For sale is my 1991 Range Rover with just under 103,000 original miles. I purchased it in early summer this year in hopes to fully restore its original beauty and make it my daily driver. Unfortunately, this "dream" will have to wait until another time period and I regretfully need to sell due to financial reasons. Since purchased I have put less than 500 miles on it; most recently being a 95 mile round trip utilizing highway (70-80 mph) and city (25-45 mph) roads. I must say that I am very impressed with the way that it drives.

Being that I have only owned it a couple months, I can only tell you what I know to the best of my knowledge. With that being said, here is my best shot at an overview:

This RR has 102,423 original miles (which may change due to occasional driving and being listed locally). It is green in color and could really benefit from a new paint job. To be honest, this was going to be the first thing that I planned on getting done after winter. I planned on having minor body work done on the rust areas (as shown in the pictures) and then a complete paint job after winter. As I just mentioned, it has some rust bubbling under the paint in some areas and surface rust as well, mostly on the bumper and hitch (also shown in pictures). The tires in my estimate have about 85% tread left and all seem to show consistent wear. The spare is there, but would recommend replacing it for a more reliable tire.

This RR is equipped with cruise and I honestly have not tried to use it so I am not sure if it works. I can check it if requested, but since I never use it on my family vehicles, I never tested it. The radio has a cassette player, but currently no sound comes out of the speakers. There is power to the stereo, but no sound. I have not checked it out to see if the issue is the connection or the speakers. It also has air / heat. I can say that the blower works, but the air is not ice cold and it has not been cold enough to check the heater. The sun/moon roof works as do the power seats, power mirrors, and all 4 power windows. The front and rear wipers work and I was told that the rear brakes were replaced. I was also told that the pitman ball arms were replaced in the front before I purchased it which makes the steering feel tight. It also comes with new brake pads and rotors for the front and rear (as shown in the pictures in a box). All that needs to be done is install. The interior for its age looks amazing...especially the rear seats and floor.

The worst things that I can mention about this RR is there is a 1.4amp battery drain that over time will kill the battery (previous owner informed me). The previous owner installed a twist know battery connection that cuts the power to the vehicle when parked for long periods of time. I had it parked for a week with the disconnect and then started it right up when reconnected (this was also something I was going to investigate getting fixed to make it a more reliable daily driver). The windshield wash light comes on and off even though it is full. I haven't been able to see if there is a loose connection to the sensor, but that would be the first place I would check. The engine light comes on after a period of time. I narrowed it down to after it is running for a while when warmed up, if you sit in park or are stuck in traffic for a period of time (stop light) is when it comes on. I did drive it last week for about 2 hours with shutting off the vehicle a couple times for about 5 min each. During a 30 min consistent 25-40 mph drive and no long idles, the check engine light did not come on; hence my original assumption. I am not a mechanic so I have no real idea what it could be. I drove it 70 miles with it on and had no issues...and as mentioned I drove it for about 35-40 miles with no long idling and the light never came on. To me there isn't anything that seems to affect the vehicle, but again, I am not a mechanic. Also, the headliner is sagging and needs to eventually be repaired / replaced. This is typical on these older RR's.

Please remember that this is a 22 year old vehicle and is far from being new. You will hear the "creaks and squeaks" of a true truck of this age and will always have something that will need attention. I will say though that I have been looking for one for a long time and this is one of the lowest mileage RR's that I have found this old. If I didn't run into the immediate financial need, I would not be listing this as it took me a long time to find one with these miles and current shape without any restoration done to it.

If you have any questions, I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.  I apologize if there is anything I forgot, but I hope my description covers it as well as the pictures.

Winning bidder is responsible for a $500 non-refundable deposit.  Remaining balance needs to be paid by certified funds or cash.  Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder; however I prefer local pickup.  I can only assist by being available at time of pickup if winning bid is not local and shipping is required.  I also have this listed locally and have the right to cancel the listing at any time.  If seriously interested, please contact me after bidding so I can communicate any local interest which might negate the high bid.

Thanks for looking!

Jaguar Land Rover reportedly developing Road Rover car

Tue, Sep 26 2017

Reports are circulating in the automotive media that Jaguar Land Rover is developing a vehicle that's not an SUV. Called the Road Rover, it would be an all-electric luxury car with "some" all-terrain capability, hinting at all wheel drive. Initially, the EV would launch in late 2019, then spawn more models to complete the lineup. There is also talk about JLR's interest in an outright purchase of an existing luxury car brand to join its portfolio, and that parent company Tata has already given this strategic move the green light. Tata has also reportedly made moves to protect its JLR ownership via acquiring more of its own stock. All this excitement brings to mind the fact that there once existed an actual Road Rover — the Rover brand. Having evolved into MG Rover before going into administration in 2005 and subsequently reborn in China under SAIC Motor ownership, Rover was a moderately posh British carmaker just beneath the level of prestige that Jaguar offered. For some years, both were part of the same corporation. The last Rover saloons were designed and built with BMW input, and at that point Land Rover had already become part of Ford, almost a decade after Jaguar did. Ford's tenure with Land Rover lasted from 2000 to 2008, when Tata bought the British brand — along with the Rover name. Would it just make sense to badge the road car Rover, with no Road or Land affixed to it? Rover's slovenly demise is more than a decade old now, but there's plenty of valuable history still embedded in the long-shelved Viking ship logo. Cast aside memories of Sterling-badged Honda Legend platform siblings and unattractively Federalized SD1 series cars, and take whatever good the 1999-2005 Rover 75 brought to the table — maybe it's time for Rover to be reborn in the current Jaguar Land Rover family. According to Autocar, the first Road Rover would be developed in tandem with the next-generation Jaguar XJ, so they would share an aluminum architecture suitable for both internal combustion engines and battery electric technology, depending of the model. If anything, there is delicious irony to this: The 1980s XJ generation that Jaguar spent decades developing was claimed to be engineered in such a way that the occasional stablemate Rover's Buick-derived 3,5-liter V8 wouldn't have fit in its engine bay — to preserve the Jaguar bloodline. To have the new XJ and a Rover cross paths again would only be fitting. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.

Tata to shed 1,100 Jaguar Land Rover jobs after coronavirus hits earnings

Mon, Jun 15 2020

BENGALURU — India's Tata Motors Ltd expects to shed about 1,100 temporary jobs at Jaguar Land Rover after it raised the cost-cutting target at its luxury unit by 1 billion pounds ($1.26 billion) to ride out the disruptions caused by the coronavirus outbreak. Tata Motors expects to save 5 billion pounds in costs by March 2021 at its Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) unit, the Indian automaker's Chief Financial Officer PB Balaji said on Monday, adding 3.5 billion pounds of the savings had already been achieved. It will also reduce capital expenditure at JLR to 2.5 billion pounds for the current fiscal year, from the more than 3 billion pounds it has spent annually in previous years. "Conserving cash and prioritizing capital expenditure, and targeting investment spending to the right areas is our focus," Balaji told reporters, after the company posted a fourth quarter loss. We anticipate that up to 1,100 agency employees will be affected, a JLR spokeswoman said in a separate statement. Tata Motors is reviewing all its businesses and would consider exiting those that do not add strategic value, as part of a broader effort to save 60 billion rupees ($789 million) in its domestic business in the fiscal year to 2021. The automaker on Monday posted a consolidated fourth quarter net loss of 98.94 billion rupees, as coronavirus lockdowns across its markets ravaged sales, including at JLR. Total revenue from operations fell 27.7% to 624.93 billion rupees in the quarter, which ended March 31. JLR, which contributes the bulk of Tata Motors' revenues, reported a pre-tax loss of 501 million pounds for the period after it took a hit of 800 million pounds because of the novel coronavirus, Balaji said. He said there were signs sales were recovering in China, one of JLR's biggest markets, as well as in the United States and in Europe, with strong orders for Land Rover's sport-utility vehicle Defender and Range Rover's Evoque. JLR's boss Ralf Speth, who has led the company since 2010, will step down from his role at the end of his contract term in September.
