Im offering up my personally owned 2003 Land Rover Discovery II SE w/80k miles for sale or your best reasonable cash offer. I have owned the truck for just over a year and recently bought a full-sized truck for work and no longer have a need for the Discovery. This is a 100% legitimate 2 Owner vehicle with no BS stories, Im in contact with the original owner and neither of us have ever spare any expense in the service of this Discovery and by all means I consider this a RARE find in a Discovery. If you make me an offer, please send me a telephone number to call you prior to accepting your offer I will call you...

History

I'm a self proclaimed Rover junkie and have owned several Discovery's and Range Rovers over the past 10 years. I'm extremely familiar with all their pro's and con's of ownership and this Discovery was purchased after several months of looking for the right Discovery with a 100% CLEAN history. The Discovery was originally purchased in Hawaii by a gentleman who was in Hawaii as a Red Cross Volunteer. When his volunteer term ended he shipped the vehicle back to the states where it was donated back to the Red Cross to be sold at a charity auction where the proceeds benefitted the Red Cross. I heard about the truck through a friend of mine in Atlanta, GA and went to the Red Cross event and purchased the truck and brought it home to Panama City Beach, FL. At the time of purchase the Discovery had 59k miles.

The Exterior

The exterior is in near flawless condition, the paint shows with a near showroom shine and has a deep gloss and reflection. The truck has never had any previous paint or body work and literally has maybe 2 door dings on the entire body. There is a couple of light scratches on the passenger rear corner but these could easily be buffed out, they are not deep or all that bad. There are two minor dings on either side of the upper rear of the truck, above the taillights. You would likely never notice them unless I pointed them out. The worst part of the exterior is the front center bumper cover section is cracked and broke in a few places (see pics). In person you can hardly notice because the truck is black and the under portion is black so it is kind of hard to spot unless your looking for it. This is a very common thing for a 03-04 Discovery...

The Interior

The interior much like the exterior is near flawless and has NEVER been smoked in. The leather is in excellent condition and shows with very little wear. The carpets have been covered with the original factory heavy rubber floor mats preserving the carpet in like new condition. The rear cargo area has the factory original cargo cover which is rare to find a Discovery with the cargo cover. The headliner is brand new and less than a week old. I went with a black headliner to offset the gray and it looks great. The interior is in like new condition and shows extremely well, near showroom condition when its cleaned up.

Mechanically

Mechanically the truck is 100% solid and I can write a novel on all the service work I have done to the truck in the year I have owned it. I bought the truck with 59k and at 62k the original 4.6 Litre developed a tick that by 64k became more of a knock. The 03-04 4.6 litre motors are known for slipping cylinder sleeves (google it) causing the motor to tick/knock. I purchased a used 2002 4.0 litre with 43k miles and had it installed in the Discovery and the factory ECU reprogrammed for the 4.0 litre. There is literally no difference in the way the truck drives or pulls a trailer. I have the paperwork for the motor and motor swap which indicates the miles on the used motor and the Discovery at the time of installation.

The tires are all Michelins with easily 70% or more treadwear remaining. I also had the rear brakes done about 2 months ago with new pads and rotors, most recent oil change was about 2 weeks ago and I always run 15w 40 Rotella in it. The Discovery hits the road PERFECT with no shakes, vibrations, pulling, or anything out of the ordinary. The Discovery does not have any indicator lights on, although the check engine light is known to come on and off depending on 2 common reasons, 1. the gas cap not being on tight or 2. an O2 sensor that I think is on its way out. It's off more than it comes on, however the gas cap can be tricky at times.

Overall

Overall in my opinion the Discovery is a rare find due to the low miles, 2 owners, and service history. It's hard to find a clean Discovery thats hasnt had a million owners, and with a complete service history and been this well cared for. I'm only selling it because my work needs have changed and need something that will pull a much heavier load than my boat or jet skis...

Payment

For payment I'm requiring a 20% NON-REFUDABLE deposit within 48 hours of the close of the sale and remaining balance within 5 days form the end of the sale. I will accept bank to bank wire transfers and verifiable cashiers checks only, no exceptions. I owe a little bit of money on the Discovery so my credit union has a lien on the electronic title. Once payment in full has been made the credit union will release the lien and the electronic title can be printed within 48 hours.

Editors' Picks March 2021 | Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar 2, Land Rover Defender and more

Thu, Apr 8 2021

The month of March was unofficial minivan month here at Autoblog. We drove all of them but the Kia Carnival, but don’t worry, you wonÂ’t have to wait much longer to read that review. Among all the family-toting machines, we drove some more exciting vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and a pair of up-and-coming EVs. It was a month of excellent cars, meaning that this monthÂ’s litter of EditorsÂ’ Picks is stacked. In case you missed FebruaryÂ’s picks, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Ford Bronco Sport First Edition View 32 Photos Quick take: Ford's baby Bronco is an authentic foil to the big Bronco 2-Door and 4-Door. It brings rugged styling, better-than-average off-road capability and thoughtful utility features to a generic segment of cars. Score: 8 What it competes with: Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Chevrolet Trailblazer Pros: Stellar design, excellent off-road, clever interior details throughout Cons: Pricier than most, average transmission, underwhelming interior quality and ambiance in lowest trims From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — “I genuinely enjoy driving this cute crossover. It feels like a mini truck on the road, and Ford admirably translated the design from its big Bronco over to this Escape-based crossover. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Bronco Sport isn't perfect, the transmission could use some work, and it's a little bumpy, but it's a characterful little thing with loads of style, great visibility and space, and impressive capabilities on and off road in the powerful Badlands form." In-depth analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Review | Bronco for the masses   2021 Land Rover Defender 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 View 64 Photos Quick take: The Land Rover Defender provides everything you'd hope for in a modern Land Rover: superlative off-road capability, surprisingly plush on-road demeanor, abundant interior space and abundant character. The base four-cylinder is likely all you'll need and lower trim levels provide more than enough equipment.

Xcar drives Jaguar C-X75, other Spectre villains of 007

Thu, Oct 29 2015

James Bond returns to US theaters very soon in Spectre, and with the action-packed film wrapped, the producers are lending out the keys to some of the movie's automotive stars. We've already seen Jay Leno behind the wheel of Bond's Aston Martin DB10. Now, Xcar's Alex Goy has taken a turn in some of the flick's villainous rides from Jaguar Land Rover, including a very special Jaguar C-X75. The crew from JLR's Special Vehicle Operations team certainly did an impressive job of giving the movies baddies some appropriately nefarious rides. To challenge Bond, they turned the Land Rover Defender into a beast with chunky, off-road tires and blinding-spot lights. They also made the Range Rover Sport SVR even more diabolical than normal with a blacked-out look and LED lightbar. Of course, the king of Spectre's villain cars is the C-X75. According to Goy, most of the ones in the movie use the company's 5.0-liter, supercharged V8, but two are actually original prototypes with the hybrid setup. He gets to drive one of those special examples in this clip. While limited to some low-speed cruising, the coupe still looks wonderfully menacing on the road. Related Video:

Jaguar CEO says people just don't want EVs right now

Mon, Jun 22 2015

"Customers are not impressed with it currently." These are the words of one Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, spoke at the Automotive News Europe Congress in Birmingham, England. The "it" Speth is referring to is battery technology, which he characterized as "too heavy, too expensive," and with power density that's "too low." That all could go some way towards explaining why the British automaker has yet to bring an electric vehicle to market, why it killed the C-X75 hybrid-turbine supercar project, and why it only recently started offering hybrid versions of its Range Rover models (and has yet to offer them in the United States). That doesn't mean the company won't pursue electric propulsion in the future, though. According to Automotive News Europe, Speth forecasts that "the next generation of batteries will be higher density, lower weight and the cost will come down." What he didn't say, exactly, is when he expects that next generation of battery tech to come around – or when JLR will start to more closely embrace electric propulsion. In the meantime, Jaguar Land Rover will continue investing in research and development. Since Tata acquired the brands from Ford seven years ago, JLR has quadrupled its R&D budget and doubled the number of engineers on staff. Related Video:
