1992 Lexus Sc300 1jz-gte Vvti Swap Done By Grip Industries No Reserve on 2040-cars
Melbourne, Florida, United States
It's a blast to drive So - Grip Industries Swapped 1JZ-GTE VVTI with fully working Auto, working everything except A/C. 12X,XXX miles on the shell, and from what I was told about 40k kilometers on the donor motor. Not a drop of oil leaked, and no issues except the rear end wanting to kick out and rubber being left more often than not. The Good: The swap obviously, new body panels on the outside so only one dent and it's a small one in the back passenger side corner, and a big scratch in the spoiler on the drivers side. New Rims - 18x9 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear XXR's in the black chrome variety. New BBK on the front in excellent condition - actually all the brakes are perfect. New Toyos on the front with a stretch, Fairly new 265's on the rear that sit perfect in the wheel wells. New - Well 4500 miles on them now Megan Race coilovers New 4 Wheel Alignment TRD Seats fabbed up and thrown in - Lots of Extra Parts - LOTS 3 Differentials, shaft for R154, 3 door cards, interior pieces out the wazoo extra Automatic Transmission. HKS SSQV Big intercooler Blitz Boost Controller - control everything from gain, boost, overboost etc. Turbo Guage AFC Neo - the better one - not sure Meth kit in the car, not hooked up but would take a few minutes to get it hooked up. 3 inch turbo back to Megan Can - all done by Grip The Bad: She needs front bumper, body panel alignment, and paint. I have it good enough to be legal and was going to kit it and plasticoat it. The front half of the car is plastidipped right now and has lines, but this is temporary. new panels underneath:) A/C does not work - I have a dryer for it, and it needs a charge, one of the A/C controllers I have works - I just don't have it in right now it's in the parts pile that comes with the car:) Too much Power - seriously - it overwhelms the tires easily - it currently has the 4.27's with Open diff right now, I just got a 4.08 and welded it but haven't put it in, and I have a 3.92 open diff I was going to put a LSD in all go wiht the car. If you buy, we will fill up the back seat, the trunk - where the battery is mounted;-) And the passenger seat for your drive to leave the location. Interior is bad, and stereo doesn't work. It had a working stereo but in the process of making it look better, I took it out and put the stock one back in, now it doesn't' work. I don't care, exhaust and BOV sound too good to quiet out. Front rim got a curb mark, it's pretty deep on it, tires and rims had been mounted seriously 15 miles and didn't hit a curb, but a piece of the curb was broke off and in the road:/ I know it doesn't look like much - but it's SOOOOoooo close to being done. A quick body panel alignment and paint job and she's Good to GO. Interior pieces are there and can be repaired, it will need carpet I think, but you may be able to save it. My time has been put on getting it together and getting it drivable, not much has been put into Fun factor. I would jump in the car and drive it to Cali right now - I have no doubt about it running great, I have put 3500 miles on it in the last few months. Auction is starting below what I want, so hoping it goes up, but for this price, you are getting an absolute Steal on this Swapped tagged and Legal 1JZ. |

Lexus IS 250 to get new turbo four?
Tue, 22 Apr 2014"All show, no go." That's how I described the 2014 Lexus IS 250 F Sport that you see above, when I reviewed it back in November. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like about the new IS, but the 204-horsepower, 2.5-liter V6 in the IS 250 is not on that list. In my review, I suggested that Lexus ought to get on the bandwagon of offering a small-displacement, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine in its base IS (like its rivals), and now the folks at Motor Trend are furthering that discussion.
Lexus pulled the wraps off its new NX 200t crossover at the Beijing show recently, and it'll be the first vehicle in the company's lineup to use a brand-new - you guessed it - 2.0-liter turbo-four. With 238 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque on tap, that represents a healthy increase over the 204 hp and anemic 185 lb-ft currently being offered with the 2.5-liter V6, and we imagine the fuel economy gains will be rather significant, too. For comparison, the Lexus' four-pot power numbers are very close to the 240 hp and 255 lb-ft offered in the same-sized engine that BMW uses in the 328i.
Motor Trend also posits that Lexus may consider changing the base IS' name from 250 to 200, or perhaps 200t, to properly reflect the new engine's displacement. Of course, that's assuming Lexus doesn't pull a BMW or Mercedes-Benz, and no longer has its alphanumeric names properly reflect the size of the powerplant found underhood.
Why is there a huge bulge in 2021 Lexus IS 300 AWD's driver footwell? We explain
Tue, Mar 16 2021After an initial turn a few weeks ago for the 2021 Lexus IS first drive review, the revised luxury sedan has returned to the Autoblog garage for a second look. This middle-of-the-road IS 300 AWD pairs a 260-horsepower V6 with a six-speed automatic transmission and four driven wheels, and frankly it's the least interesting way to spec out the redesigned sedan. While there are cars in this segment designed to get a performance boost from their all-wheel-drive systems even in dry conditions, the IS isn't one of them. Adding insult to injury, you get stuck with a cramped driver-side footwell care of the engineering shenanigans that went into making this system possible. While we've mentioned this particular compromise before, we rarely touch on the reasons why it exists in the first place. The fundamentals are fairly obvious; the standard IS utilizes a longitudinal, rear-wheel-drive powertrain. As is typical with this configuration, the transmission sits in a tunnel beneath the center console. This arrangement works just fine, provided you don't need to power the front wheels. To do so in a traditional car like the IS requires a literal end-around maneuver involving the engine and transmission, which we've diagrammed for you below care of MSPaint. This is a bit simplified for the sake of this write-up, and it should be noted that this is not the only way to implement AWD in an inherently RWD platform, but it illustrates how the power for the front axle (red) and rear axle (blue) flows from the transmission to the drive wheels. To get juice flowing to the front axle, Lexus had to add a parallel output shaft, exiting the transmission from the front with enough clearance for the bell housing and engine, which sits between the transmission and the front differential. This requires quite a bit of lateral reach, meaning the housing has to extend much farther out than usual to accommodate it (yellow arrow). As a result, the all-wheel-drive transmission looks a lot like a sci-fi gun with a chunky drum magazine hanging off the side of it. The hump (above right) in the footwell is there to clear this protrusion. This basic configuration isn't unique to Lexus. In fact, if you look at a BMW xDrive cutaway, it's similar. So, why no "hump" in other cars? There are multiple factors, but to boil it down to what is most relevant, it's a combination of the resulting shape of the Lexus transmission housing and the size of the IS chassis.
Optimistic Lexus bumps US sales target higher
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Last year Lexus sold 244,166 cars in the US, slotting into third place in the luxury segment behind BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Earlier this year Lexus said its target was 260,000 units in the US (which would still put it behind BMW's and Mercedes' numbers from last year), but Automotive News reports that it has raised its upper outlook to 270,000 cars.
The half-year pace hasn't been enough to make either number, but Lexus is gunning for a 15-percent gain in IS sales behind the arrival of the 2014 model, and this is also the first full year of sales of the new ES and LS. Lexus will most likely end the year in third place in the luxury segment behind BMW and Mercedes again, even if it does sell 270,000 units, but has said its prime directive is "good, steady growth."
