Here is a 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ SE 4-Cyl 2.5 Liter, 4WD (as they all are).  This is one tough jeep with very low miles and has tons of extras.  Here are the details:

  • 5 speed manual transmission
  • 68,500 miles
  • Airaid air filter (similar to K&N)
  • JET performance Power Control Module
  • half doors
  • Black Neoprene Seat Covers (front and back)
  • Wrangler Grizzy wheels
  • Tires have lots of tread left (>90%)
  • TIRE SIZE
  • Top and all windows are in great shape
  • Paint is about 1 year old
  • Chrome package (grill)
  • Jeep / Chrysler branded fog lights
  • Tube running boards on the side
  • Swagman Bike Rack (attached to spare tire)
  • Best Top Safari Bikini Top (in box).  I typically take the window, doors and top off in the summer and put the safari top on.
  • Nearly $1,000 sound system:
    • Sony detach face radio (with MP3 plug / CD) with remote
    • Sirius Satellite Radio.  Starmate 5 that detached from base and is portable, if you have a Sirius boom box it will fit on it.  It has a remote
    • HD Radio
    • Amp
    • 1300W Sony Xplod Subwoofer (box is screwed to the Jeep so not going to steal it easily)
    • Sound Bar with Sony Xplod speakers / Pioneer speakers in front
  • No air conditioner

I also pulled up the carpet and put down Dynamat underneath the carpet to reduce the road noise.  This is a very fun ride, take the top off and blast the radio and cruise down the road.  Not going to find many Jeeps that can go offroad if needed (while I didn't take it off road) or just cruise with the family to get ice cream.  The thump this Jeep has is very impressive.

NHTSA closes investigation into Jeep Liberty fires

Sun, 16 Mar 2014

The investigation that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened into the Jeep Liberty in October 2013 has been closed. NHTSA received two (!) complaints about fires starting in the driver's door, thought to be caused by the master power window switch. The initial estimate was that 80,000 Libertys could be roped into a possible recall, but according to a report in the Detroit News the agency examined records for 425,000 Chrysler products that used the same window switch, including the Dodge Nitro and Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
After canvassing 265 warranty claims related to the master switches, NHTSA concluded that the rate of fires compared to the "large population of vehicles" was rather low, and that there was no trend pattern behind the few issues it did find. Perhaps with that, and the closure of the trailer hitch investigation, the Liberty can finally rest in peace.

NHTSA closes book on Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall after all

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

After much debating and hand-wringing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now says it has "no reservations" with Chrysler's plan to recall certain Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models over concerns that their fuel tanks, which are located behind the rear axle, could rupture or leak in the event of a rear impact. The longstanding argument between the two entities saw Chrysler openly defy the Feds after a request to recall 2.7 million units back in June.
Chrysler's "voluntary campaign" will instead see it recall 1.56-million 1993-2004 model year Grand Cherokee SUVs, along with 2002-2007 Liberty models. Affected vehicles will get a trailer hitch installed free of charge, which Chrysler says will provide an additional degree of protection for the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. Jeeps with Mopar-branded hitches or hitches that were installed at the factory aren't affected by this recall.
Chrysler's argument throughout this battle has been that the Jeeps in question are no more susceptible to fires than comparable vehicles from the same time period, a position that NHTSA has seemingly arrived at as well. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," said outgoing NHTSA boss David Strickland during an interview with the The Associated Press.
