1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee for sale! I replaced Engine & Trans last year and both have less than 125000 miles; I also have paperwork on engine/trans purchase and install. This vehicle is 2wd and very strong with a trans that was built with a shift kit; so it shifts strong from 1st to 3rd. From there to OD it smoothes out as it should and gets approx 24 mpg even with those large tires. It has new brakes on steering, and a fresh oil change It has pw sun-roof, seats, door locks, cruise control, anti-theft system, tilt steering and has the feature ( I don't know what it's called ) that allows driver to operate radio/cd player from the steering wheel. It also has that thing above the rear view mirror that tells the temp, direction ect ( don't know what that's called either lol ). It has running boards and comes with a trailer hitch I purchased but never installed. The passenger seat needs a switch that can easily be replaced, but I'm throwing in a trailer hitch to compensate since I will no longer need it. The vehicle could use 2 rear tires ( 31x10 50 R 15 ) in which I'll replace with additional costs (approx $150.00 used )! This vehicle will last the owner a long time as long as they don't climb trees, jump ditches or treat it as if it can swim! I'm selling because I'm too old to continue climbing into my transportation! The only fluid I didn't change is the rear-end! I'd rather the purchaser see what's in there before I do so! Thanks for Looking

Marchionne: Midsize pickup still not in the cards; Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler could use aluminum

Wed, 07 May 2014

During the Fiat-Chrysler briefings on Tuesday, Reid Bigland, head of Ram Trucks, outlined the new product plans for his brand, including confirmation that an all-new light-duty Ram 1500 will launch in 2017. From there, discussions spun off in two directions, with the main questions being: will Ram build a midsize pickup? And, following Ford's move to extensively use aluminum in its new 2015 F-150, will Chrysler be using this weight-saving material for the next round of its fullsize truck, as well?
"I think there is room for a Ram 1000," Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above) told members of the media, saying this is a conversation the automaker has been having internally for several years now. "We've tried this ... we've actually taken it to clinics," Marchionne stated, adding that the "response has been lukewarm."
"I have better use of aluminum in this house than a pickup truck." - Sergio Marchionne

Chrysler registers Trackhawk trademark

Wed, 01 Oct 2014

There may not be many ways to forecast what an automaker is planning for the future, but there are some. Trademark applications are one of them, and Chrysler has just applied with the US Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name "Trackhawk." The question is, what's it planning on using it for? We don't know for sure, but we can put together an educated guess or two. And one guess is that Jeep will use the name to replace the letters SRT on the performance version of the Grand Cherokee.
How do we figure, you ask? From a number of developments. For starters, the SRT division has been reintegrated into the Dodge brand. Those letters currently appear on only two vehicles from outside the Dodge lineup: one is the Grand Cherokee SRT, and the other is the Chrysler 300 SRT. We've heard ruminations (however unconfirmed) that the latter could be either discontinued or possibly relabeled, and if the same proves true of the GC, the Trackhawk name could serve as a on-road performance counterpart to the Trailhawk label applied to off-road versions of models like the Cherokee and Renegade.
Logical it may be, but it's hardly a foregone conclusion. The Trackhawk name could just as easily be used for a new concept (like the Trailhawk name was in 2007), for another kind of trim level or for something else entirely. In fact we don't even know for sure it'll be used by the Jeep brand specifically, or used at all for that matter. Automakers have been known, after all, to register names they don't end up using.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
