1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible on 2040-cars
Arlington, Texas, United States
|
This is a rare 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible with bucket seats. The car runs and drives. I just spent 2500 dollars on carb rebuild and new brakes and a couple of other items. Please view all pictures and ask questions on anything and everything. The cars needs much work but for a few grand more you could have a decent very cool driver. The pictures make the car look better than it is to be honest. The panels are pretty darn straight but it will need a full paint job if you wish to have a shiny vehicle. There is a rust bubble on the right rear fender well. The rest of the body is fairly clean minus a ding or two. The bumpers have some rust as shown. The convertible top does not work. The motor turns and spins but does not engage the clamps above the windshield. The top is in very nice shape minus the rear window trim area which is coming apart but should not leak. The front power windows work including the quarter windows, the other windows do not. There are missing parts on the interior as shown in photos. Windows don't line up exact just based on the rear windows not working. The tail lights are not working or brake lights. I am sure this is an easy fix but cannot access since the trunk will not go up based on previous top comment. As mentioned it is a rare set up but this would be a better weekend cruiser than a full restoration vehicle as the cost would be astronomical. Items to address would be top, windows, lights then you could tinker and adjust thereafter. I have a box of little items such as the ashtray etc...There are alot of things that need tightening etc...so I hopefully think you get the picture.
As mentioned it runs and drives straight down the road and will make a cool driving, eye catching convertible with a little work but I am trying to give an accurate description so I won't get a "hey, I anticipated a really nice car and it is not". On May-18-14 at 11:41:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of questions. When I say full restoration I am speaking in terms of any classic. I have a beautiful 58 356a but to put to museum is astronomical. This car with paint, top etc would look fantastic as panels etc are very nice but just want to inform. It is not the condition that some of these 20k convertibles are but with about 5-7 it would be. My reserve is much lower than that as to afford the new owner opportunity for growth. I am taking a bath on this as the individual I bought it off of told me all worked. I would rather not invest any more money in it My reserve is half of what I paid and is worth it. |

Annie Leibovitz goes Continental for Lincoln campaign
Mon, Oct 10 2016Lincoln has a lot riding on the new Continental, and the company is now calling upon renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz to glam-up its new flagship. Her photos are part of a new series dubbed "That's Continental," which the automaker will use in high-end publications and on social media. Leibovitz's iconic photos have been used in magazines like Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, and she's photographed celebrities, politicians, literary icons, and landmark events. The new series for the Continental is Leibovitz's first attempt at car photography and it follows a road trip theme inspired by the trips she took with her father as a child. The photos for the campaign were shot in New York City with a group of non-professional models, including a musician, an artist, an actor, and a film director and his dog, Seven. "Annie Leibovitz is a photographer of substance," said Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra. "The rich, warm emotions her photos evoke, mirror the feelings we want our clients to experience on all of their journeys in the new Lincoln Continental." While we're still arguing over the Continental's looks, Leibovitz's pictures show the sedan at its best. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models
Thu, Mar 2 2017The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. China-market Ford Edge spotted testing in Spain with a mystery wagon
Thu, Aug 18 2022There are a few threads to put together for this one. The U.S.-market Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus have been rumored to meet their ends during the 2023 model year; contract negotiations pointed to the Oakville Assembly Plant that that builds being converted to build five Ford electric vehicles in 2025. On top of that, we've heard years of rumors about a Ford Fusion Active wagon-esque product that would challenge the Subaru Outback and fill a perceived gap in the U.S. lineup. We're not sure what the Ford vehicles in the spy shots above are, nor were the spy photographers who caught them during hot weather testing in Spain. And we mean vehicles, plural, details like the side mirror attachment points, DRL signatures, rear bumpers and muffler orientations pointing to these being two products. Here are our guesses. One of them is almost certainly the new Ford Edge that will debut soon for the Chinese market (above and below). Motor1 saw that the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published photos of that country's newest Edge in two configurations, a lesser trim that can seat five or seven, and a top trim that seats seven only. The camouflaged car in the gallery above with the mirrors that mount on the door would be the same vehicle. The headlights on the China-market Edge feature the same central, stacked DRLs instead of the single lower and side DRLs of the other vehicle. The taillights are temporary units, but they match the squared vertical design of the new crossover. And the rear bumper of the Chinese Edge features the same slanted cutout in the middle, and beneath that, the same enormous muffler on the driver's side of the car. Look more closely, and one can also spot the way the sheetmetal flicks up at the C-pillar then descends to the D-pillar. Engineers tried to hide it with camo, but it's there. Ford Authority believes the other vehicle, the one with the side mirrors mounted at the base of the A-pillar, could be a new Lincoln Nautilus. Ford's Changan Hangzhou plant in China builds the Edge and its sister Lincoln product for that market. Although both are presumed to be headed for the grave here, one is clearly carrying on over there, so there's no reason to believe the other wouldn't as well.    The big mystery is whether one of these is the Ford Fusion Active. Well, a bigger mystery would be to figure out if the Fusion Active is even a thing anymore, or if we — including Ford — collectively imagined it.
