Overview
This is a really phenomenal vehicles and one of the best values on the market. I would never be getting rid of this car if I weren't moving to NYC. Originally leased from York Kia of Medford (MA) - roughly 14 months into the lease. ~16,500 miles on the car. All regular service has been performed at the dealership. From the 2.0L Turbo and 250hp to the 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters, this car is a blast to drive. Low, wide profile and sport suspension help it hug the road on turns and the high torque makes it quick off the line. Great top-end acceleration for passing on the highway, and this car has the looks to stop people in their tracks and say, "that's a Kia?" And to top it all off, 5-star safety ratings across the board. Really a great vehicle through and through.

Condition
Car is in great condition. There is minor curb wear on the edges of the rims, and the rear passenger side door has a small dent in it, which I've been told is easy to have fixed at a dealership. Other than that, car runs like a dream.

History
Leased from York KIA of Medford in May 2013. Only reason I'm getting rid of it is because I'm moving to New York City for work and it doesn't make sense to keep the car there. I would never get rid of this car otherwise - it's hard enough to do so as it is!

Shipping and Payment
As it's coming off of a lease, the dealer will be involved in the final transaction. After a bill of sale is issued, the seller will coordinate with the buyer and the dealer to get the license transferred to the buyer. If shipping is required, buyer and seller will work out the specifics, but buyer will be responsible for any fees associated therewith.

Hyundai, Kia announce buyback plan for angry Korean investors

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

Hyundai's controversial decision last September to move its Korean headquarters to an expansive (and expensive) new facility was met with a swift backlash by shareholders. After making the biggest land purchase in South Korean history, the company's share price took a nine-point nose dive.
Now, in a bid to get back in the good graces of its stockholders, Hyundai and its subsidiary, Kia, will make a $615-million stock buyback plan. Reuters claims this is the first time in ten years that Hyundai has made a buyback offer with the explicit purpose of pumping up share prices.
The total deal bumped up Hyundai's share prices 5.7 percent while Kia is up two percent, although neither company has fully recovered from the battering that followed the headquarters announcement. It's unclear what else it will take for Hyundai to recover the ground it lost during the land deal.

Hyundai closes the books on fuel economy litigation

Wed, 25 Dec 2013

Hyundai-Kia ended up with a lot of kimchi on its face in 2012 when it admitted it had mistakenly exaggerated fuel economy estimates on several 2012 and 2013 model-year offerings like the Hyundai Accent, Veloster and Elantra and Kia Soul. Before the admission a lawsuit had been filed by an entity called Consumer Watchdog, afterward there were "approximately 53" lawsuits filed in federal court that were eventually consolidated into one case in a California Central District court.
The companies apologized profusely and gave customers prepaid gas cards that they could refill with funds for as long as they own their vehicle, as well as perks like free car washes and routine maintenance services. The company has just announced that it has reached a preliminary settlement of the case by adding another method of reimbursement, a lump sum payment that would free drivers from having to go back to the dealership to have their mileage verified for debit card refills.
Assuming the preliminary agreement is approved by the judge, customers could choose the lump sum or the cards. The settlement's value could be as much as $210 million, but the exact number depends on which program plaintiffs choose. On average, affected customers will receive $353. Approval could come in "early 2014," after which Hyundai will notify customers. You'll find more particulars on the potential settlement in the press release below.

2014 Kia Sorento garners five-star NHTSA rating

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The 2014 Kia Sorento has just earned a five-start crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as well as a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
According to Kia, the new Sorento scored well in both frontal and side-impact crash tests, while also netting high marks in rollover testing. Orth Hedrick, Kia's American director of product planning said, "Already a compelling entry in the compact CUV category, earning a five-Star rating from NHTSA makes the Sorento an even stronger contender within its segment while underscoring Kia's overall commitment to delivering safety and exceptional value to our customers."
The Sorento joins the Sportage within the Kia range, and the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester in netting a five-star score in the small, CUV segment. Take a look below for the official press release from Kia.
