1958 Lincoln Continental With Parts Car on 2040-cars
Doylestown, Pennsylvania, United States
1958 Lincoln Continental with matching parts car. It was originally bronze copper metallic with a fawn beige interior, 430 cid engine with automatic transmission, non posi rear, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, power windows, door locks, rear window, seats and trunk release. Car was in decent shape body wise. It had a rot spot at the drivers toe board from the window being down and rained on. I tore the carpet out and patched it with a correct replacement panel. The rockers were terribly repaired a while ago so I cut that out and fixed them right. The only spot that has bondo was a small crease in the lower quarter. I had the car media blasted to bare metal and you can see it there ( see pictures ), it has been finished. Car now sits in primer. I have everything for it except the air conditioning compressor and the original carb. I did find a correct carb center dated for this car which I will include. Currently has a after market Holley 600 on it. The car needs to be restored but is a great place to start. These are usually rusted bad by now. Runs, drives, stops.
The parts car I purchased to get the chrome and interior stuff, etc. It is also a continental. It has a 1972 ford 400 engine and fmx trans in it ( crudely bolted in but does run ! ), it has the rare Direct Drive posi rear, later front seats and console in it, otherwise stock. It runs, drives, stops. Really not bad of shape for a parts car, tender floors but not trashed. I wanted the extra bumpers, chrome, and such. I was going to pick the best of the two or make two into one and send them out for chroming. Selling together please. They are for sale locally as well. Please call with any questions before bidding. Sunday Drive: Trucks and SUVs of all shapes and sizes
Sun, Nov 5 2017The American automotive marketplace is dominated by trucks and SUVs, and so was the last week of coverage on Autoblog. By far, the most popular story of the week was our First Drive of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. It may look like an old-school lumberer, but in reality Lincoln's flagship is a thoroughly modern, turbocharged-V6-powered, three-row, luxury people mover. The Jeep Wrangler is the world's most recognizable vehicle. So it's no surprise that the next version looks a whole heck of a lot like the last one, and the one before. It's all in the details, which is why we were so excited when Jeep decided to unleash a trio of images showing both two- and four-door Wranglers for us to dissect ahead of the SUV's official debut at the L.A. Auto Show later this year. Past that, spy photos of the next Chevy Silverado and Ram 1500 were predictably popular. See both of those below, and the cap it all off, check out the entire week's worth of SEMA coverage – including the bonkers Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 – in our mega image gallery at the bottom of this post. Enjoy! As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2018 Lincoln Navigator First Drive | From black sheep to flagship 2018 Jeep Wrangler revealed: First photos released before L.A. Possible MKX concept teased as Lincoln confirms China expansion
Thu, 17 Apr 2014We've been speculating for years about the future of Lincoln. Some thought that Ford needed to kill the division like it did Mercury, while others saw the sales possibility in a brand with so much history. Ford has finally made a decision, and it wasn't what many people were expecting. Lincoln is launching in China this fall, with the brand rollout starting at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show. A new video hints that we might even get to see the concept for the next-generation MKX.
Lincoln is marketing itself in China as a customer-focused, high-end luxury ownership experience. To prove it, the Lincoln Space in Beijing is meant both as a prototype dealer and a grand show of its plans. The modernist structure looks more like an art museum than a car showroom, and the interior decor is like a high-end hotel lobby. The company says that every dealer is going to have license plate recognition technology that knows when an owner arrives, and there will also be a Personalization Studio where potential buyers can design their car with family. Lincoln is promising to have eight showrooms ready in seven cities by this fall.
Of course, a stylish showroom is nothing without cars to sell. Lincoln is promising five models on sale in China by 2016. The MKZ and MKC launch this fall. A midsize luxury SUV, a fullsize luxury sedan and the Navigator are coming later. All of the models sold there are being imported from North America.
Why Lincoln says it's loving Ellen and Conan MKC ad spoofs [w/videos]
Mon, 13 Oct 2014You would think that commercial being ridiculed across the Internet would be an advertising executive's worst nightmare, but that's not necessarily the case. At least not when it comes to Lincoln and its latest campaign to promote the new MKC.
The campaign features Matthew McConaughey channeling his characters from True Detective and The Lincoln Lawyer, and was quickly spoofed by both Conan O'Brien and Ellen DeGeneres. But instead of shaking their heads in dismay at the comedy talk-show hosts' take on their ad, Lincoln and its advertising firm Hudson Rouge welcome the free publicity.
"We're flattered. Just to get out into the public mind with parodies says you've achieved a certain amount of notoriety," Hudson Rouge CCO Jon Pearce told Automotive News. "It's hard to put a dollar amount on earned media. We couldn't ask for better."
