Lamborghini updates its logo for the first time in over 20 years

Enthusiasts meandering through the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 50 years will have an easy way to tell approximately when a Lamborghini was made. Starting later in 2024, the brand's cars will wear a logo that has been redesigned with a focus on minimalism. Lamborghini notes this is the first time it has redesigned its logo in over 20 years, and the changes made are relatively subtle. The emblem is still shield-shaped, and its overall layout remains the same; there's "LAMBORGHINI" written at the top, right above a bull that looks like it's about to charge. However, the shield's frame is smaller, with a flatter look, and the bull becomes an outline with fewer details (like the spine). Here's the old logo for reference: While the bull has appeared on the logo since the company's inception in 1963, it will soon stand on its own for the first time. Not on cars, it sounds like they'll still wear a shield, but in some of the brand's marketing and promotional material. Lamborghini also developed a brand-specific font to further strengthen its identity. You'll see it in the magazine that the company publishes, for example, and on social media. Lamborghini hasn't revealed which car(s) will inaugurate the new logo. The latest addition to its range is the Revuelto, which is powered by a 1,001-horsepower plug-in hybrid drivetrain built around a new, naturally-aspirated V12. Developed to replace the Aventador, it was unveiled in 2023 with the old logo; if it gets the new logo, early examples with the old emblem will likely be interesting from a collector's perspective. We know that the brand has at least three new models in its pipeline: There's a plug-in hybrid evolution of the Urus, which should also get a handful of visual updates inside and out, and a replacement for the Huracan, which will reportedly downsize to a twin-turbocharged V8 and go hybrid. Lamborghini's upcoming V12 hybrid leaked in patent images

Varryx and Wilco Block are two Euro-based car enthusiasts we've come to know mostly for their ability to get spy video and images of coming treats. They've both done it again, both on Instagram, and both with the same car, publishing a series of design patent drawings. Lamborghini Automobili SpA submitted figures of its hybrid V12 successor to the Aventador to the North Macedonian bureau of the World Intellectual Property Office, perhaps hoping the out-of-the-way geographic location would translate to an out-of-the-way digital sequestration before the reveal this spring. But the Internet hates keeping secrets, so here we are. What we're privy to are every major angle of a coupe that looks like it has the design of the Aventador as its foundation, bookended by fascias from a couple of Aventador-based specials. Varryx provided the colors for the image above.  Lamborghini said design of the Sian FKP 37 "is just for the Sian." Fundamentally, perhaps, yes. But in the patent images, the tall, horizontal-y-shaped lighting DRL that welcomes the sharp, pincer-like curve of the front fenders, and the lower intake outlines make clear connection to the Sian. The Huracan Tecnica is the bridge, the V10-powered coupe adopting another take on the Sian's style. The vertical spat behind the front wheels could also trace its lineage from the limited edition super sports car. The rest of the middle is all Aventador, a swelling body and large side intakes embracing the low cabin and naturally aspirated V12. In back, it's the Centennario, a special edition introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The six long strakes on the immense diffuser mimic the number on the Centennario, the difference being the coming production car moves its exhaust up high, where two Centennario taillights flank with two large hexagonal ports instead of the show car's three small tips down low. That engine will be an all-new V12 unit in a new drivetrain, we've been told, aided by a small battery and some supercapacitor tech that's another nod to the Sian. Total output's a mystery, but the Aventador Ultimae clocked 769 horses, the Countach 800 horses, and those not only didn't have hybrid help, they were lighter. Fear not about the weight, automaker CEO Stephan Winkelmann says drivers won't feel the additional weight. We wouldn't be surprised to hear a number higher than 800.

YouTuber Alex Choi charged with shooting fireworks at a Lambo from a helicopter

YouTubers often do crazy things to get views, and the stunts sometimes run afoul of the law. Alex Choi, a popular content creator and social media personality, recently found the limits of the law the hard way. He was arrested for a video posted last year in which people in a helicopter shot fireworks at a Lamborghini. The 24-year-old is charged with causing the placement of an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft. He made his first court appearance yesterday. If he’s convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison, with charges stemming from ChoiÂ’s alleged lack of a permit to film and carry fireworks in a helicopter. In the now-deleted video, Choi drove the Lamborghini while two women in the helicopter shot fireworks at the car. He said he coordinated the shoot and was listed in the credits as a director, so it will be hard to deny that he had a part. ThereÂ’s no word on charges for others in the video, but the FAA revoked the helicopter pilotÂ’s license for the stunt. Choi is no stranger to auto-related stunts and controversy. In 2022, he hosted a Tesla meetup in which a person jumped a Model S. He filmed the stunt and posted it to YouTube, capturing the driver hitting a parked car. They also allegedly had passengers and a stray cat in the Tesla at the time. Choi is well-known in tuner circles, as heÂ’s been involved in several social media drag races and other events. He raced a 1,000-horsepower Lamborghini Huracan against an 800-horsepower Dodge Polara on HooniganÂ’s YouTube channel a couple of years ago and has been known to do crazy things with expensive cars for views, though this stunt might be one that causes him to think twice going forward.
