Jeep was armored by Square 1 Armoring company out of Florida (still in business) and the build plate is mounted inside the motor bay. This vehicle was originally purchased by the US Department of Defense and was used by someone in the department for most of it's life (not many miles). It was then sold to a businessman in Canada, spent a brief time there before I aquired it via a broker in Washington state.

Original miles on this vehicle are as shown in the photo (38,193), but when it was moved to Canada they had to convert it to KM's which came out to 62,000 km's and once I brought it back to the states they transferred it back to miles.

I bought it about a year ago as I was planning on making quite a few trips to Mexico, but I am no longer going to do that and have no need for it anymore.

Vehicle is in very good condition for it's age and it runs and shifts excellent. The only thing I did since I have owned it is change all fluids and had the master cylinder replaced. There are some normal small door dings and scratches as one would expect from a vehicle of this age.
Tires are in great shape (like new Michillens)

This jeep is armored with opaque and transparent armor components. I was told that the transparent armor is from Iso-Clima and the Opaque armor consists of high hardness steel lateral armor, with steel in the firewall with US Dept of State approved overlap system. Pillar posts and sail panels are armored with rigid composite armor. Floor and roof armor is of layered ballistic composites. Tailpipe is caged and it appears the fuel tank it armored. I was told it had run flats but cannot confirm it.

I'm not an expert on armored vehichles, so I cannot guarentee everything I was told. I can guarentee this is an armored vehicle built for the DOD and the DOD never bought anything under a B4 level. I believe this jeep to be either B4 or B5 level armor.

The hood alone must weigh a hundred pounds, it's heavy.

There are some issues with the windows; the front windshield is cracked and there is some distortion in the passenger side front and rear window along with the drivers side rear. Also, the hood stand is missing.

The Jeep is still drivable with the front windshiled cracked, but I would suggest replacing it as soon as possible. I will give the winning bidder contact info for the manufacture who quoted me about $3200 for a new front windshield. This is a very good price and will pass the info along.

If you know anything about these vehicles they are very expensive to buy (even used discreet armored vehichles are expensive). I'm not going to give it away, but somebody will get a good deal.

Vehicle is being sold 'as is' and no warrenty is given or implied.

Shipping costs are to be buyers.

Watch a Cayenne Turbo S, Range Rover SVR, and Cherokee SRT drag race

Thu, Mar 17 2016

We live in a weird world where high-performance SUVs could win a 60-mile-per-hour sprint against sports cars from just a few years ago. Here, Top Gear sets up a three-way drag race against the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR, and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and the results show just how quickly these high-riding models can cross the quarter mile. The Cherokee SRT is the patriotic choice among the three, but it's down on power in this fight. Meanwhile, the Range Rover's menacing growl sounds the best, and the Cayenne Turbo S has the most horsepower. You'll have to watch the video to see which SUV will win this battle. Related Video:

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and SRT climb onto stage

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

This is indeed a case of not knowing how much we wanted something until it arrived. We've been big fans of the Jeep Grand Cherokee ever since the new model arrived a couple of years ago, and while the update you see here might seem just a slight refresh, it's actually much more than that.
For starters, the 2014 Grand Cherokee marks the return of a diesel model here in the States, with Chrysler's new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 under the hood, churning out 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Of course, all of the Grand Cherokee's usual off-road goodies are on hand, with moderate tweaks to make it an even more capable vehicle when the going gets rough. Both the gasoline-fed 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8 get the new eight-speed auto, as well.
The high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT also trudges on into the new model year, with very subtle tweaks found underneath the aggressive, slightly redesigned sheetmetal. The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 also gets eight-speed gearing, which Chrysler says will improve not only 0-60 times, but mid-range performance as well. Bring it on, we say.

FCA UConnect fiasco could set over-the-air updates back years

Fri, Feb 16 2018

Since cars have become more software dependent, most major automakers have been inching toward enabling over-the-air updates to keep vehicle electronics, ranging from infotainment systems to safety features, current. But there are only two car companies — Fiat Chrysler and Ford —± currently doing OTA updates, and on a limited basis. GM CEO Mary Barra announced last summer that the automaker will launch a new EV architecture and infotainment system capable of over-the-air updates "before 2020." The one exception, per usual, is Tesla. Since the release of the Model S almost six years ago, the maverick EV automaker has made routine OTA software updates a core part of its vehicle platforms and value proposition, and has sent out updates for everything from adjusting ride height to enabling Autopilot, largely without incident. When I've asked automakers why they can't do the same thing, I've heard reasons ranging from running afoul of their dealers (and archiac regulation) to security concerns. Automakers like Ford and General Motors say they want to act like tech companies, which routinely send out OTA updates for a wide range of devices, but overall the car industry still moves at a very cautious snail's pace. And when automakers do try to move faster and take more risks — unlike with a smartphone update, which people bitch about but live with — the consequences can be significant when things go wrong. That's the case with Fiat Chrysler America and its recent public-relations nightmare when an OTA update went awry. The update went out at the end of last week for the Uconnect system in late-model vehicles, and it made head units go into a near continuous reboot, which caused owners to not only lose access to entertainment features, but also critical functions like emergency assistance. Almost immediately, owners took to Twitter to express outrage, and FCA was caught flatfooted. A tweet went out on Monday on the UconnectCares Twitter account that read, "Certain 2017 & 2018 Uconnect systems may experience a reboot every 45-60 seconds. Our Engineering teams are investigating the cause and working towards a resolution.
