The Land Rover Range Rover HSE is the best 4x4xfar to get you around town, and to play in the country. This 2004 Range Rover is my third one, and I can't imagine NOT getting a 4th. It's currently based in the Texas Hill Country of Austin, and has made frequent trips to the lakes west of town.

When you're in a Range Rover like this one, you are just plain happy! It's a joy, even at the gas station, when invariably someone will come up and say, "I've always wanted a Range Rover. How do you like it?" I love it!

If you watch any TMZ-like program, you'll notice it's the main vehicle of Hollywood. Everybody just loves a Range Rover, and you just can't beat it for the vehicle that you'll love most, both on and off road. The vehicle's air suspension system can be controlled from the driver's seat, and includes a low setting to enter and exit the vehicle, as well as suspension heights for 4-wheeling, and highway and town driving.

This particular Range Rover's main bad part is this:
I never purchased a navigational computer, which was missing when I bought it, because iPhones have better systems anyway. However, if you want to replace it, they are available on the Internet for several hundred dollars. Since the navigational screen is blank, you have to program the radio without seeing the station call letters. I listen to just a few radio stations, and the vehicle has rarely left Austin, so it hasn't been an issue, but you may like to spend the extra dollars after purchase to get that navigational computer installed (the small dealer I bought it from in Florida must have taken the computer out before I got the vehicle, and since it wasn't listed, I couldn't do much about it.) Bottom line is that the AM/FM radio/Casette/6-Disc Changer all work, but you can't see what you're listening to. And I think that computer is the only way to set the clock, so the clock isn't set (you could kill the battery, and bring the battery back on at the proper time). The only other little problem is that some of the numbers don't show up all the way in the dashboard, so it doesn't see the 100,000 digit yet (it shows 54K miles, but it's actually 154K miles.) When it hits 200,000, I'm sure you will see portions of the 2. I've included pictures so you can see the problem.

You'll see some wear and tear of an 8-year old vehicle, but as with most vehicles of this caliper, you'll notice that people take way better care of them than cheaper vehicles. The $72,950 Window Sticker is still in the manual packet. When you own a vehicle that was originally high-priced, the best thing you can do is try to find an independent garage that you can trust, and who will help you take care of the vehicle without thinking you're made of money to spare. Range Rovers are plentiful enough that most big cities have a Range Rover specialist that doesn't overcharge you to keep the vehicle in shape. This vehicle has been maintained by Phoenix Motorworks in Austin -- they know what they're doing, and are extremely fair to their customers. They were recommended by Ben's Workshop, the top local Mercedes repair specialist, and both shops have been incredible to work with. I'm sure you can find a local Range Rover enthusiast community to help you with maintaining this SUV.

Happy bidding, and please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or concerns.

Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."
