Don't know where to start. This is a 1988 Jeep Wrangler totally restored with a Chevy 350 4 bolt main motor four and a half years ago. This Jeep has been rebuilt from the frame up and only has 493 miles on it in 4 and a half years. The only thing that was not taken off was the steering box. This Jeep has NEVER been off road since being rebuilt. The motor was built by myself at a local performance shop. Everything but the 350 4 bolt main block is new. The wire harness is a brand new Painless harness. Runs awesome. Little cold blooded at first but comes right out of it in a minute or two.

Here we go, the majority of the parts and advice were provided by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware.The 5 speed transmission and transfer case came from a late model 6 cylinder Jeep from California with 23,000 miles on them and have all new linkages and levers as well as mounts. The motor again is a 350 Chevy 4 bolt main, aluminum intake, Demon 4 barrel carb, serpentine single belt system with new alternator, water pump and power steering pump with new motor mounts. Hedman coated headers and stainless valve covers with K&N air cleaner and breathers. Dual stainless steel exhaust front to back custom installed. New flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. Adjustable fuel regulator with gauge, braided fuel line and throttle cable. Oversized aluminum dual core radiator with an electric fan and billet aluminum coolant recovery tank. The front differential is stock with chrome moly axels. The rear differential is a Ford 8.8 with a Super 88 Axle Kit with a Detroit set of gears and c-clip eliminator system. The drive shafts are heavy duty professionally custom made shafts made from Spicer parts. Gel Cell Optima battery. All brand new brake components, stainless brake lines, calipers, rotors, pads, backing plates, e-brake cables, power booster and master cylinder. All new tie rod ends, tie rods and new pitman arm. YJ 4.5 Extreme-Duty Offroad Kit with heavy duty leaf springs, shackles, pearches, u-bolts  and Rubicon Monotube Shocks. Detachable sway bar and new body mounts. Dick Cepek tires, Radial F-C 2, LT305/170R16 with Dick Cepek Wheels. Warn Rockcrawler bumpers with winch mount and grill protector (not shown) and stainless D-Rings. Sure Step side bars. New steering shaft, bearings and GT steering wheel. All new door, tailgate and windshield hinges. New mirrors and mounts with Safari Doors. Tub underbody professionally undercoated in black and the tub interior is undercoated with the same tint as the jeep exterior color. New lights all around, LED rear lights, new markers and high intensity headlights. New Pioneer stereo with AM/FM and CD with new speakers using factory installation, looks stock. All gauges are Auto Meter Pro- Comp Ultra-Lite white gauges. The oil pressure gage just now is acting up, when turning on the key switch the gages all go through their automatic cycle but then the oil pressure gage pins itself without the motor running. This is new since taking it out of storage. I can assure you the oil pressure is good and suspect the sending unit or gage is defective. The Jeep has Mastercraft interior bucket front seats with 4 point seat belts and lap belts for rear bench seat. New seat risers as well. After market center console. Over $35,000.00 in Receipts not counting time. I also failed to mention the Jeep has a Rugged Ridge Mega Short Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit and a new Centerforce clutch. The following link has a brief video of it running a few days ago and a good view of the whole Jeep. If clicking on it does not work try copying it and pasting it to your tool bar. Next Jeep Wrangler to keep solid axles

Mon, Feb 16 2015

Jeep fans, you're not out of the woods yet, but the latest news is good: Automotive News reports that the next-generation Wrangler will stick with floating solid axles front and rear. Fiat-Chrysler wouldn't comment on the report, but the theory is that the combination of cost, capability, and ease of modification were deciding factors. We're sure the multibillion dollar aftermarket industry is also pleased. Remember, Jeep showed off the lifted Cherokee Dakar Concept at the Easter Jeep Safari last year, but the first ingredient in the recipe for jacking up its independent suspension was, "a whole new suspension." Above that there will be an aluminum body that's smaller than the current one, which Allpar says could be done with a narrower track and tighter gaps. It will sport a fixed windshield with increased rake to improve aero efficiency, and while there are rumors of a diesel-engined version that we'll finally get in the US, there's been no reliable info as of yet to back that up. Jeep Chief and Wrangler Red Rock Responder teased ahead of Easter Jeep Safari

Thu, Mar 12 2015

Jeep is being coy about it's lineup for the 2015 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, releasing just a pair of shots and an exceptionally brief press release on two of the seven concepts coming to the desert later this month. So, what can we glean from the limited assets that have been given to us? Well, as we said, we know Jeep is bringing seven vehicles to its big festival. We also know the names of two vehicles, shown above – there's the Chief and the Wrangler Red Rock Responder. Which is which? A fair question. We're betting the second image is the Wrangler-based Red Rock Responder. As for the Chief, well, we've absolutely no idea what to expect there. Jeep's Moab concepts generally include the model name on which their based – see the Grand Cherokee Trail Warrior and Cherokee Dakar from last year, or even the Wrangler Red Rock Responder, mentioned above. There's no such moniker on the Chief. As for the Chief's illustrated teaser image, as we said, it doesn't reveal much. The body is angular, and quite Jeep like, with squared-off wheel arches and decidedly old-school taillights. Beyond that, though, we don't have much to go on. Expect much more not just on the Chief and Red Rock Responder, but on all seven of the concepts Jeep is bringing to Moab. The party starts on March 28 and runs until April 5. Be sure to check back then for full coverage. Related Video:

Feds fretting over remote hack of Jeep Cherokee

Fri, Jul 24 2015

A cyber-security gap that allowed for the remote hacking of a Jeep Cherokee has federal officials concerned. An associate administrator with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday that news of the breach conducted by researchers Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller had "floated around the entire federal government." "The Homeland Security folks sent out broadcasts that, 'Here's an issue that needs to be addressed,'" said Nathaniel Beuse, an associate administrator with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Valasek and Miller commandeered remote control of the Cherokee through a security flaw in the cellular connection to the car's Uconnect infotainment system. From his Pittsburgh home, Valasek manipulated critical safety inputs, such as transmission function, on Miller's Jeep as he drove along a highway near St. Louis, MO. The scope of the remote breach is believed to be the first of its kind. The prominent cyber-security researchers needed no prior access to the vehicle to perform the hack, and the scope of the remote breach is believed to be the first of its kind. A NHTSA spokesperson said the agency's cyber-security staff members are "putting their expertise to work assessing this threat and the response, and we will take action if we determine it's necessary to protect safety." A Homeland Security spokesperson referred questions about the hack to Chrysler. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has already been the subject of a federal hearing this month, in which officials scrutinized whether the company had adequately fixed recalled vehicles and repeatedly failed to notify the government about defects. But cyber-security concerns are a new and different species for the regulatory agency. Only hours before the Jeep hack was announced by Wired magazine earlier this week, NHTSA administrator Dr. Mark Rosekind said hacking vulnerabilities were a threat to privacy, safety, and the public's trust with new connected and autonomous technologies that allow vehicles to communicate. NHTSA outlined its response to the cyber-security challenges facing the industry in a report issued Tuesday. In it, the agency summarized its best practices for thwarting attacks and said it will analyze possible real-time infiltration responses. But the agency's ability to handle hackers may only go so far.
