2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon - Yellow with Dark Grey interior - 6 Speed Manual Transmission and only 14,070 original miles. Stereo is 6 disk changer and Sirius (factory installed). This Jeep has TWO sets of doors -original and Rugged Ridge Tube Doors (Model TJ 97-06 brand new in sealed box) and THREE tops - Hard Top (with storage garage lift and comealong included), Soft Convertable Top with plastic curtains (storage roll pack is included and top and plastic curtains are in good shape) and Bikini Top with mounting bracket (Bestop brand new in sealed box) - actually four tops if you include the full cover! This fall we put the hard top on for first time because we thought we would use it this winter (we didn't). The rear tailgate also has the added tool kit I bought this Jeep from a good friend so I know EVERY mile that it was driven. I bought it with 12,600 miles and right before I bought it it had its brakes and oil changed. I towed a 13' Boston Whaler down to the shore four times last year and that is the extent of its towing career. You can tell by looking at it that it has never been off road. Somewhere between 3 and 4,000 miles, the Jeep was taken to F/X Automotive in White House Station, NJ where it had the following installed: 4" suspension lift, 1" body lift in front, 2" body lift in the rear (to offset spare wheel weight), Five (5) Ultra Wheels - Pro Comp X Terrain 35x12 50R15 LT M+S Tires, Heavy-duty stabilizing bar, Back Country Tubular Step Bars, Back Country Front and Rear Bumper and alarm with remote. The bumpers are showing some signs of rust on the ends (as they always do - see picture) and I was going to have them re-painted but simply didnt have the time). I am not a professional so it is hard for me to put a condition on the car, but it shows as good as new interior and exterior-wise and runs like new. The pictures do this Jeep no justice at all - it is absolutely the head-turner in town and must be seen in person to be appreciated. I just spent about $600 for the Bikini Top and Tube Doors, $600 to have the four wheels polished and $500 to change the spring boots and had yellow shock boots installed. This $500 also included having the undercoating re-done for rust proofing (it was looking a little old and now looks great under there). I believe that the warranty has now expired so the vehicle is being offered for sale as-is. It is also for sale locally and cannot promise that it will be available for the duration of this ad. Will consider a trade for 2010+ Mercedes C 300, Audi A-4 or BMW 328 Please call with any questions - Joe 215-896-4655.

Chrysler says its 8-speed transmissions will save 700 million gallons
Thu, Jun 19 2014Chrysler Group's TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission could be earning some serious green bragging rights if the company's projections are correct. The recently widely proliferated automatic gearbox, which is now in more than a million vehicles around the world, is poised to save drivers an estimated 700+ million gallons of fuel over the vehicles' lifetimes (an expected cost savings of $2.5 billion). In addition, Chrysler expects a reduction in CO2 emissions by more than six million metric tons. According to Chrysler, and depending on the vehicle, the TorqueFlite can improve fuel economy. The TorqueFlite autobox features particularly close ratios from fifth to eighth gear (see the press release below for the specific numbers), and uses low-viscosity fluid that doesn't need to be replaced. Transmission software adapts to the driving situation to optimize efficiency based on driver behavior, temperature, grade, stability control, and longitudinal and lateral acceleration. The TorqueFlite is capable of handling a variety of duties. As evidenced by the wide range of vehicles Chrysler Group has seen fit to equip with the eight-speed transmission, the TorqueFlite is capable of handling a variety of duties. Since its 2012 introduction, the TorqueFlite has gone from performing cog-swapping duties in Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 models equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 to changing gears in vehicles such as the Pentastar- and Hemi-powered Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee and even the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. For the 2015 model year, the eight-speed is finding its way into even more vehicles with the addition of a third version. In addition to the American-made TorqueFlite 845RE and 8HP70, the new 8HP90 will be manufactured in Saarbrucken, Germany. The 8HP90 is designed for higher torque loads, making it ideal for high-performance vehicles like the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The already-in-use 8HP70 will expand its duties to be used in 2015 Hemi models such as the Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Challenger SRT8. You can see the list of those benchmarks in Chrysler's press release below.
Maserati Levante crossover not Jeep based after all?
Thu, 20 Feb 2014Maserati has been teasing its crossover project since 2011, which is when it first showed off the Kubang concept (pictured above). Still, the production version, rumored to be called the Levante, remains a complete mystery. The CUV was first rumored to borrow the platform from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but new rumors indicate that the Italian, luxury crossover might actually take the underpinnings from the Quattroporte and Ghibli.
In a brief interview, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told CNN Money that the Levante wouldn't use Jeep's platform. Motor Trend spoke with an unnamed Maserati engineer who confirmed the rumor. Officially, the company says that no decision has been made.
We can add this to another long list of rumors about the Italian CUV. It was originally supposed to be built at Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit. Then, plans were changed to build it in Italy.
Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites
Sun, Jan 7 2024Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.
