2023 New York Auto Show Mega Photo Gallery: See all the new cars from the show
Thu, Apr 6 2023The 2023 New York Auto Show was a rather lively show full of North American vehicle debuts and a lot of new metal we’ve never seen before. As always, we were on the ground covering it from every angle for you, including photographing all the reveals on the show floor. There were a ton of new EVs shown and even a stunning concept with the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept. YouÂ’ll be able to see them all, from the production Ram REV to the little (but now much bigger) Kona, in the numerous galleries below.  2024 Kia EV9 2024 Kia EV9 View 7 Photos 2024 Kia EV9 GT-Line 2024 Kia EV9 GT-Line View 5 Photos 2025 Ram REV 2025 Ram 1500 REV View 6 Photos Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept View 9 Photos 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric, N Line and Limited 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric View 21 Photos 2024 Jeep Wrangler 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe View 22 Photos 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness View 14 Photos 2024 VW Atlas Peak Edition 2024 VW Atlas Peak Edition View 7 Photos Hyundai Ioniq 5 Disney100 Platinum Concept Hyundai Ioniq 5 Disney100 Platinum Concept View 9 Photos  Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Key-swapping thieves steal Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT from FL dealer
Sat, 09 Nov 2013Just a few weeks back, we reported on the theft of an Audi RS5 by a pair of creative thieves who managed to swipe the car's keys when the salesperson stepped away from their desk. Now, a Florida dealership is missing a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 after some crooks switched the Jeep's keys with an identical, non-functioning set.
According to the report from local NBC affiliate WPTV, the men went in and spoke to a dealer about the Jeep. They walked outside, took a look at it, started it up and in the process managed to switch out the fobs. After doing their time with the salesperson, the thieves walked back out to the car, got in and drove away.
"I mean obviously, the way it was done, I think that they were professionals and they knew what they were doing," said Arrigo Jeep General Manager Joe Tufo. "The fact that they did it in broad daylight and switched the key fob and it was like it was nothing. That's what makes it unique," he added.
FCA will pay you to hack its systems
Wed, Jul 13 2016FCA is willing to pay you to hack its cars, as long as you tell the company how you did it. In an effort to enhance cybersecurity and prevent future incidents like the Jeep Cherokee hack last year, FCA announced it's working with Bugcrowd to find vulnerabilities in its vehicle software. Bugcrowd labels itself as a crowdsourced application security testing company. Users, or independent security researchers as Bugcrowd calls them, can find exploits or vulnerabilities in FCA systems. They then submit the information to Bugcrowd, who in turn supplies the info to FCA. The goal is to update systems and close any possible security breaches. FCA is offering bounties from $150 to $1,500 to any Mr. Robot types, with payment based on the size and severity of the flaw. FCA wants hackers to focus specifically on the UConnect website and the company's iOS and Android apps. No bounties will be given for anything outside the scope of those three things. Bugcrowd says it will not take any legal action against anyone who submits an exploit. While we think it's good that the company is taking steps to address these problems, it's not a groundbreaking maneuver. Other companies employ similar systems. Earlier this year, both Tesla and Uber announced that they're willing to offer up to $10,000 to hackers who find vulnerabilities in their system. For years, Microsoft has been paying hackers to find exploits. It also seems that FCA took its time to announce this plan, considering the Jeep hack happened nearly a year ago. If the partnership works, we can expect other automakers to make similar deals. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
