2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara Brilliant Black 8,500 miles One Owner Perfect Condition Clean title instaVIN NMVTIS vehicle report available upon request (e-mail me) I bought this Wrangler new but have used it sparingly (only 8,500 miles in almost 3 years). I ordered it with exactly the options I wanted and planned to keep it a long time. I moved abroad last year with the intention of shortly returning to the U.S. However, due to work, I will be abroad for a few more years and it doesn't make sense for me to keep my Wrangler. This is the ONLY reason I'm selling it; I love this car. I don't need to sell the Jeep and I'm not looking to sell it quickly (although that would be nice). I am selling it because I'm not using it at the moment and I'll likely be out of the U.S. for the next 2-3 of years and I'd rather not have it go to a good home, rather than just sitting for that long. For some additional detail, I was living in New York (the Jeep was purchased in New York) and am currently working for a U.S. company in Mexico City. The Jeep is currently garaged at my parents' house. The title is free and clear. Please contact me with any questions. The full options are listed below, but it includes both the body-color hard and soft tops. In the winter, the hard top seals the car up as well as any normal SUV. In the summer, the soft top is just awesome for top-down driving. It has always been garaged and I've taken extremely good care of it. It has had no mechanical problems with it and it has never been in an accident or been damaged. It also includes the remainder of the 3-year/36,000 mile basic warranty until November 2014 and 5-year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty until November 2016. Options include: • Quick Order Package (23G) - Standard Sahara options - 3.6L 24V VVT V6 (285 HP @ 6400 RPM; 260 lb-ft @ 4800 RPM) - 6-speed manual transmission - COMMAND-TRAC 4-wheel drive - Dana heavy duty rear axle - 4-wheel anti-lock (ABS) disk - Power Door Locks - Power Windows - Dual Heated Power Mirrors - Alarm System - Keyless Remote Control Entry System - 7-speaker Infinity audio system w/ SiriusXM satellite radio - 160 amp alternator - 600 CCA battery • Connectivity Group (AAJ) - Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity - UConnect Communication System - Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel with phone/audio controls - Leather-Wrapped & Chrome Shift Knob - Remote USB Port - Vehicle Information Center (trip computer and compass) • Air Conditioning with Automatic Temperature Control (HAB) • Heated Front Seats (JPM) • Max Tow Package (AHQ) - 3.73 Axle Ratio - Trailer Sway Damping - 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness - Class II Trailer Hitch (3,500 lbs. trailer weight) • Limited-slip rear differential (DSA) • 18 x 7.5" 7-spoke polished aluminum wheels (WPT) - P255/70R18 On-Off Road OWL tires • Dual-Top Group (AEM) - Body-color (Brilliant Black) 3-piece modular hard top with rear window defroster and wiper/washer - Black Sunrider convertible soft top • Extras - Jeep rubber floor mats - Jeep trailer hitch cover

Government Ending Jeep Investigation

Tue, Jan 21 2014

The government is closing its investigation into older-model Jeeps with fuel tanks that could rupture and cause fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday it has "no reservations" with Chrysler Group's plans to recall the vehicles. The agency is expected to release a report on its investigation in a few weeks. The decision ends an unusually public struggle between Chrysler and NHTSA. The agency asked Chrysler to recall 2.7 million Jeeps last June, contending that their gas tanks - which are positioned behind the rear axle - were at risk of rupturing and catching fire in rear-end crashes. Involved were Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 1993 to 2004 model years and Liberty SUVs from 2002 to 2007. Chrysler initially refused to recall the vehicles. The company said the rate of fuel leaks and fires after crashes was similar to comparable vehicles that were sold during the time in question. It was the first time in two years that an automaker had refused NHTSA's request for a recall. Chrysler later agreed to recall 1.56 million of the Jeeps and install trailer hitches on them to help protect the gas tanks. The company sent notices to the remaining customers saying their vehicles were fine if they have factory-installed or Chrysler-made trailer hitches. NHTSA said late Friday that it has been in close contact with Chrysler and will monitor the recall as it continues. Chrysler has told customers that it will start installing the hitches soon. "Consumers should have their vehicles serviced promptly once they receive final notification from Chrysler,"NHTSA said in a statement. In its own statement Friday, Chrysler said, "We share NHTSA's commitment to safety." NHTSA's outgoing chief, David Strickland, told The Associated Press in an interview last month that Chrysler had convinced NHTSA that the Jeeps were no more dangerous than similar vehicles sold at that time. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," Strickland said. Friday was Strickland's last day at NHTSA. He is joining Venable, a law firm. NHTSA began investigating the Jeeps at the request of the Center for Auto Safety, a Washington-based advocacy group. "It is tragic that NHTSA approved Chrysler's sham trailer hitch recall for Jeeps that explode in rear impacts," the Center for Auto Safety's director, Clarence Ditlow, said Friday.

The Jeep Yuntu is a plug-in hybrid SUV just for China

Thu, Apr 20 2017

The Shanghai Auto Show has been host to a heaping helping of hybrids this year, and we have yet one more to share with you. Jeep created this Yuntu SUV Concept, and it features a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Interestingly, Jeep has very little to say about it, and didn't even provide hypothetical performance figure, apparently because it's just a concept. About the only thing Jeep did tell us was that the Yuntu was designed with a focus on Chinese consumers' tastes, also citing that the SUV segment is the fastest growing in the country. While the design may have been targeted at Chinese buyers, we think the Yuntu would find fans in the US, too. It mixes cues from both the Compass and the Renegade. The roof treatment, with a thick, upright, body-colored D-pillar and black roof come right from the Renegade, as does the generally boxy aesthetic. From the Compass comes the slim seven-slot grille and horizontal headlights. The inside has no parallels to the current Jeep line. It's a light, airy place with plenty of pale woods. The dashboard is effectively all screens, and the few buttons and switches present have a unique copper finish. It's far more futuristic and modern than any Jeep on sale right now. As for what this Yuntu means for the Jeep brand, there are a few possibilities. It could simply be a styling exercise that indicates where Jeep is headed in the future. These future design cues could be applied either to China-specific versions of current vehicles, or they could also appear on vehicles in other markets such as the US. It's also entirely possible that this concept is a preview of a new SUV designed just for the Chinese market. Jeep could do this fairly easily and affordably by putting a toned-down version of the Yuntu's design on the Cherokee platform, which is already built by FCA's Chinese partner, GAC. This wouldn't be the first time a car company created an SUV just for the Chinese market, either. Mazda did it with the CX-4, so Jeep certainly could, too. Related Video:

2018 Jeep Wrangler four-cylinder fuel economy revealed

Wed, May 9 2018

Fuel economy numbers for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder have finally been announced by the EPA. In the city, the two-door model gets 23 mpg, and the four-door Unlimited gets 22. Highway fuel economy for the two-door is 25 mpg and 24 for the four-door. Combined for the two-door and four-door is 24 and 22 respectively. These aren't Prius numbers, but they do make the four-cylinder Wrangler the most efficient version of the off-roader so far. The rest of the Wrangler range with V6 power gets 20 mpg combined, with the exception of the manual four-door, which gets 19. The most efficient V6 models in the city are the automatic models, which, regardless of length, get 18 mpg. On the highway, the best V6 is the manual two-door, which manages 25 mpg, and only loses 1 mpg in the city to the automatic. The question is, is the improved fuel economy worth the price premium of the four-cylinder? The automatic-only four-cylinder engine is an extra $1,000 over a V6 automatic, and $3,000 over a V6 manual. And when looking at the annual fuel cost estimates at fueleconomy.gov, you might only save $50 to $100 each year. The problem being that, while it's more efficient, it also demands premium fuel that the V6 doesn't. So it could be quite a while before the upfront cost is recouped. But if you want a Wrangler that's a little nicer to the planet, it's probably the way to go, plus you get an extra 35 pound-feet of torque over the V6, even if it means sacrificing nearly 20 horsepower.
