as the car is sold AS IS with no warranties, express or implied.  Given the brake light issue, the car should likely be transported.  I am not interested in any trades.  Thanks!

Lincoln scales back free maintenance

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Complimentary scheduled maintenance programs have been great tools for luxury automakers to draw in new customers, but some are starting to scale their programs back considerably. According to Automotive News, Lincoln is joining Jaguar and Volvo on the list of automakers reducing the length of time it will be providing free maintenance to its customers.
Lincoln's four-year/50,000-mile maintenance program first kicked off as an incentive in 2010 and became permanent later that year, but starting with the 2014 model year, this will be cut to just two years and 24,000 miles. This could make short-term leases even more appealing for some consumers, but according to Automotive News, some Lincoln dealers are unhappy with the scaling back. The move admittedly comes at an odd time for Lincoln, with parent Ford seemingly working hard to increase consideration among luxury buyers as it looks to reverse the marque's long decline.

Ellen DeGeneres sends up Matthew McConaughey's Lincoln ad

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Lincoln had to have known that when it released its new ad campaign for the new MKC with Matthew McConaughey, it would open itself up to a bit of good old fashioned ridicule. The television commercial was, after all, good for a laugh or two. And true to their mission, talk show hosts haven't missed the opportunity to have a little fun at Lincoln's and McConaughey's expense.
Conan O'Brien was first to send up the television spot, but now Ellen DeGeneres has taken a stab at it too, superimposing herself in the back seat of the compact luxury crossover, downing some pot brownies and generally playing Costello to McConaughey's Abbott. It's worth a watch, if only to see Ellen getting down in her usual, offbeat style.

Farley says Lincoln learnings in China could influence brand in US

Tue, 14 May 2013

Automotive News reports Lincoln is looking to Chinese luxury shoppers for customer service ideas. Those notions may eventually make their way back to the US in the form of new dealership training. Jim Farley, the executive vice president of global marketing for Ford, tells Automotive News, "In many ways, China will be a listening post for Lincoln in the United States. Soon China will be the largest luxury market in the world." Farley also said that in China, the Lincoln brand is currently where Lexus was when the Japanese brand first landed in the US.
Lincoln is slated to open its first Chinese dealerships in 2014. The brand is largely unknown in Asia, and Lincoln representatives have been visiting other luxury dealers in China for an idea of what buyers there expect. Lincoln has also studied non-automotive luxury shopping, paying special attention to high-end retail branding.
Of course, this whole song and dance feels awfully familiar. Lincoln has focused heavily on remaking the brand and recrafting its marketing here in the States, thus far without sufficient product to back the play. Lincoln is already late to the China game, and without the necessary products to lure buyers away from established bodies like Buick and Cadillac, Lincoln may be doomed to repeat its fate here in the US.
