Hello.   I am the original buyer and owner of this 2004 Range Rover.  And while it has 188,000 miles on it, please know that in the past 18 months, I've put some $14,359 of key repairs into the car so the new owner should have good future service.  I'd like to tell you the whole history of the car, and so let's begin.

I bought this Rover from Range Rover dealer in McLean, VA in 2004.  Sticker price was total $77,950 which included the Luxury Interior Package of $5,000.  Please find a photo of the window sticker included in the photos section.

This has been a wonderful car, giving great service.  This is the BMW redesign of Rover, and it has the BMW engine.  The car worked just great with little repairs for the first 140,000 miles.  Then in the past 18 months, there were significant repairs needed and this is probably reasonable given the high mileage.

For you the prospective new buyer, you should know that only Range Rover parts have been used during the life of the car.   Service was performed by Rover dealer in Virginia, and then here in Orlando.  About 18 months ago, I switched my service loyalty over to E2 Services here in Orlando which is owned and operated by previous lead service tech from the Orlando dealership.  They work on just Land Rovers and Mini Coopers, and their services are excellent at better prices than the dealership.  Also, they are timely in their repair work. Today I visited E2 and got a six page print out of all the details of the various service repairs done to my car.   These pages will be sent to new buyer.   Here is fast recap of the major repairs done on the car:
-- March 16, 2012:  $4,011 for new radiator, new cabin filter, new hoses throughout, new AT filter, transmission service, replace 4 front control arms and ball joints.
--May 1, 2012:  $2022.12  for new Strut Assembly, front air strut, thermostat replacement, new battery.
--March 6, 2013:   $662 for new Valve Cover Gasket, remove and replace both, and new front brake pads rotors and sensor.
--April 23, 2013:  $1257 for expansion tank, water pump, BG induction kit.
--March 12, 2013: $1328 Valve Covers replace both, turn signal assembly front left and front right.
--June 17, 2013:  $1919 for strut assembly air suspension, right side, and rear brake pads rotors and sensors; with this repair, air suspension system for front left and front right have been completed; also, new brakes for front and back have been installed.
--September 20, 2013:  $1194  for new suspension compressor; also routine oil change.
--December 5, 2013:   $1225 for  new fuel pump, new fuel pump filters.   And $50 for a pair of new struts for rear window opening/closing.

OK, those are the major repairs.  And remember, this car has delivered 188,000 miles so this $14,359 of service is more understandable.

The good news for you, is that these repairs have already been completed.  When you see other 2004 Rovers advertised at lower prices, please check to see what repairs have been made.

This Rover has never been in accident.  Rover has been garaged since taking delivery in 2004.  Car is 100% no smoking.  All repairs have been with Land Rover parts.  Car has been detailed cleaned each month for past eight years.   Car is very clean inside and out.  Tires were bought from Costco on July 3, 2012 and the four tires are Michelin Latitude Tour HP All Season and cost about $1300 installed; tires were put on when car had 159K miles, so total miles on the tires are about 25K.  The Costco people thought these high quality tires should deliver 50K miles.

For all the repairs, and the Costco Tires, I have about 24 pages of receipts that I will provide the buyer.

There are two original smart keys that came with the car.  It seems the transmitting key lasts about three years, and about two years ago, I ordered a new third key from Land Rover Orlando.  This $300 third key works great.  The other two keys still work, but on one I needed to put tape to hold the battery compartment together.  Future keys can be ordered from any Rover dealer.

OK, that's the whole story.   As you give this thought, please keep in mind that this 2004 Rover has many miles, but that also it has already had the repairs of $14, 359 completed so that you the new owner get a great looking car with so many repairs completed with original Rover parts done by Rover trained techs.

Please see that I have over 300 transactions on ebay and I have 100% positive feedback.  What that should mean to you, is that I'm a fair seller and I'm giving you the honest story.

Bidding rules:  Upon completion of auction or Buy It Now, buyer will send immediate Pay Pal deposit of $500.  Balance of payment will be wire transfer from your checking account to my checking account at my local Bank of America; the wire transfer will cost you about $25.00 which is much better than the Pay Pal charge of 3%.  Only when Pay Pal payment and wire transfer have been received, will I then sign over the clear title and provide car for pickup here in Orlando, FL market.  You might want to hire a car carrier company to come pick up the car and that works very well.  One company that does a great job is United Auto Carrier.   USA shipping only.

OK, here is the video that I shot about one month ago that give complete story.  I've also shot a new video today December 6, and I'm having trouble putting it up on You Tube but I'll get it figured out and this will be up shortly.

Why am I selling?   I've found a new 2012 Rover that I'd like to buy so I'm putting this 2004 up for sale; I had this up for sale previously for about one day, but then I rethought the sale and thought I'd keep it another year.  Just recently I found this newer 2012 that I'd like to get so now I'm wanting to sell this car again.

OK here's the video story.  Please note that the still pictures were taken today December 6, 2013.   Please send any questions

Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover

Sat, Jan 18 2014

It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. Rising aluminum costs cut into Ford's profit

Wed, Jan 24 2018

When Ford reports fourth-quarter results on Wednesday afternoon, it is expected to fret that rising metals costs have cut into profits, even as rivals say they have the problem under control. Aluminum prices have risen 20 percent in the last year and nearly 11 percent since Dec. 11. Steel prices have risen just over 9 percent in the last year. Ford uses more aluminum in its vehicles than its rivals. Aluminum is lighter but far more expensive than steel, closing at $2,229 per tonne on Tuesday. U.S. steel futures closed at $677 per ton (0.91 metric tonnes). Republican U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is weighing whether to impose tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, which could push prices even higher. Ford gave a disappointing earnings estimate for 2017 and 2018 last week, saying the higher costs for steel, aluminum and other metals, as well as currency volatility, could cost the company $1.6 billion in 2018. Ford shares took a dive after the announcement. Ford Chief Financial Officer Bob Shanks told analysts at a conference in Detroit last week that while the company benefited from low commodity prices in 2016, rising steel prices were now the main cause of higher costs, followed by aluminum. Shanks said the automaker at times relies on foreign currencies as a "natural hedge" for some commodities but those are now going in the opposite direction, so they are not working. A Ford spokesman added that the automaker also uses a mix of contracts, hedges and indexed buying. Industry analysts point to the spike in aluminum versus steel prices as a plausible reason for Ford's problems, especially since it uses far more of the expensive metal than other major automakers. "When you look at Ford in the context of the other automakers, aluminum drives a lot of their volume and I think that is the cause" of their rising costs, said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at auto consultancy LMC Automotive. Other major automakers say rising commodity costs are not much of a problem. At last week's Detroit auto show, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne reiterated its earnings guidance for 2018 and held forth on a number of topics, but did not mention metals prices. General Motors Co gave a well-received profit outlook last week and did not mention the subject. "We view changes in raw material costs as something that is manageable," a GM spokesman said in an email.

UK car output falls 14% in March, may get worse with no-deal Brexit

Tue, Apr 30 2019

LONDON — British car output fell for the 10th month in a row in March, hit by a slowdown in key foreign markets, and the sector stands to suffer a lot more if the country leaves the European Union without a deal, an industry body said on Tuesday. Output tumbled by an annual 14.4 percent to 126,195 cars in March, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said. Exports, which account for nearly four out of every five cars made in Britain, were down by 13.4 percent. The SMMT said analysis it had commissioned predicted output would fall this year to 1.36 million units from 1.52 million in 2018, assuming London can secure a transition deal with the EU. If Britain has to rely instead on World Trade Organization rules for its trade with the bloc, which include import tariffs, output is forecast to fall by around 30 percent to 1.07 million units in 2021, returning to mid-1980s levels, the SMMT said. The forecasts were produced for SMMT by AutoAnalysis, a consultancy. Prime Minister Theresa May has secured a delay to the Brexit deadline until Oct. 31, giving her more time to try to break an impasse in parliament over the terms of Britain's departure from the EU. Foreign minister Jeremy Hunt traveled to Japan earlier this month to try to persuade the Japanese government and Toyota, which has a big presence in Britain, that London was determined to avoid a no-deal Brexit. "Just a few years ago, industry was on track to produce 2 million cars by 2020 — a target now impossible with Britain's reputation as stable and attractive business environment undermined," SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said. "All parties must find a compromise urgently so we can set about repairing the damage and diverting energy and investment to the technological challenges that will define the future of the global industry."
