1970 Jeep Cj5 , Kaiser, 35" Tires, Twin Stick Transfer Case, And Full Soft Top on 2040-cars
Bayside, California, United States
|
Selling a 1970 CJ5 Jeep. Last year for the Kaiser tags before AMC took over production. This Jeep has been fun, but it's time to move on to the next one.
The good: Runs and drives. Has the 225 cubic inch Buick V6 Dauntless engine. Runs good and has a surprising amount of torque/pep 4 speed transmission with a granny first gear Twin transfer case sticks to independently switch front and rear axles Warn manual front hubs Newer heater that works well Nice condition Best Top with full doors that convert to 1/2 doors Spring over lift with longer shackles 35 inch Gumbo Mudder tires Oil pressure, water temp and volt meter gauges work Clear California title on a current non-op No smog required in California, it's a 1970 model The not so good: Has rust as shown in the pictures. The worst is through the front fenders and cowl area. The whole Jeep is mechanically and cosmetically worn The steering is okay off road, but feels very loose on the pavement. Might be an adjustment issue or worn parts. The front drive line was crudely lengthened, but is functional The transmission cross member was crudely fabricated, but is functional Has no shocks. I've only used the Jeep off road and it did not bother me. Speedometer and fuel gauges don't work No parking brake No rear seat The bottom line: This is a off road drivable work in progress. It would be at home as a ranch/hunting rig. It is not ready to drive safely on the road and is a great start to a project jeep. The engine runs well and it is lots of fun in the hills. Depending on your desired use, this is either a good start or is ready to just be a fun dirt toy. I can be reached by email or phone at 707 599 2315 for further questions or to see in person. I can help load onto your trailer or meet your shipper, but the cost is all up to you. I require a $500 non refundable deposit via paypal with 48 hours of auction end and cash or a cashiers bank check for the balance within 7 days or at time of pick up, whichever comes first. |

Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid confirmed for 2020
Thu, Nov 30 2017The Jeep Wrangler will get a plug-in hybrid electric model in 2020, brand head Mike Manley confirmed this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show in a move he says is "future proofing" the legendary off-roader. "A full plug-in electric Jeep Wrangler will be available in 2020, furthering our commitment to all those who value the responsible, sustainable enjoyment of the great outdoors and very importantly, future proofing this Wrangler for generations to come," he said after the reveal of the 2018 model. It was reminiscent of a Steve Jobs 'One More Thing' moment from an Apple event. Manley explained the details of the new Wrangler, codenamed JL, and then dropped the EV nugget near the end of the press conference in Los Angeles. He didn't offer up further details like range or power. The plug-in hybrid will join a now-expansive powertrain lineup for new generation of the Wrangler. Jeep will offer a mild hybrid next year with its 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. Called eTorque, the hybrid adds regeneration, stop-start and electric power assist. This system makes 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. In 2019, the Wrangler will get a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine rated at 260 hp and 442 lb-ft. The tried-and-true Pentastar V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft also continues. In an exclusive interview with Autoblog in January, Manley previewed the Wrangler's electric plans at the Detroit Auto Show. "The hybridization could actually help Wrangler," he said, noting it could improve torque distribution, a critical element for four-wheel drive vehicles." He added, "Electrification, absolutely. I could see Wrangler being a form of electric." The 2018 Wrangler goes on sale in January featuring a raft of improvements. It is about 200 pounds lighter thanks to the use of aluminum. There are also new engines, updated styling features and a nicer interior. Fri, Feb 26 2021In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. It's all V8s all the time this week, starting with the Land Rover Defender V8 unveiling, Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance debut and pricing announcement on the Jeep Wrangler 392. Next, they move on to what they've been driving. Spoiler alert: That means more V8 talk. Zac has been driving the Cadillac Escalade with the 6.2-liter V8 and BMW M550i with its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Greg and Zac take a pause from the V8 theme by discussing their shared time in our long-term Acura TLX. From this, they segue into a "Spend My Money" feature about garage lifts to finish the show. Happy 50th birthday, Jeep Wagoneer
Thu, 02 May 2013
The Wagoneer got the SUV on the radar of buyers looking for something capable, comfortable and rugged.
The Jeep Wagoneer was introduced 50 years ago, and it's that vehicle we have to thank for the herds of excellent crossovers and SUVs that make up our current automotive landscape. On a personal level, I have always loved the full-size Jeeps and their crisp Brooks Stevens styling, which aged well over their long tenure on the market. The SJs, as they're known among enthusiasts, were the Wagoneer and its two-door counterpart, the original Cherokee. The Wagoneers had become true luxury vehicles by the end of their run, which stretched form late 1962 as a '63 model all the way to 1991, when they were offered exclusively under the Grand Wagoneer nameplate.
