1970 Kaiser-spec "C101" Jeepster Commando in Show Condition! 64,086 miles!!! It is remarkably original, with the only modifications being the suspension, tires and a sound system. I am the third owner. This Jeepster was totally refurbished with total body repaint (inside and outside) and undercoating. The interior retains the stock Commando patina. The sound system was updated with a Pioneer CD system and a 1200 watt X-Plode kicker amp with condenser. The Dauntless V6 makes 160hp and has recently been given a thorough tuning and has been completely serviced. This vehicle is super clean inside, outside, underneath and on top. This Jeepster is a show winner, most recently in November at The Jeeps in the Vineyard Show held in Shamong NJ where it took 3rd place for Ultimate Shine! There were over 200 Jeeps. Amazing head turner that drives like a machine from yesteryear. This must be seen in person to appreciate. This Jeepster is driven every now and then, so mileage might change slightly. |

Australian Jeep marketing stunt goes awry [w/video]
Tue, 15 Jul 2014Jeep fans in Australia are none too happy with the off-road brand following a contest that saw ten new Cherokees sold for just $10,000 Australian (about $9,400), roughly a quarter of the vehicle's price Down Under.
The contest, called the "World's Most Remote Dealership," gave Aussies the chance to snag an ultra-affordable Cherokee Longitude (analogous to the US-spec Latitude trim), provided they could get to a secret dealership in the remote wilderness of western New South Wales, near the border with the state of South Australia.
In order to get the exact location of the dealership, though, potential customers needed to download an app, which would release a phone number 9:00 AM AEST on Thursday (7:00 PM EDT, Wednesday night). The first ten people who could call in and prove they could afford to finance $10,000 and get to the remote dealership, were given the location of the remote dealership.
2014 Jeep Cherokee configurator up and running
Fri, 09 Aug 2013Production delays aside, Jeep is steaming towards its September on-sale date for the 2014 Cherokee. The reborn midsizer's configurator has just gone live, meaning you can fiddle with different options, colors and trim levels to your heart's content.
The cheapest model available is the 4X2 Sport, which starts at a reasonable $22,995. On the high end, the Cherokee's builder allowed us to indulge our passion for ludicrously priced vehicles by outfitting the top-end Trailhawk, which already starts at $29,495, with $8,610 in options. The resulting car, which you can see above, would retail for $39,100 after the $995 destination is factored in.

100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration
Thu, 29 May 2014It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.
