A link to this document on the Jeep website is also provided in case you prefer direct online access to the report.)

VEHICLE HISTORY

I bought this 2006 vehicle at GSA auction (mileage 65,576) in September 2013.

·       Super clean, original, well-maintained & low-mileage vehicle with minimal wear & tear.

·       Clean vehicle history reports with no prior accidents. In addition to the AutoCheck report included with eBay vehicles for sale, I can provide copies of a Carfax report I purchased on 09/14/2014 (see “Documents available on request” below).

·       Passed inspection as mandated under Chrysler Group recall notice N46 (see “Documents available on request” below to obtain an emailed copy of the recall inspection report).

Maintenance/upkeep since I purchased it:

·       Three oil changes (in 3,300 miles; most recent August 2014).

·       New battery with 54-month warranty (August 2014).

·       New brakes (August 2014). Brakes inspected; pads and rotors replaced on all four wheels.

·       Window regulator assembly (July 2014). Replaced rear passenger-side window regulator, motor, and cables.

·       Steel wheels refinished (all 5, July 2014). Flaking silver finish stripped, wheels recoated with six layers of undercoat finish and chip-resistant clear topcoat.

·       Windshield sustained a ‘star’ chip shortly after purchase; I had it filled immediately by a professional glass shop to prevent spreading and it has been stable since.

·       Tires rotated twice (February and August 2014).  Vehicle was listed as having brand new tires when purchased in August 2013. One tire has slightly uneven wear from being driven briefly while underinflated due to a slow leak (since repaired). Spare is full-sized, nearly brand-new.

Title is free, clear and immediately transferrable.

·       Lien paid in full on 8/25/2014. Seller will provide title, lien release document and bill of sale (along with recall inspection/release and maintenance records) upon receipt of payment in full within seven days of auction’s end (Paypal, cash or certified check/money order accepted).

Additional background on this vehicle is available on request.

·       Please email the seller and request the vehicle factsheet I’ve prepared. It includes extensive info I felt was too long to include in this ad but wanted to make available to those who want to know everything there is to know about a vehicle before buying.

DOCUMENTS AND PHOTOS (available on request by emailing the seller)

Records & Reports (pdf format):

·       VIN-Based Original Equipment List

I got this directly off the Jeep website. It is organized under two sections, one each for Standard and Optional Equipment. The 6-page list includes equipment codes, brief descriptions, and explanations of this vehicle’s features as originally installed at the factory. (Build date: 06feb2006.) Potential buyers who prefer to access this online themselves should be able to do so--just go to http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/ and choose “Equipment Listing” in the left margin, then type or copy/paste the VIN: 1J4GL48K06W217261.

·       Maintenance Documents/Receipts

Documentation of the N46 recall inspection (passed) and other maintenance work done while I owned the vehicle. I can also provide a brief maintenance summary obtained from the GSA Admin Regional Office (Billings MT) shortly after I bought the Jeep at GSA auction. Email me to request.

·       Additional (Carfax) Vehicle History Report

I ordered this report a month ago while preparing to sell the vehicle, then requested updates/corrections that Carfax competed before sending me a updated report on 09/14/2014. Then I wound up deciding to sell the Jeep on eBay, which includes an AutoCheck report for free with each seller listing. If you would like to view the Carfax report anyway, please email me to request a copy.

Photos (.jpg or .png format):

·       I have taken care to post a variety of images with my online ad. However, if you want something additional and can be specific, email me and tell me what you’re looking for. If your request is timely and feasible, I will provide additional photos.

Finding surfing spots in the UK is tough work, even in a Jeep

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

You truly have to love surfing to practice the sport in the United Kingdom. The area isn't exactly teeming with warm beaches full of sunbathers, and absolutely no easy spots to find big waves. To be a UK surfer, you need to be a fearless adventurer, not to mention quite lucky. And driving a Jeep might help, too.
Surfers Oli Adams and Micah Lester are traveling around the British Isles in a Jeep Wrangler Overland trying to find the best surf spots out there. These guys don't fit the laid-back surfer stereotype, but that's because finding waves in the UK is hard work. They say that the waves at some of these spots only exist for about three hours every year when the current and winds are just right.
To find these surf spots, the Jeep's offroad capabilities are paramount. In some areas, as you'll see in the video, there isn't even a beach, just jagged rocks. It would be like the movie Endless Summer, that is, if it could start snowing at any moment. These guys are clearly dedicated to their sport.

WWII Jeep 'found in crate' set to cross Greenwich auction block

Thu, 30 May 2013

Fans of old military vehicles might want to pay extra close attention to the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance coming up this weekend. Crossing the Bonhams auction block on Sunday are a pair of seemingly flawless World War II Jeeps, which are both expected to fetch serious dollars.
Lot Number 305 at the auction is a 1945 Ford GPW Jeep that has been fully restored, which is expected to command between $35,000 and $45,000. Shortly after the Ford GPW, a potentially more interesting 1944 Willys MB (shown above) will be auctioned off, but Hemmings raises some red flags about this Jeep. First, it is claiming to have been "discovered in its original crate about 30 years ago," but there is no proof or documentation of any sort. Also, it is claiming to be all original, but it was given a paint job "shortly after it was discovered." Even with these questionable descriptions, this Willys could reach between $20,000 and $30,000. Head over to Bonhams' site and Hemmings for more information on both WW2-era Jeeps.

Land Rover Defender V8 vs. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 | V8 4x4s square off on paper

Thu, Feb 25 2021

Land Rover pulled the sheet off its 2022 Defender on Wednesday, introducing another high-performance V8 to the off-road segment. This time, it's a 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 boasting 518 horsepower. It will be available in both the Defender 90 and 110 models. In the former, Land Rover says it can crack off a 0-60 run in just 4.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 149 mph. The long-wheelbase 110 will be a bit slower, but "slow" probably isn't the right adjective to use here at all.  But Land Rover isn't the only automaker offering a high-performance variant of its off-road SUV. While Jeep may have been sneered at for presenting the 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 392 on the heels of the 2021 Ford Bronco's introduction, it starts to make a lot more sense in this context. There's reportedly a high-output Bronco on the way, too, so call Jeep the dinosaur of the group all you want, but you can't put a price on being first. Well, you can, actually, but that's not the point.  Thankfully, both Land Rover and Jeep have provided enough specs for us to rough out a comparison chart. Since the Rubicon 392 is offered only in four-door guise, we're looking at the long-wheelbase Defender 110 as its direct competitor here. Have a look: There are a few caveats to mention off the top. For starters, we don't have an official curb weight for the V8-powered Defender yet, as Land Rover has not finalized its U.S. specs. We used the European figures (as provided by a spokesperson), which we expect to be accurate within about 50 pounds. The 0-60 time provided by Land Rover was for the Defender 90, which is smaller and somewhat lighter than the 110. When equipped with the inline-6, the Defender 110 is about a tenth of a second slower to 60 than the Defender 90, so we figure it should be roughly the same for the V8.  While the Defender has nearly 50 horsepower on the Wrangler, that advantage disappears thanks to the Land Rover V8's monster weight penalty, which will fall somewhere between 600 and 700 pounds depending on equipment. Yikes. On the flip side, however, the Land Rover has the edge in top speed, and it's not even close. Chalk that up to the tires, we suspect. We know for a fact that the Rubicon 392's all-terrains dictate its speed limiter; Jeep's own engineers told us as much. This could make for a (hypothetically) interesting drag race, as the Jeep's advantage off the line may evaporate once triple digits come into play.
