1997 Lexus Es300 Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l Super Clean Very Good Condition on 2040-cars
Clarksville, Indiana, United States
This car is in excellent condition. I bought it from my uncle 8 years ago and I'm pretty sure he bought it brand new back in 1997. If not, he was the second owner which makes me the third owner at worst and you reading this the fourth (or maybe the third) owner. Confused yet? Don't be. This car is a gem and I wouldn't hesitate going on a road trip in it tomorrow.
I'm selling because I needed something bigger and I already got it. So now I have two cars and I don't need two cars. Ice cold A/C, Blazing hot HEAT Quiet Engine Clean exhaust I had a single disc CD changer w/ MP3 jack installed because its 2014 and I don't need the 6 Disc CD changer/Cassette combo that was original to the car....however, I still have the original radio should you choose to put it back. The sound system in this car is fantastic. Great speakers! The CHECK ENGINE light comes off and on sporadically and its been this way for YEARS. I've had it checked and it's a faulty wire or something. Nothing to fear. Take it to your mechanic if you like. I have changed the oil regularly and recent work includes: 4 new tires less than 5k miles ago Both front and rear brake pads Rotors, calipers Headlights Windshield wipers The bad: A portion of the driver's side door handle broke off last winter after I pulled too hard following the ice storm. Driver's side seat is ripped (DOES NOT affect comfort) A few superficial scratches and one small dent in front right Peeling paint on top of passenger side mirror Never been wrecked, clean title in hand. Very well taken care of overall. Automatic V6 3.0L Front Wheel Drive Leather Seats Full size spare Power Windows/Doors Sunroof/Moonroof or whatever you want to call it. :) Yada, yada, yada...if you're interested come check it out if you live in the area, or feel free to ask me anything. |

US buyers show little interest in big hybrids
Sat, May 10 2014The idea of producing large, luxury-vehicle hybrids is turning into a "what were they thinking?" exercise in futility, USA Today reports. General Motors is discontinuing hybrid versions of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs, while Mercedes-Benz and Toyota's Lexus division are doing the same with their S-Class hybrid and LS hybrid sedans, respectively. The culprit? Big price increases for fuel economy improvements that border on the unimpressive. Granted, the Escalade hybrid gets 31 percent better fuel economy than the standard version, but that still maps out to a combined fuel-efficiency rating of just 21 miles per gallon. That can be seen as a worthwhile increase, if it didn't cost over $8,000 extra. The 2014 Escalade Hybrid, for example, starts at $74,425 while the non-hybrid can be had for $66,295. Meanwhile, the Lexus full-size hybrid costs $6,000 more than the regular version but only gets 1-2 mpg better combined fuel economy. The result of all these high costs? Low sales. Through April, GM sold 82 of its hybrid SUVs and pickups, down from 541 a year earlier. And the LS hybrid sales were in single-digit territory for April. That isn't stopping Lexus from promoting its hybrids as the right solution (with the wrong facts), though. There are still automakers giving big hybrid vehicles a shot, though. Nissan's Infiniti division is selling a hybrid version of its QX60 and says an impressive 10 percent of QX60 buyers choose the hybrid, which costs just $3,000 more. Looks like money talks. Lexus asks fans to help name new orange shade for RC F
Thu, 08 May 2014Flip through the catalog for most Lexus models and you're bound to see an array of different shades of beige and gray. But even Lexus has its wilder side, denoted by the letter F, and those models can wear brighter hues.
The IS F, for example, offered an electric shade of blue which Lexus called Ultrasonic and a deep red called Matador, along with the usual silver, gray, white and black. But for the new RC F, Lexus is preparing to offer an even more vibrant shade of orange. It just doesn't know what to call it. That's why it's asking fans on Facebook to help it name the color - similar to the crowd-sourcing SRT did for the Viper's bright blue and Chevy did for the Volt's pale green.
Top suggestions currently include Tangerine Flame, Solar Flare, Outrageous Orange and Fiery Orange. Given how similar the shade looks to that which adorned the track-tuned LFA with the Nürburgring package, we can't help but wonder if LFA Blaze or Nordschleife Blur might not be more suitable. Or, if we're being honest, McLaren Orange or Arancia Borealis... though we know some guys in Woking and Sant'Agata Bolognese who might object.
Lexus takes aim at electric vehicles, again
Wed, Oct 12 2016Lexus is once again taking aim at plug-in vehicles by emphasizing the perceived challenges of recharging batteries, rather than simply filling up with gas or hydrogen. Only this time, Toyota's luxury division appears to be zigging while everyone else is zagging. Of course, the nameplate can use all the help it can get when it comes to hybrid sales. First highlighted by Green Car Reports, Lexus has added a banner to the website of its hybrid vehicles that says "Always Charged. Always Ready." That's a not-so-veiled shot at plug-in vehicles, a sector where Toyota has minimal exposure. Lexus also notes of its hybrid vehicles that there's "nothing to plug in." Of course, there may be sour grapes at play. Through September, sales of its five hybrid models in the US dropped 17 percent from a year earlier to about 21,500 units, and September was particularly tough as hybrid sales plunged 34 percent to almost 1,800 units. Even so, the third quarter likely represented a record when it came to plug-in vehicle sales. We say "likely" because Tesla doesn't break out its US sales, and not all automakers disclose sales of their plug-ins. We calculate that sales for the quarter were at about 36,000 vehicles, up 38 percent from a year earlier. For now, Lexus doesn't sell a fuel-cell model, though it may sell a fuel-cell version of the Lexus LS full-size sedan. Toyota, of course, offers the Mirai, which has moved about 710 units this year. Lexus has gone down this proverbial road before. In 2014, the brand unveiled a similar campaign that highlighted how long it took to recharge EVs, and was ultimately taken to task by electric-vehicle advocates Plug-In America. Lexus apologized for offending anyone and said it'd review content related to hybrid advertising. Doesn't seem like an apology is in order this time out, but that doesn't mean that it's a good strategy.
