1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer station wagon. 1 owner since new. Would be a great car to restore. 143K miles. Good running 360 V8/automatic. Doesn't smoke. Gold w/ tan leather interior. Power seats, windows, locks, fog lights, tow package. Was a daily driver until a couple years ago. Thought the starter had gone out and since I had another car didn't bother to mess with it. Come to find out a couple weeks ago it was just a bad battery. The car is super straight & never wrecked. The body does have some rust. Rear wheel wells and rockers have some small/moderate holes. Small patches of surface rust and bubbles on other parts of the body. Doors are all good. Roof edges above doors are rusty w/ some tiny holes that have been filled w/ silicone sealer. Car had some hail damage in 1992 and the hood & entire roof section were replaced which might explain the rust along the drip rails. There are patch panels available for most of the bad rust spots. Wood grain is worn off. Floors from underneath look good. Car was undercoated when it was purchased new so the chassis was well protected for most of its life. Interior is pretty good. A couple tears in the driver's seat, other seats are good, just worn. Carpet is decent, dash is good. Headliner was falling down & was stapled back up. Bumpers are great, grill has a small piece out of it, driver's side seatbelt is apart, door window trim nice, all glass is good.

The car runs good and will drive around the block but if you are going to drive it everyday I would check the belts, hoses, change fluids, tune-up, etc. since it's been sitting & probably replace the tires. Car doesn't like to move when it's been sitting but once it warms up it seems to go fine. May just need a transmission service. Transmission shifted fine before. 4WD does not work (bad transfer case). Runs fine in 2WD. Car shows 143K miles but may be closer to 148K as the odometer stopped working shortly before it was parked. Engine has only about 90K miles thanks to a dealer forgetting to put oil in after an oil change. Motor was replaced w/ a new Jeep crate motor at that point. A/C is not working. Blew cool but not cold before parked. Heat seems to work. Brakes are good. One rear door window doesn't work, opposite rear door doesn't open. Other door windows work fine, doors open/close solid. Tailgate window works good halfway. I think the rubber seal is hard & binding it. The rear window motor was replaced a few years ago. Front power seats work. Has an aftermarket AM/FM cassette player. Car is 99% complete. Missing a 2 hub cabs and ashtray covers. I do have the parts but as of writing this can't find them. 1 rear armrest is missing in the photos but I have since found it. Hood ornament and one wood grain strip is off but in the car. Car will need a battery. I have one to start it & show it runs but is not included. It's out of my truck and is too tall to shut the hood. Clear Kansas title. Car was well maintained most of it's life at the local Jeep dealer. A lot of good memories in this car and would love to find a good home for it. Certainly worth restoring! If you need further information I can be reached at 913-221-5666. Car is for sale locally as well.

2014 Jeep Cherokee uncovered with bold new look

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Jeep has been shuttling around Alfa Romeo-based test mules and camouflaged prototypes of its replacement for the current Liberty for some time now. Those heavily disguised vehicles may have offered a glimpse of the new Jeep, but a new set of production-line images from Jalopnik tell a much more complete story.
Jalopnik report indicates unequivocally that the Cherokee name will be re-upped in place of Liberty, though it doesn't spell out exactly where that thinking comes from, though a name change has been rumored for some time. Chances are good that the same source that delivered these factory images delivered the name, as well.
The Cherokee absolutely has some Alfa Romeo DNA in its makeup, the final product is far from looking like its Guilietta ancestor. The athletic, high-waisted design is relatively attractive from what we can see here, though the grille and headlight treatment are sure to cause a lot of ruckus when the Cherokee makes its official debut at the New York Auto Show in April. The very narrow, pointed headlamps are pinched in a not particularly Jeep-ish fashion, and the curved, short version of the seven-slot grille is far more rakish than anything that Jeep has produced to date.

Jeep patent filing in China show plans for 3-row Grand Commander

Fri, Dec 8 2017

Back in October, we brought you spy shots of a Jeep crossover mule driving around Fiat-Chrysler's headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. They appeared to show a prototype version of the Yuntu Concept, a three-row utility vehicle unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show and designed for China. Now, new patent filings submitted to China's trademark office and originally reported by Chinese-language website AutoHome appear to back that up. They suggest that Jeep will call the model the Grand Commander, add a seventh seat (the Yuntu had six) and will debut it next April in Beijing. While the Yuntu was a plug-in hybrid, the Grand Commander will reportedly be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 270 horsepower, which sounds like the same four-cylinder engine that powers the 2018 Wrangler. But since Jeep has confirmed a plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler coming for 2020, it's not unreasonable to expect that configuration could come later for the Grand Commander, too, especially considering the Chinese government's push to ramp up production of electric vehicles. The patent filings also list names for other Jeep models in China, including the concept-sounding names Portal and Hyperspace. The Portal was the name Chrysler gave to a pretty nifty electric minivan concept with double sliding bay doors at this year's CES in Las Vegas.Related Video:

Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.
