2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade 4dr 4wd Suv on 2040-cars
Lemont, Illinois, United States
|
Up for auction is my
2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade 4WD. This is not the Sport or limited Liberty.
Jeep improved this model over Liberty trail rated including better gearing for
off-road and snow taming, rescue hooks, better clearance, among several other
modifications Jeep made to earn the Renegade name. You can identify a Renegade
by its more rugged-looking grill straight hood.
History: I had this
Renegade for years, & it never ever let me down, even when no one dared
drive during the worst snow. It is time to let it go since we got 2 new Jeep
Liberties (Sadly, Jeep does not make the new ones like this Renegade any
more).
Exterior: I maintained
this Renegade to the best standards. It is garage-kept. It has no body damage
(aside from minor scratches). No paint, no accidents, nice looking body is in
excellent shape. The all-terrain tires have plenty of tread to last a good
while. The spare is nearly new. All lights & signals work as
they should. The fog light lenses have minor cracks. The truck was
adult-driven, and well cared for. All 4 doors and tailgate work as they should.
I live reasonably far from the city, & so this is an open road Renegade,
& not a city dweller.
Interior: The interior
is in very good shape. No rips, no signs of abuse anywhere, no unusual odors. A
good cleaning will give you an excellent interior. This Renegade is smoke-free
& pet-free. The buttons all work as they should. Jack, all manuals,
& copies of receipts (if you like) are included. I will also give you a
FREE voucher for OEM trailer hitch to be installed by Jeep at your local Jeep
Dealer.
Under the hood is a
solid working v6 engine, solid transmission, solid 4WD, solid steering, solid
brakes, solid electricals, solid air-conditioner, etc... This Renegade got
on-time oil changes, 4WD service, new brakes, new battery, new tune-up, &
no corners ever cut... That is why I am confident I can drive it anywhere,
anytime. So can you.
If I missed any details,
please let me know, and I will add. One thing is for sure, this Renegade looks
good on its driver, and will go where other vehicles do not dare, in spite of the
worst weather and road, & faithfully get you where you want to go. |

Coronavirus shakes up America's truck market: GM outselling Ford and Ram
Thu, Apr 2 2020FCA, Ford and General Motors joined the rest of the U.S. auto industry in taking heavy volume hits due to coronavirus-related shortages of both cars and customers. The saying goes that a rising tide lifts all boats; it stands to reason, then, that a falling one would have the opposite effect. However, as we learned Thursday, the automotive market can behave in unpredictable ways. While the F-Series remained the best-selling nameplate in Q1, GM's full-size trucks are now outselling Ford's again for the first time in years, and with this upward thrust from the General, FCA's Ram was unceremoniously booted out of a hard-earned second place. While late-March sales declines hit just about every major automaker in one way or another, the model-by-model results weren't nearly so uniform. And because the market tends to be a zero-sum game, for every winner, there generally has to be a loser. In this case, that winner was GM, and its rise had to come at the expense of another automaker, in this case, Ford. F-Series sales dropped 13.1 percent in the first quarter of 2020, while sales of GM's full-sized Silverado and Sierra surged nearly 28% in the same period. FCA's Ram lineup managed a steady-as-she-goes 7% increase. All-in, GM finished the quarter with 197,743 full-size trucks sold to Ford's 186,562. Here's the full breakdown: Ford F-Series: 186,562 Chevrolet Silverado*: 144,734 Ram P/U: 128,805 GMC Sierra: 53,009 *includes 1,036 Medium Duty sales Things are a but murkier in the midsize segment, where the Chevy Colorado slipped 36% to just 21,430 units sold — just a few hundred better than the slow-selling Ford Ranger's Q1 numbers. The GMC Canyon experienced an almost identical slide, finishing the quarter with just 4,483 units sold. For perspective, Jeep sold more than 15,000 Gladiators and Toyota's midsize Tacoma slipped less than 8%, finishing the quarter with nearly 54,000 sales. We suspect this discrepancy in full- and mid-size truck sales comes from shifting incentives. Ford, GM and FCA would like to keep selling bigger trucks because there's far more profit margin built into their list prices. Even with tens of thousands of dollars in manufacturer money on the hood, big trucks still make money. Since these automakers report quarterly, we won't get another good look at these numbers until July, but if you thought that 2019 represented the new normal for U.S. auto sales, well, think again.
Fiat Chrysler picks Google, Samsung for global connected car system
Tue, Apr 30 2019DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler said on Tuesday it will use technology from Alphabet Inc's Google and Samsung to connect all its vehicles by 2022, providing music and video and facilitating future car-sharing and self-driving capabilities. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA) will use Google's Android operating system globally instead of a mixture of software that varies by region, a spokesman said. The automaker will also use a cloud-based digital platform from Samsung Electronics Co Ltd's Harman unit. Unlike its rivals General Motors and Ford, FCA has spent virtually nothing on developing self-driving vehicle technology. This saves the company large amounts of money, but makes it reliant on outside parties to provide technology and systems. FCA said it will launch the new capabilities in the second half of 2019. The company said the system will aid owners "by predicting maintenance needs, locating fuel and charging stations, receiving traffic prompts and restaurant offers and providing live customer-care assistance at the push of the button." 2016 Jeep Wrangler to ditch solid axles to save weight?
Tue, 29 Oct 2013Hey, Jeep fans. If you think the idea of a funky-looking, car-based Cherokee revival is offensive, have a listen to what might be in store for the next-gen Jeep Wrangler. Automotive News is reporting that as Jeep develops the 2016 Wrangler, weight reduction is a crucial target, and the Wrangler's rugged solid axles could be sacrificed in the name of better fuel economy.
We've already heard the next Wrangler will go on a serious diet using aluminum body panels and an air suspension system, so the idea of a four-wheel independent suspension setup for this OG SUV isn't all that surprising. Besides, it's not like an independent suspension would limit the Wrangler's off-road abilities - just check out the Hummer H1. In fact, it might be the aftermarket parts companies - not Wrangler enthusiasts - who would be most disappointed by such a drastic suspension change, as the article states that the Wrangler's solid axles and coil-link suspension make it the most popular SUV for customization.
There are probably still a couple years before we'll start hearing any concrete details about the 2016 Wrangler, at which time it will be interesting to see how stricter fuel economy and crash safety regulations have been balanced with traditional Wrangler cues like its removable doors and roof and folding windshield. Let us know in the comments below if a Wrangler sans solid axles is any less of a Wrangler.
