I have owned both a 02’ and 03’ Grand Cherokee. They both have been great cars but this is the best.  It is beautiful and meticulously equipped.  I should explain, while off road in the 02’, a freak accident occurred causing the top radiator hose to pop off leading to engine failure.  The insurance bought the car and I bought the car back for equipment and parts; consequently, since both cars are WJ’s, I have a lot of replacement parts that go with this auction.

The car being auctioned has the following equipment:  All Grand Cherokee limited factory features including Leather seats with power front, Jeep CD changer w/ two 10 disc cassettes, AM/FM with Sirius radio receiver, power windows and doors, etc. The car has not been in an accident nor have I taken the car off road. It is in wonderful condition.  There are a couple of small dents that came with the car when I bought it.

The off road additions include the following:  Gearing change to Yukon 4:56, Spartan rear locker, Auburn front locker w/dash button control, JKS rear adjustable control arms, Heavy duty front lower adjustable control arms, JKS quick disconnects, Custom skid pads on  front control arm hangers, Machined front spring retainers (keeps spring from popping off), Machined spacers for rear spring , 3.5” lift kit, Bilstein shocks, Heavy duty transfer case skid plate, Heavy duty rock sliders, Eight  265/70R17 Yokohama ATS 10 ply tires all mounted KMC Aluminum wheels (4 town & 4 off road), one stock jeep tire and wheel, NV231 Transfer case with heavy duty output shaft  w/ Slip yoke eliminator, Custom rear drive line, ARB front bumper with 9000 lb. winch w/nylon rope (includes both wire & remote control), custom rear steel bumper w/tow shackles, SS driving lights wired to stock switch, LED high mount stop light.

Other refinements include Wilderness roof rack with spare tire holder. Alpine DVD player w/three remote headsets, Mud mats front, rear & cargo liner, Garmin GPS w/mount.

This auction includes owner’s manual along with the original NV242 transfer case & driveline (good working condition when removed).  From the 02’ the following parts are included: Complete set of front and rear Leather seats (power front) w/no rips or tears, set of headlights, tail gate assist lift arms (like new), Eight engine coils, starter, alternator, both left and right power side view mirrors, front grill, side window glass, three power window regulators w/motor, both front axles, Track bar, Steering arm, Overhead control module, plus other odds and ends.  All these additional parts along with the tires will not fit into the car; consequently, if you want everything, it will need to be shipped or trailered.

The Grand Cherokee performs.  All fluids have recently been changed except the engine oil which will be due soon (six quarts Mobile 1 synthetic oil w/filter included). The spark plugs were replaced last summer.  The brake rotors and pads were replaced last summer. I drive typically 3000 to 4000 miles per year. All nine tires have excellent tread. While I had the majority of the work done professionally, I did print off a set mechanics manuals which will be included.

There is no death wobble and the car runs powerful and strong. It can handle most off road terrain and still be a good daily driver.  Occasionally, a little axle wrap and noise from the Spartan locker.  I am now 74 and my wife needing more care; consequently, this beautiful car need a good home. Thanks for looking.

Inexperienced Jeep driver buries his Wrangler at sea

Mon, May 16 2016

There's an old maxim in off-roading that states, "Four-wheel drive doesn't keep you from getting stuck, it just gets you stuck in worse places." The truth of this statement was perfectly illustrated recently in a YouTube video of a Jeep Wrangler digging its own grave at the beach. On May 11, a YouTuber named Dan M uploaded a video he titled, "Drunk guy doesn't know how to off-road and ruins nice Jeep." The video, shot at dusk on a rocky looking beach, shows a blue Wrangler driving out into the surf without a care in the world. Dan, providing commentary along with an unseen female companion, was impressed with the Jeep driver's dash at first. "Wow, he must do that a lot because he ain't scared of getting stuck or anything," said Dan. As the Wrangler got deeper into the water, the Dan's friend expressed her doubts that the Jeep driver would make it out, especially when the Jeep got snagged on a little spit of sand sticking out into the water. Dan wasn't worried, however. "No, he'll manage to get out of there, he'll make it out of there. He'll back out and get out," he said. Dan's confidence in the Jeep driver was sadly misplaced, unfortunately. The driver managed to get the Jeep stuck on the sand bar then made the rookiest of rookie mistakes–he just gunned it. "Oh man, he's done! He's done!" yelled Dan as the Jeep driver proceeded to dig a huge hole in the sand that sunk the Wrangler up to its frame just as the tide started coming in. With that kind of dunking, especially in salt water, that Wrangler was probably a total loss, much like the Grand Cherokee that got washed downriver last week somewhere in Europe. Jeep bringing Renegade Hard Steel with adorable matching trailer to Geneva

Sun, Mar 1 2015

Trailers are hardly an uncommon site. They can, after all, be an effective way of adding cargo capacity when you need to haul more than you can fit in your car and truck. But there's something that just gets us about trailers made to match the vehicle behind which they're being towed. Like this one, attached to this unique Jeep Renegade. Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show mere days from now, the Renegade Hard Steel concept is a joint effort between various elements of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, including Jeep, Mopar and the FCA Style Centre. It's based on the Trailhawk off-road model, but is distinguished by its unique metallic finish, offset by matte black trim and a full raft of available and custom Mopar accessories. Though Jeep has yet to show us what it looks like inside, it's said to have a specially coated leather finish. And of course there's that trailer. Designed to mimic the Renegade's rear-end styling, the appendage will be used on the floor of the Geneva Palexpo to showcase the vehicle's Uconnect Live infotainment system through an oversized pop-up touchscreen display that mirrors the new 5- or 6.5-inch display that'll soon be available on the littlest of Jeeps, offering streaming content including music, news, social media and traffic conditions. We have no indication that a similar trailer could be going into production (minus, of course, the infotainment stuff), but it's worth noting that Jeep has indeed done something similar before. Feel free to read more in the press release, below. Related Video: 27 February 2015 Renegade Hard Steel Jeep Showcar The Renegade Hard Steel Jeep showcar, which blends style, off-road vocation, and technology, will be making its debut and the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. Created by the Jeep brand, in collaboration with the Mopar brand and backed by the FCA Style Centre, the showcar "explores" the potential of a model that provides countless customization options, while also providing an outlook for potential future Mopar accessories dedicated to the new Renegade. Based on the Trailhawk - the off-road version of the range - the prototype is not a simple customisation in aftermarket but a design project that, with due respect to the peculiarities of original models, has led us to the creation of a unique and fascinating article.
