Lexus unveils UK-only LC Black Inspiration
Wed, Oct 20 2021Lexus revealed yet another special edition of its LC halo model, this time targeting the coupe model and destined for the UK market. Dubbed "Black Inspiration," it's exactly what it sounds like, only with a nice, British twist. The blacked out look is certainly nothing new, but the LC certainly wears it well. The finish is called Graphite Black, and like all paint codes for the LC, it's ostensibly unique to the car. Don't bother looking for subtle contrasts or two-tone treatments. Everything from the spindle grille, door mirror casings, headlight and rear light cluster surrounds to the housings for the headlight washers has been done in Graphite Black. The monotone treatment finally breaks inside, which is where the Black Inspiration really leans into its target market. The seat bolsters remain a smooth-grain semi-aniline leather, but the surfaces pick up a tweed pattern that is accompanied by a textured finish on the interior trim that looks almost wool-like to our eyes. Lexus says the LC Black Inspiration will be available for order in the UK starting Nov. 1. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Lexus LC Convertible Concept is likely headed for production
Fri, Jan 11 2019The Lexus LC works quite well as a stunning halo car for the Japanese brand, and we're big fans of the coupe's design, both inside and out. So we're excited by the prospect of the car you see above, which Lexus will officially unveil in just a few days at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. As it sits, the Lexus LC Convertible is a concept vehicle, but judging by statements from company executives, production is practically a foregone conclusion. "This concept takes the unmistakable design of the LC coupe and reimagines it as a future convertible," Tadao Mori, chief designer of the LC Convertible concept, hints in the press release that accompanied this announcement. He adds, "A production version of this concept would be exhilarating in many different ways." Even if this concept is little more than an LC Coupe with its roof lopped off, the result is still very pretty. The droptop sits low to the ground on 22-inch wheels. Inside, elegant white leather dramatically contrasts with yellow stitching and dark-colored trimmings. The automaker isn't saying what's under the hood, but we'd guess a production version would offer both gasoline-fueled and hybridized powertrains similar to the coupe. Stay tuned for live images from the show floor in Detroit. Related Video:
Lexus LF-CC gets green light, Evoque rival under consideration
Fri, 30 Nov 2012While wandering the floor at this week's LA Auto Show, we had a bit of an epiphany at the Lexus stand. The traditionally stodgy Toyota premium outlet is really starting to come into its own in terms of exciting design. And not just with production models like the excellent new GS sedan. At the front of the display, a triangular formation of plinths was a feast for the eyes - the head was formed by the LFA Nurburgring Package supercar, flanked on either side by the company's outré LF-LC and LF-CC concept cars.
So consider it welcome news on our end that the LF-CC concept shown above has apparently been given the production green light, with a projected arrival by 2015. So says Autocar, which quotes an unnamed source at Lexus willing to confirm that a senior engineer has been tasked with the project. The British publication suggests that the production version of the 2012 Paris Motor Show star will probably be built in both coupe and convertible formats and ride atop the automaker's new modular rear-wheel drive architecture. Power is expected to be an evolution of the GS 350h's hybrid drivetrain.
In other news, that same shadowy source at Lexus has reportedly confirmed that the Japanese luxury brand is "seriously studying" offering a small SUV in the mold of the stylish Range Rover Evoque from Land Rover, though no further details are given. Lexus' own RX crossover range has long been a massive hit for the brand, leaving many industry analysts scratching their heads as to why the automaker hasn't already expanded its crossover offerings to include both larger and smaller formats.
