Up for sale is a 1964 Lincoln Continental with suicide doors.  I bought this car with hopes of restoring it but I won't have the time or money to do it the way I want.  My loss is your gain.

I bought this car from a private party in Rhode Island and in RI for vehicles this old you don't need a title so I DO NOT HAVE THE TITLE to go with the car
.  Please check your local laws as to properly titling this vehicle.  I did have the VIN run in MA and it is not stolen or have anything against it.

The body on this car is super straight and the metal is in 90% condition.  I went over the whole car and if it was hit or any bondo on it I couldn't find it!  There are 4 areas on the body where it rotted through and I have pictured them.  The spots with the rot would be very easy to fix and replace as they are on relatively flat areas.  The door jams, engine compartment, roof and doors are near perfect with only very minor rust.  There is also a small amount of rot in the trunk but not bad and easily replaced.  Someone had sprayed the under carriage of the car a while back with undercoating that is just now starting to peel off.  When I put it up on the lift there was only slight surface rust and no rot that I saw.  When I bought the car there was no hood and I hadn't bought one yet so it does not have a hood.  Also it will need a new trunk lid, the one that came with it was in ruff shape but I kept it and will be included with the car to use for parts.

The interior is in decent shape as seen in the pictures.  The dash is in great shape with no cracks or tears and all the original components are still there.  This car has not been canabalized!  The seats have aged and the leather has cracked but is all there.  The door panels are not on the door right now but all four are in the back seat.  ALL CHROME TRIM is there, the only thing not in the picture are the headlight bezels but I do have them somewhere.  ALL GLASS APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL and in good shape!

The only big down side to this car is the engine.  It's the original engine and appears to have seized at some point.  I had begun taking it apart to fix but had to stop.  I put all engine parts in the trunk for the time being.  The engine was pretty rusty and needs to be rebuilt by someone with more skill than myself.  All the parts that I have will be included with the vehicle.

This car is a great starting point for someone with the means and knowledge to rebuild it or use for a parts car to finish there project!  Don't miss your chance to own a piece of classic American automobile history.

Please email me with any questions prior to the end of the auction.  The car is at my buddy's garage so if additional pictures are needed I will try to get them.  Winning bidder must make payment within 7 days of auction closing and $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction ending.  I will help coordinate with shipping but it is the sellers responsibility to handle the transport of this vehicle.

Thank you for looking and good luck!

Lincoln debuts MKC ads starring Matthew McConaughey

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

Lincoln is making the decisive commitment that it wants to improve its brand perception going forward. It can't be cheap to hire A-list talent like Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey and director Nicolas Winding Refn, best known for Drive, for its new ad campaign for the 2015 MKC crossover, but the company is showing that it's serious about the new vehicle and its future. The first three of these five commercials are just hitting YouTube, and they begin airing on television on September 6.
The Live in Your Moment campaign is all about Lincoln trying to sell not just the MKC to customers but also explain the brand's philosophy. It's one of the oldest luxury automakers around, but hasn't exactly had a glorious history, especially recently. Based on these first ads, we can see that there's a definite focus on philosophizing rather than focusing on the crossover. At times, McConaughey seems just a mustache and a mangled beer can away from reprising his role from True Detective.
The first ad (above) is simply titled Intro and sets the mood and concept for the whole campaign. Bull has McConaughey talking to a longhorn in the middle of a road, and I Just Like It has him explaining his affinity for the brand. Lincoln's full release is available below, and you can view the other ads by flipping through the playlist in the video player above.

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

Ford hybrid sales rebound following MPG controversy

Sun, 31 Aug 2014

Ford hybrid customers apparently have very short memories. With two EPA fuel economy reratings in the last year, sales of the C-Max, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ haven't been too terribly dented, Ward's Auto reports.
All three vehicles saw sales dips following the August 2013 rerating, although sales of the MKZ Hybrid had begun to rebound as early as November of that year. C-Max sales, meanwhile, took slightly longer, with sales on a steadily improving course as early as February of this year.
The second rerating, in June of this year, has had an even smaller effect on the Blue Oval's hybrids. The C-Max has actually been subject to a sales increase, while both the MKZ and Fusion saw minor sales drops (less than 400 units between the two in the month following the rerating).
