111,xxx miles, Shell Rotella synthetic run for the last 11k. Engine has received a stellar bill of health via oil analysis from Blackstone labs. Motor was recently tuned up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor) and I installed a new distributer at the same time. Jeep was lifted/axle swapped at 100k miles, I've owned the jeep since 86k, and have worked on it since ~60k miles. I bought it from a friend and I am the third owner. Maintenance was always done on time; it was dealer maintained by the first owner. The Jeep has been wheeled but never beaten on. There are only 3 actual wheeling trips on this rig.

Here is the modification list:

Engine/Driveline:
99+ intake manifold
THOR cowl intake
APN header
Catalytic convertor replaced with OEM at 90k
Flowmaster 50 muffler
Brown Dog poly motor mounts and engine brackets
Poly trans mount
New CSF radiator and fan clutch within the last year
Valve cover gasket replaced less than 1k miles ago
AW4 filter screen replaced and fluid flushed last summer, temp gauge and external cooler fluid installed and it runs at 100F on the highway, never gets into the yellow around town.
New A/C compressor but the system has a slow leak somewhere, I charge it up in late May and it lasts the whole summer (works great when charged).
231 has HD SYE (not sure of brand)

Front axle:
1978 ford HP44
5.13 Yukon gears, OX locker, Reid knuckles, Nitro alloy shafts and 760x joints
Parts Mike highsteer knuckle on passenger side for true crossover steering
Tie rod is heims over the knuckle, drag link is TREs, trackbar uses heims as well.
PSC hydro assist kit with cooler and delphi "fast" ratio box... faster than stock, not the race box however.
warn premium hubs, stage 8 locking locking spindle nuts
All seals, bearings, brakes, ball joints etc are new
Custom truss and inner C gussets, uses factory XJ/TJ/ZJ control arm bracket geometry

Rear axle:
late 80s ford D60-ISU
5.13 Yukon gears, Lock-Right locker, disc brake kit (Ford 1/2 ton rotors, 1/2 ton chevy calipers, Impala SS pads), factory 35 spline shafts, Ballistic cover and axle bridge

Suspension:
Rock Krawler 4 link kit, Deaver 5.5 coils and Deaver G9 leaf springs... the best you can buy for a Cherokee XJ
HDOffroad shackle relocators and RE 1.5" shackles
Custom valved Bilstein 9100 shocks... 11" travel 2.5 weld top fronts with remote resi and 13" travel 2.0 rears with remote resi. rear shocks are threaded for coilover hardware.
Prothane bumpstops

I also added a Dodge 2500 master cylinder and Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve for extra power and adjustment of the bigger brakes.

Jeep is plated front to back with HDOffroad stiffeners, with extra stiffening on the inside, outside, and bottom of steering box area. Jeep is also caged (not finished) with a hybrid-style cage using 1.75x.120 DOM tube. Rockers were cut out and replaced with 2x5x.25 wall box tube.

Other extras include a TNT belly skid, DPG gas tank skid, JCR corner guards with LEDs, Dirtbound Offroad rear bumper, and custom front bumper/crossmember replacement. The factory front crossmember was cut out and was replaced with the 2x5x.25" box tube front end. It is also drilled and ready for a winch to be mounted behind the bumper. Headlights are Hella DOT H4 headlight upgrades with harness, and there are Hella micro DE fog lamps cut into the front bumper. I added LED rock lights and reverse lights as well as a LED lightbar (which may or may not be included with the jeep, depending on purchase price). There is a prime4x4 switch panel in the jeep as well as a marine fuse box in the engine bay for extra accessories. Also has heated mirrors, factory overhead console, LED interior lights, and a Viper remote start/keyless entry system. Sub/Headunit/Speakers may or may not be included depending on selling price. Sub is a 10" Rockford P3 driven by an Infinity amp, Kenwood Excelon deck w/iPod control, and (4) Polk db 6.5" speakers. C02 tank and tow rope show in trunk NOT INCLUDED. Has brand new hatch struts.

Tires are 35" MTZs on H2 wheels, tires were bought new when the lift was installed.

I have extra parts/spares/fab parts and DOM tube which can be added to the jeep as well when it sells. I have a spare 35" BFG AT with 30-40% tread left on another H2 wheel as a spare, and have a 35" MTZ with 10-20% tread unmounted.

I built this Jeep to be able to drive across the country, go offroad, and drive back home. It was built for 37" tires and will handle those comfortably. It can drive on the highway at 75 MPH without issue.... No vibes, no wobbles. It is very easy to drive and it 100% daily-driveable. It has it quirks like all built Cherokees do, but nothing major. The doors have been modded for easy removal so they are a bit out of alignment but shut just fine normally, there are a few dents/scratches but the Jeep is very clean outside and in. The windshield has a crack but it still passes inspection. The rear is a bit lower than the front right now, but all that needs to be done to fix this is move the shackles forward one hole on the brackets and shims added to the rear to set the pinion angle. This Jeep is a joy to drive onroad and off, but I don't use it anymore so it is time for it to go. I may be forgetting a few details here and there, feel free to ask. Price is negotiable, can include/remove pieces to change price.

NHTSA investigates FCA for SUVs that roll out of Park

Tue, Aug 25 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into the 2014 Dodge Durango and 2014-205 Jeep Grand Cherokee after 14 complaints of the SUVs rolling out of Park. An estimated 408,000 of them could be affected, if a recall is necessary. All of the current complaints submitted to NHTSA about the issue concern the Grand Cherokee, and the claims allege that the SUV can roll out of Park whether or not the engine is running. Some folks report that they check the indicator each time because the gear sometimes fails to engage. Among the 14 cases, there are five accounts of crashes and three injuries, including a situation with someone allegedly being rolled over. NHTSA's preliminary evaluations are meant to investigate "the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequence" of a reported problem. They don't necessarily lead to a recall. The unintended motion has occurred with both the engine off and the engine running. ODI has also identified EWR field report data related to the alleged defect. The model year 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles are equipped with an electronic gear selector (shift-by-wire system). The gear selection is made by pressing the shifter-paddle forward or backwards; the shifter does not move along a gate path as with conventional gear selectors. A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to asses the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequence of the alleged defect. The VOQs associated with the opening of this investigation are: 10733158, 10730952, 10683556, 10679497, 10583366, 10725429, 10715401, 10711893, 10676998, 10668651, 10662619, 10662308, 10605865, and 10567538.

Marchionne: Midsize pickup still not in the cards; Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler could use aluminum

Wed, 07 May 2014

During the Fiat-Chrysler briefings on Tuesday, Reid Bigland, head of Ram Trucks, outlined the new product plans for his brand, including confirmation that an all-new light-duty Ram 1500 will launch in 2017. From there, discussions spun off in two directions, with the main questions being: will Ram build a midsize pickup? And, following Ford's move to extensively use aluminum in its new 2015 F-150, will Chrysler be using this weight-saving material for the next round of its fullsize truck, as well?
"I think there is room for a Ram 1000," Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above) told members of the media, saying this is a conversation the automaker has been having internally for several years now. "We've tried this ... we've actually taken it to clinics," Marchionne stated, adding that the "response has been lukewarm."
"I have better use of aluminum in this house than a pickup truck." - Sergio Marchionne

Jeep's 75th Anniversary Wrangler Salute rolls down the line

Fri, Jul 15 2016

UPDATE: The commemorative 75th Anniversary Jeep Wrangler rolled down the assembly line in Toledo, Ohio today. With its roll bar, doors, and rear seat removed, it really does pay fitting tribute to the classic Willy military models of the past. The 419 area code stenciled on the bumper and date on the hood look period appropriate. Well done, Jeep. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly when the Jeep Wrangler was born, but the automaker claims the legendary off-roader as we know it today was officially created in 1941. On July 15th of that year, the US Government awarded Willys-Overland with a contract to build the Willys MB, which quickly got the nickname "jeep". To commemorate its 75th anniversary, Jeep has created a WWII-themed Wrangler that pays homage to the Willys MB. The gorgeous concept most likely won't see the road, which is a shame as the rugged one-off yanks at the heartstrings of truck enthusiasts and historians alike. Based on of the current Wrangler Sport, the olive-drab Wrangler 75th Salute concept imitates the original Willys MB to the tee. The concept has no B-pillars, no doors, no roll bars and honors the "function over form" styling of the original military vehicle. The concept rides on 16-inch steel wheels that are wrapped in 32-inch non-directional tires and features vintage-looking hood latches, steel front and rear bumpers with tow hooks, and low back canvas seats. The Salute concept will be built on the same assembly line in Toledo, OH that has produced the Wrangler for decades. In addition to putting out an image of the concept, Jeep also touched on the rich history of the original Willys MB, which you can read below. Related Video: In July 1940, the U.S. military informed automakers that it was looking for a "light reconnaissance vehicle" to replace the Army's motorcycle and modified Ford Model-T vehicles. The Army invited 135 manufacturers to bid on production and developed a lengthy specification list for the vehicle, including a 600-lb. load capacity, wheelbase less than 75 inches, height less than 36 inches, smooth-running engine from 3 to 50 miles per hour, rectangular-shaped body, four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case, fold-down windshield, three bucket seats, blackout and driving lights and a gross vehicle weight below 1,300 lbs.
