Selling my 2002 Lexus IS300 with rare 5-speed manual transmission and factory LSD.
The reason for sale is that this is our 5th vehicle. A previous owner used it as an east coast commuter from the Carolina's up to New Jersey, and that is where the majority of the 264,xxx highway miles came from (these 2JZ inline motors are bulletproof). I have been using it to commute from Waynesboro, PA to Baltimore, MD for the last 5-6 months, and it has run flawlessly. When I purchased it, it had a coolant leak (replaced the radiator shroud that had a cracked overflow), had an exhaust leak (replaced the leaky exhaust gasket), and had a Check Engine Light (replaced the #2 oxygen sensor, fixing that problem as well). I also replaced the ugly factory 16 inch rims with a set of IS250 17 inch wheels and tires.
Car has heated seats, a/c, heat, cruise, leather, power everything, aftermarket radio head unit with USB and AUX inputs, sunroof, etc..
That being said, there are some flaws with the car. . . I was told that a truck backed into it with a hitch at some point in its life, and the front bumper cover is cracked, the grill was replaced and the hood replaced with a carbon fiber hood (has some stress cracks from shipping I was told). The rear bumper cover has some scratches as well (not really sure how this happened). There are some small dings on the car here and there as well. Dashboard has typical IS300 dash coating problem, but I have a dash mat to cover it. Hardly worth mentioning, but I want to disclose fully, there is a tiny squeeking sound when idling and when you touch the clutch pedal it stops - previous experience tells me it is probably the clutch throwout bearing, but it has been there for the 4000+ miles I have driven it without incident. The clutch has plenty of life and I have gotten consistently a calculated 25-26 mpg highway (odometer vs how many gallons it takes to fill the tank completely). Car comes with owners manual, one key, as well as the factory emergency key with key code for duplicates.
Overall, it is a great running dependable car that could use some cosmetic work to make a little nicer (I was concerned more with function than form). It would continue to be a great daily driver, or a perfect candidate for an engine swap (which is why I purchased it in the first place). Again, I am only selling because it is a 5th vehicle for us and we already have another IS300 (Sportcross model). I do have the car for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early... Title is clear PA title and in my name, and has good PA inspection until 11/13.
Manual trans IS300's are hard to find, not to mention one with such a low starting price and clear title...
Thanks for looking and happy Bidding!!

Lexus builds final LFA supercar
Mon, 17 Dec 2012Lexus has officially built the very last LFA. The 500th Lexus supercar rolled from the company's Motomachi facility on December 14th wearing all of the goodies of the Nürburgring package and white paint. Toyota's Lexus division started production on the car exactly two years ago on December 15, 2010 and built just one unit per working day. A total of 170 workers were hand-picked to handle parts manufacturing, assembly and painting for the LFA project. While Lexus has made it clear it will produce no more LFA models, lessons gleaned from the vehicle's construction may translate into other future products.
Specifically, Toyota says it may employ its carbon fiber reinforced plastic experience moving forward. As you may recall, the LFA made extensive use of CFRP and carbon fiber, and Lexus even created a special rotary loom to stitch together the supercar's A-pillars. Take a look at the brief press release on the last LFA below.
2014 Lexus IS 250 AWD F Sport
Fri, 08 Nov 2013"Ooh, this looks fun!" my otherwise car-ignorant friend said as we walked up to the 2014 Lexus IS 250 F Sport. And yeah, it does look fun. In fact, despite my initial strong negative reaction to the design, I've really warmed up to this new IS, especially with the flashier F Sport package found on this test car (unique front fascia, 18-inch dark alloy wheels and appropriate badging). Even though that rear end still looks a bit Droopy Dog to me (stop frowning, Lexus), the IS is sharp, though I'm not entirely sure that such a bold design will age well.
"Looks can be deceiving," I told my friend, and we hit the road... slowly. You see, despite looking like a fresh, modern sport sedan, the IS 250 still uses what is, quite frankly, a dog of an engine. And that, combined with dynamics that are just so-so at best, makes for a sedan that's all show and no go. Say hello to Jennifer Slowpez.

2015 Lexus LS gets tighter turning radius, new infotainment
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Go back a couple of decades and the thought of a Japanese automaker challenging the German limousines would have seemed laughable, but 25 years later the Lexus LS is a mainstay of the luxury sedan market. And it didn't get there by sitting on its laurels, so it should come as little surprise that Lexus is offering some small tweaks as it enters the 2015 model year.
This time around the upgrades are rather minor, consisting primarily of a new multimedia system. It's got an updated navigation system with 12.3-inch display, revised backup camera imagery with dynamic gridlines, and an enhanced Lexus Enform App Suite that can control the locks, ignition, climate control and more, remotely.
While they were at it, Toyota's engineers also reduced the turning circle by four inches (on cars fitted with 18-inch wheels), and enhanced the F Sport package as well. Otherwise, it's essentially the same LS we've always known.
