Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse brings one-make series to the road
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Lamborghini announced a new Gallardo model today, the all-wheel-drive LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, and it's almost identical to the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo single-series race car. Its world premiere will be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The street-legal Squadra Corse shares key components with the Super Trofeo - both of which are based on the Gallardo Superleggera - including the 570-horsepower V10, carbon fiber rear wing and removable engine hood made in the same material. The rear wing produces up to three times more downforce than what's found on the LP 560-4. Through the generous use of weight-saving materials and components, the Squadra Corse weighs in at 2,954 pounds, which is 154 pounds lighter than the LP 560-4. To stop all of that mass, standard production carbon-ceramic brakes are used.
Carbon fiber bucket seats with Alcantara center inserts replace the regular seats, though buyers can option them back in. Alcantara also covers the underside of the dashboard. The door panels, center console cover, handbrake frame and lower section of the steering wheel are all made in carbon fiber.
How to change the oil in a Lamborghini Huracan: carefully
Tue, Aug 7 2018There are eight oil drain plugs on the underside of the Lamborghini Huracan. And to even get to those drain plugs, 3 covers and about 50 bolts have to first be removed. Suffice it to say, then, that changing the oil in a supercar like the Huracan is a tedious process. And you won't be taking the car to your local Jiffy Lube. Royal Exotic Cars Fleet Manager Jesse Tang was recently filmed changing the oil in a Huracan that the company uses as a rental vehicle in Las Vegas. "It's kinda an expensive car for you to mess up, so ... we don't want to mess up," he says. And so Tang takes his time, checks to make sure he drains a full nine quarts of oil before buttoning everything back up and pouring fresh dino juice back inside the engine. While it's not quite as complicated or as expensive as changing the oil in a Bugatti Veyron, a drain and refill in the Lamborghini Huracan doesn't look like a job for the average backyard mechanic. But most cars are a whole heck of a lot easier to service. If you want to learn how to change the oil in your own car, we've got you covered – just watch the video down below. Ken Okuyama's Kode 0 brings classic '70s design to the Quail
Sat, Aug 19 2017Ken Okuyama designed this, the Kode 0, to invoke memories of such classic '70s supercar designs as the Lancia Stratos Zero, Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Moduro. But its retro-futuristic looks are only skin deep. The Kode 0 sits atop the guts of a current Lamborghini Aventador, including its naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine. Due to its full carbon fiber bodywork, the Kode 0 weighs just 3,417 pounds. That's more than 600 pounds lighter than the Aventador upon which it's based. With 690 horsepower and 507 pound-feet of torque, the Kode 0 can hit 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. The Kode 0's dramatic wedge-shaped design is inspired by the works of Marcello Gandini and flows seamlessly from front to rear. Its almost impossibly short rear overhang and slanted roofline draw the eye toward the acute crease that makes up the rear portion of the passenger compartment. It's certainly striking, especially when the doors open to reveal bright green highlights hiding behind the bodywork. The Kode 0 is radically different but equally as stunning as the Kode 57 that Okuyama unveiled at the Quail last year. See for yourself in our high-res image gallery above.
