I am selling a RHD 1985 Defender 110 County Station Wagon, with its original 2.5 liter diesel engine and five speed LT-77 gearbox. Originally from Wales. Power steering, power brakes, original brown tweed interior, original rear bench seats. Original paint with County livery, starts and runs well, good overall condition for the year, not a restoration or rebuild. Has a lot of character, meaning a few dings and dents, faded paint, interior in decent shape. Missing one rear bench seat bottom cushion. Chassis is in overall very good condition, with a newer rear crossmember, and two new front outriggers. Has a spare rim but no tire, and the jack. Front brush guard is older, with a few spot of rust. brand new shocks and heavy duty springs. Bulkhead has a few spots on it that may need attention, but they do not affect the driveability or overall integrity. Doors are ok, but will need attention at some point down the road, but function correctly as she now stands. Engine purrs like a kitten, and the gearbox goes through the gears smoothly with no jumping out of gear, and no crunching. Electrics all work correctly, incl gauges, etc. Rear door was replaced at some point, and is very solid. Dash is in good condition, as are the seats, still in very good condition. Power steering works correctly, and does not leak, no binding or catching. Tires are in fair condition. Engine bay is in good order, with brand new radiator. Charging system works correctly. This is a great Defender for the price, and as with all things British and old, would be best suited to someone with a bit of experience with Brit quirkiness. This is a Defender that is currently being driven on a somewhat daily basis, and it runs beautifully. The 2.5 liter diesel four is one of the best engines Land Rover produced, not to be confused with the 2.5T turbocharged version, which had a tendency to detonate. Not a speed demon, but perfect for your cabin or lake house. The Defender is currently in the Hamptons in Sag Harbor for the Summer, where it is being used as a runabout when I am there. I can also arrange delivery door to door. Also, please be aware that this is not a rebadged, re-vinned newer model Defender, it is just about completely original (save the Discovery rims) and has all the requisite patina that is to be expected. The chassis number matches the number on the VIN plate. I received neg feedback from someone who purchased a vehicle we sold, who thought they were buying a restored vehicle. You are not buying a restoration, and you are not paying upwards of $100K for a leather clad, new paint, electric window, air conditioned 2010 Defender that is being passed off as an '80's model. It is simply a well looked after Defender that was not used off road or on a farm. Please ask questions before buying, I have over 20 years experience with these vehicles. We can also arrange delivery door to door, at buyers expense. Comes with a clean Pennsylvania title, and we can provide a 30 day transit tag if you want to drive it home. Call for full details, 215-426-2748.

Second 'No Time To Die' trailer drops with lots of crunching metal
Thu, Sep 3 2020The second trailer for the new James Bond film, "No Time To Die," was posted to social media Thursday morning, getting us thoroughly hyped for the forthcoming installment thanks to some spicy car content and lots of other ridiculous, big-budget action sequences. Fair warning for the purists: This might contain plot- and character-related information from the trailer itself. Also, it appears that many Land Rover Defenders died in the making of this film, so the footage may not be for the faint of heart; don't say we didn't give you advance notice. As is typical of Bond films, most of the automotive eye candy is of the European variety. The classic Aston Martin DB5 gadget car (which we saw doing some crazy machine-gun donuts in the first trailer) makes yet another appearance, as does what appears to be fourth-generation Maserati Quattroporte. There's even something which might be a car, but also appears to be both some sort of airplane and submersible. Never change, Bond. We love it. And then there are the Defenders. We've got Defenders speeding down hillsides, Defenders crashing through forests, Defenders flying over Land Cruisers. Yeah, do you like Land Cruisers? There's a Land Cruiser. It even (spoiler alert!) survives relatively unscathed; the same cannot be said for most of the automotive shenanigans we get to see here. "No Time To Die" was originally slated to debut back in April, but its original release date roughly coincided with the projected peak of early coronavirus infections. Given how important the Bond film franchise's continued success is to MGM (it's virtually the only thing the studio has had going for it for 30 years) and the producers (who only make Bond films), meager box office returns were not an option. The last film, Spectre, pulled in the worldwide gross of $880 million, including $200 million in the United States and $83.5 million in China. The wait is almost over. "No Time to Die" will hit theaters Nov. 25 in the United States. Related Video:
Jaguar teases four-door EV grand tourer; electric Range Rover orders open this year
Wed, Apr 19 2023Jaguar just revealed a few vital details about a new EV it says will be revealed by the end of 2023, and Land Rover shared a little update about its upcoming electric Range Rover, too. Starting with the Jag, JLR — the new, official name for Jaguar Land Rover — announced that its next electric vehicle will be a four-door GT car. The image above is the teaser the company provided. Power output will be greater than any previous Jaguar, with the current record holder being the XE SV Project 8 at just over 590 horsepower. Range is claimed to be about 430 miles on a full charge (Jaguar doesn't specify the test cycle type), but that number could be different (and likely lower) here in the United States once EPA testing takes place. Jaguar says the grand tourer will debut its new in-house EV platform that is officially named JEA, which is unrelated to the electric XJ that was scrapped a couple years ago. And lastly, Jaguar says the vehicle will start at GBP100,000 in Great Britain. Pricing for the United States wasnÂ’t estimated, but a direct conversion at todayÂ’s rates puts it at about $124,000. Considering the price point, power level and range, this Jaguar is shaping up to be a potential Porsche Taycan competitor. The single teaser image at the top of this post suggests the same, as the photo shows a car with a fast-sloping roofline and wide, bulging fenders. ItÂ’s an exciting teaser, as it pretty much confirms that Jaguar will be coming in hot with a spicy-looking electric four-door. The last detail about this Jag confirmed today is its production site, as Jaguar says it will build the vehicle at its Solihull plant in the West Midlands, England. As for the Range Rover news, weÂ’ve known an electric Range Rover was on its way, now we know that the vehicle will launch in 2025. JLR says it will begin accepting orders for the electric Range Rover later this year, but didnÂ’t set an official date. The electric Range Rover will be built at JLRÂ’s Halewood plant in Merseyside, England. Those are all the details we know about today, but expect more teasers and information leading up to the reveal of these new EVs later in 2023. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. UK car output falls 14% in March, may get worse with no-deal Brexit
Tue, Apr 30 2019LONDON — British car output fell for the 10th month in a row in March, hit by a slowdown in key foreign markets, and the sector stands to suffer a lot more if the country leaves the European Union without a deal, an industry body said on Tuesday. Output tumbled by an annual 14.4 percent to 126,195 cars in March, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said. Exports, which account for nearly four out of every five cars made in Britain, were down by 13.4 percent. The SMMT said analysis it had commissioned predicted output would fall this year to 1.36 million units from 1.52 million in 2018, assuming London can secure a transition deal with the EU. If Britain has to rely instead on World Trade Organization rules for its trade with the bloc, which include import tariffs, output is forecast to fall by around 30 percent to 1.07 million units in 2021, returning to mid-1980s levels, the SMMT said. The forecasts were produced for SMMT by AutoAnalysis, a consultancy. Prime Minister Theresa May has secured a delay to the Brexit deadline until Oct. 31, giving her more time to try to break an impasse in parliament over the terms of Britain's departure from the EU. Foreign minister Jeremy Hunt traveled to Japan earlier this month to try to persuade the Japanese government and Toyota, which has a big presence in Britain, that London was determined to avoid a no-deal Brexit. "Just a few years ago, industry was on track to produce 2 million cars by 2020 — a target now impossible with Britain's reputation as stable and attractive business environment undermined," SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said. "All parties must find a compromise urgently so we can set about repairing the damage and diverting energy and investment to the technological challenges that will define the future of the global industry."
