This is a great import luxury car as a rock bottom price. This 1995 Lexus LS400 was the flagship model in the Lexus lineup and this car is considered by many to be an excellent used car to purchase even today.
This car has been driven over the past ten years by a lady (my mother-in-law). It is 19 years old so there are a number of small dings, scrapes and hail marks on the car. Nothing that stands out too much. The biggest scrape I can see is on the front passenger bumper. Looks like a close call with something and left a small scrape. Interior is in good looking shape. no major rips or tears in the leather. The heater/ac work, radio is still good with all displays working properly. Sunroof, power windows, door locks, mirrors, power seats, all seem to be working just fine. It has a fob for key-less entry, but that does not seem to work. Could just be a dead battery. I also noticed there was an ABC light on the dash. I'm assuming a brake sensor is out somewhere. Just trying to give an overall good description of the condition. New tires were installed this winter so there is a lot of tread left. I've taken the car for a few spins and it drives nice. Brakes work nice, doesn't pull and ride is still quiet nice. TMG Lexus LS Sports 650 destined for production after 2015?
Fri, 01 Nov 2013There's little question that Lexus has succeeded in challenging its German rivals in the luxury marketplace. And with the LFA, it has proven that Japan can build a world-class supercar. What's left blank is the space in between.
Toyota Motorsport GmbH came up with a compelling answer in the form of the Sports 650 prototype, a Lexus LS with a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 641 horsepower and other go-fast components to challenge the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and Audi S8. Toyota boss Akio Toyoda was reportedly so impressed with the project that he initially ordered TMG to build ten examples - one for him and each of his nine best friends. But since the model on which the project was based has since been replaced, questions remain over the project's fate.
Georg Kacher - European correspondent for Automobile and Car magazines - recently drove the prototype and reports that "the project will now likely be transferred to the new model out in 2015." That could come down purely to speculation, but Kacher tends to get the inside line on industry news, so this particular bowl of gossip soup might not requite the usual grain of salt we otherwise might add.
Lexus IS, new and old, and LFA to make splash at SEMA
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Lexus has announced its Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show cars: a group of eight Lexus IS sedans spanning all three generations, and a 2012 LFA supercar. One of the show cars, a custom 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport, is a creation penned by IS fan Rob Evans, the winner of a contest to design a Lexus SEMA show car.
The standouts in the group of Lexus IS show cars, in no particular order, are a 700-horsepower 2014 Lexus IS 340 (it has a heavily modified Toyota Supra inline six swapped in, which is stroked out to 3.4 liters, hence the nomenclature change) by Philip Case and a supercharged 2004 Lexus IS 300 by Maricar Cortez. Both cars prove that oldies can be goodies - the venerable Supra 2JZTE engine, which ceased production over a decade ago, lives on in a 2014 platform, and the 2004 IS 300 gets a supercharger and remains relevant through the use of electronics, such as a back-up radar sensor, upgraded headlights and more.
Of course, the LFA by Guy S. De Alwis will be a stand out on its own, but unfortunately Lexus only provided us with a couple pictures that don't do it justice. We'll have to take a closer look at it on the show floor. Same goes for the IS penned by contest-winner Rob Evans, of which only a rendering was provided.
Lexus boots up early NX configurator
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Lexus is ramping up to launch its NX luxury compact crossover. Its international website just launched a teaser page for the CUV that shows off the available models and some nifty new photos of the upcoming vehicle on location. The site also includes an early configurator to allow potential customers to imagine their future NX.
Unfortunately, the configurator is quite bare bones at the moment. It only allows users to choose from 4 trims, 10 colors and 3 wheel designs. You can't do anything to the interior, and there are no options. Pricing is still a mystery as well.
We do know that in the US the NX is offered with either the company's new 2.0-liter four-cylinder, turbocharged engine with a six-speed automatic or a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain. The F Sport package is also available with either engine for a dash more sport in your crossover.
