FOR SALE: 1981 JEEP CJ7

This vehicle was purchased in 1999. I put a new 258 straight six long block in it in

2000. The engine has only 4205 miles on it. This also has an automatic transmission. It is garaged kept and rust free. It has been a slow restoration project for the last 15 years. I do not drive it much, as you can tell.

Listed below are the following things that have been done to it.

Pro Comp 2 1/2 lift, Currie greaseable shackles, Borgston heavy duty steering shaft,

Painless wiring kit, K&N air filter/cleaner, Motorcraft MC-2100 carburetor, oversized

high output distributor set up, new battery, everything under the hood has been replaced,

dual radiator fans (clutch fan plus an electrical), new Best Top soft top with tinted

windows (black denim), half hard doors with mirrors, I also have a black vinyl soft top

with doors and uppers that is in good shape, upper glass door sliders, all new gauges,

It has BF Goodrich All-Terrain 31 x 10.5 tires (90%) tread), Sendel after market wheels,

High lift jack, new front bumper, the entire front end has been replaced (new ball joints,

tie rod ends and rods), it has a heavy duty Tom Woods rear drive shaft with new yolks,

new Flow Master exhaust, Dana 300 transfer case, 20 rear end and a 30 front end, replaced the front seats with some from a 2001 Jeep, new back seat, covered roll bar, six speaker stereo system, the tub had been Herculined and has new floor plugs, new fender flares, and fog lights, new metal gas tank I am sure I can think of a few other things I have done to it later. But I have basically done everything to this except paint it. Serious inquiries only.

Petrolicious profiles an heirloom Willys Jeep CJ-3B

Tue, Mar 8 2016

Things tend to move pretty quickly in the automotive industry, but some icons that endure. Most of them are off-roaders – the Land Rover Defender, Mercedes G-Wagen, and of course the Jeep Wrangler. The latter traces its roots, of course, to the CJ-model Willys Jeep, built for civilian use in the wake of World War Two where it cut its teeth on the shores of Normandy and kicking off a legend that still endures over half a century later. For its latest video, Petrolicious profiles one such off-roader, and the man who owns it. That man is Larry Shank from California, and his ride is a 1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3B hooked up to a 1947 Ken-Skill Kustom Kamper Model 10. Both belonged to his father before him, and they would take family vacations in the wheeled pair from when he was young. His dad taught him to drive and maintain it, and they bonded over the shared experience. Shank still enjoys driving down the dirt roads and off the beaten paths of the American Southwest, and to hear him speak of it, he wouldn't trade in his Jeep for anything in the world. Watch his story unfold in the eight-minute video clip above to see what an enduring icon looks like. Jeep's new Chip Away commercial has us hunting Al Pacino's back catalog

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Chrysler has done a pretty good job as of late turning its television commercials into pep talks or rallying cries, but for its first ad for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it turned to Al Pacino's inspirational speech from the movie Any Given Sunday. In the movie, Pacino's character talks about how football is a game of inches, but the commercial, titled Chip Away, focuses more on the attention to detail that Jeep has exhibited on its updated flagship SUV.
Centering around the newest Grand Cherokee model, the luxurious $47,995 Summit trim level, the commercial shows off some of the hand-stitched leathers and real metal and wood accents found inside the cabin. Check out the new 60-second spot by scrolling below.

Inexperienced Jeep driver buries his Wrangler at sea

Mon, May 16 2016

There's an old maxim in off-roading that states, "Four-wheel drive doesn't keep you from getting stuck, it just gets you stuck in worse places." The truth of this statement was perfectly illustrated recently in a YouTube video of a Jeep Wrangler digging its own grave at the beach. On May 11, a YouTuber named Dan M uploaded a video he titled, "Drunk guy doesn't know how to off-road and ruins nice Jeep." The video, shot at dusk on a rocky looking beach, shows a blue Wrangler driving out into the surf without a care in the world. Dan, providing commentary along with an unseen female companion, was impressed with the Jeep driver's dash at first. "Wow, he must do that a lot because he ain't scared of getting stuck or anything," said Dan. As the Wrangler got deeper into the water, the Dan's friend expressed her doubts that the Jeep driver would make it out, especially when the Jeep got snagged on a little spit of sand sticking out into the water. Dan wasn't worried, however. "No, he'll manage to get out of there, he'll make it out of there. He'll back out and get out," he said. Dan's confidence in the Jeep driver was sadly misplaced, unfortunately. The driver managed to get the Jeep stuck on the sand bar then made the rookiest of rookie mistakes–he just gunned it. "Oh man, he's done! He's done!" yelled Dan as the Jeep driver proceeded to dig a huge hole in the sand that sunk the Wrangler up to its frame just as the tide started coming in. With that kind of dunking, especially in salt water, that Wrangler was probably a total loss, much like the Grand Cherokee that got washed downriver last week somewhere in Europe.
