Body:
It's in real good shape. This Jeep was originally sold in California so there's no rust that I can find. There is a small dent in the passenger door and some sheet metal damage in the lower front corner of the passenger side. The interior of the tub has been Rhino lined so there is no carpet to get dirty or wet.

1. Tuffy storage console between seats and Tuffy drawer under the rear seat one key opens them both.
2. Front seats have been updated Besttop replacement seats
3. Hardtop and full doors.
4. 3/16 crusher corners on the rear of the tub and converted the rear tailgate to fold down like a pickup. The rear corners also have 6" flares that mount to the crusher corners that can be removed to get back down to tub width
5. The front has a set of tube fenders that I constructed much like the flares on the rear. You can take the 6" flare off if you want to get back down to tub width. I also have the stock fenders so you can go back to stock if you wish.
6. Has a Warn W8000 winch installed in front.

Powertrain:

1. The engine is a 4.6L stroker that I rebuilt and installed a year ago. It's got less than 10K on it runs really well. It's got a lot of goodies on the motor, Borla header, exhaust, Mustang 24lb injectors, High Flow water pump, 1999 intake manifold, I also moved the intake temp sensor to the cold air intake and added an adjustable MAP sensor so I could dial the mixture in for the larger displacement motor. You can see the specs for the motor here:http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/stroker.html

2. I replaced the stock fan setup with a Taurus fan and used a Delta Current Controller (These things are amazing!)
3. Built a mount for an onboard air setup using a York compressor. The mount and Compressor are there I haven't finished the plumbing or the wiring yet.
4. The transmission is an AW4 out of the same year of Jeep Cherokee. I've got it wired to operate off of the Cherokee Transmission Control Module which is mounted in the center console. I've plumbed in a transmission cooler in front of the radiator that has its own fan. The transmission works really well and doesn't get hot or overheat doesn't slip or leak oil.
5. It has a Dana 300 transfer case that has been flipped and twin-sticked. I rebuilt the 300 when I put it in the rig and works really well also. With the AW4 and 300 I'm able to run the skid plate flush to the frame without extra drop spacers even with the 5" lift.

Axles/Suspension:
1. The rear axle is a Dana 35 with a Warn Full Floater kit. It's running 4.56 gears and an ARB Air locker. The full floater has hubs that work as a in and out and as a fuse so that if you're going to bust anything it will be the hub and you can simply pull the wheel and slap a new hub on and you're back in one piece.
2. The front axle is a Dana 30 that is running 4.56 gears and an ARB Air locker. The vacuum disconnect and the two piece axle setup have been replaced in favor of a Warn Hub conversion kit and a set of Warn's heavy duty one piece axle kits. It also has a Riddler diff cover.
3. It has a Pro Comp coil conversion kit installed which 4 links the front and the back of the rig. It rides nice doesn't have a huge amount of flex but still does pretty well. I installed a set of Air Ride airbags in the rear so that I could compensate for weight when we're going camping. It seemed to me that the rear coils were always a little bit light.
4. The tires are Truxus 34-12.50-15 on 10" aluminum rims. I have a matching set of 5 rims and tires all are about 80% tread left.

Overall this is a really solid Jeep that is ready to drive or be towed anywhere you need to go. The hub conversions make the rig really easy to tow, you just turn out the hubs, hook up the towbar and lights and go. I would be glad to help with shipping or bring it to an area airport if you want.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets surprisingly comprehensive update, new diesel power

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Traditionally, automotive journalists can be heard muttering something to the effect of "Geeze, it's about time!" whenever a vehicle's midcycle refresh is revealed. As we routinely see and drive new models many months before the public even claps eyes on them in showrooms - and then go on to tweeze apart their minutia in our daily writings - perhaps some impatience is to be expected. With so much exposure to a given vehicle, it's fair to say we tire of most cars and trucks far more quickly than the average consumer.
The alterations are handsome, if not subtle touches from the "If It Ain't Broke" school of design.
Which is why we're pleased to say "Oh, is it time for that already?" when it comes to the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The current WK2 Grand Cherokee hit the market in 2011 and climbed its way into our hearts with its rugged good looks, go-anywhere capability and surprising refinement. We're not yet tired of its appearance or performance, but even so, we're very glad to see Chrysler giving its flagship Jeep some attention, including a much-anticipated diesel powertrain option and some other economy-minded measures.

Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.

2014 Jeep Cherokee

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

The Cherokee Is Dead. Long Live The Cherokee.
There are three sentences that, for this reviewer, define what needs to be conveyed about the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The first: it is very good.
Jeep spent 27 years building the Cherokee and its brand, from 1974 to 2001. Twelve years ago, the Cherokee nameplate rolled away into the distant hills and retirement, at least here in the NAFTA colonies, and it was replaced by a loaded word we knew as "Liberty."
