Up for auction is a super rare 1997 Jeep Cherokee factory stick shift five speed transmission truck. They made millions of these XJ Cherokees, however very few manual transmissions between 1997-01. I have been told less than 400 per year were sold in the U.S. with a manual transmission between 1997-01. Years ago when I purchased this truck, I looked for 3 months for it. They are very hard to find!

I have owned and enjoyed this Cherokee for many years and it has been meticulously maintained. I am only selling it because I needed a larger vehicle, so I ended up buying a Ford Excursion. I really don't want to sell, but then again I really don't need it anymore.

Starting off with the body, it is near mint and almost rust free. Two years ago Clausen Collision in Ira, Michigan completely restored the body, including new rocker panels, a new driver side fender, and a new passenger side floor pan. It was completely repainted at the time as well.

The header panel and grille were replaced two months ago because I hit a deer. It was a minor accident, but did require a new radiator. The A/C condenser was damaged, so it was removed. I planned to put a new one in before summer if I still have the Jeep, so the A/C currently does not work, but it does have a new radiator.

Within the last two years both axles were completely rebuilt, with new differential side bearings installed. The front is a Dana 30 and is equipped with a lock right locker and new wheel bearings and axle shaft U-joints. The rear axle is a 29 spline 8.25 Chrysler. Both axles have new brakes, and the rear has new shocks. Both axles have stock 3.07 gears. The transmission is an AX15 and the transfer case is a 231J

The tires are BFG All Terrains and are 30x9.50x15 and have less than 10,000 miles on them.

There is a custom 2 inch receiver built into the front bumper that also has mounts underneath for a tow bar. I used to tow this behind my motorhome and will include the tow bar for an additional $100 to the high bidder should they wish to purchase it.

The exhaust, including the catalytic converter, is new.

Within the last 10,000 miles the following parts have been replaced: Water pump, Alternator, Full tuneup including coil, O2 sensor, VSS Sensor, Clutch, Brakes, Tires, Washer motor . I have put over $3,000 into the Jeep in the last two years keeping it in the great shape it is.

The only known issues are the lack of AC Condenser, The rear wiper and washer do not work, and the Engine light turns on and off randomly but it runs great, and the turn signal does not return to center, I have a new switch that will be included with sale.

The interior is fair but getting worn. I used the vehicle for alot of highway miles delivering flowers, so the seats have some staining from various flower arrangement chemicals that leaked onto them. They might clean up with a good detailing machine but I'm not sure. All the plastics are good. There is a nice set of Huskyliner floor liners. The steering wheel is peeling and taped.

The Jeep has a brake controller for towing. It runs and drives great, and gets great fuel mileage. It also has rare crank windows!

I have recently driven this truck all the way to the Mexican Border and back, and would not hesitate to drive it to Alaska tomorrow.

The title is clear and in my name.

All the glass is good. One small chip in the windshield.

This truck is located in Marine City, Michigan.

Sold AS IS Where Is. Keep in mind this is an older vehicle and not perfect, although this one is very nice. I will consider delivering for a fee, or you can fly in and drive it home, I can pick you up at Detroit Metro or Flint Airport. It runs and drives great. The vehicle will not be available for pickup Mar 31st-April 6th.

Full payment will be due within 7 days in CASH or Certified Check/Bank Transfer only. If you wish to pay entire balance with Paypal, you must pay Paypal fees that are charged to me as well. Must be picked up within 30 days of auction end and after 30 days I reserve right to resell with no refunds being made.

This is your opportunity to own a fantastic rare Jeep, don't miss out! Bid Often, bid early!

You are more than welcome to come and view vehicle in person before bidding, however I will not sell outside ebay. My number is 8onezero 614-8038 please call 9AM-9PM please

Fiat 500X poised for Paris catwalk

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

We've known for some time that the new, Fiat-based baby Jeep (which may or may not be called the Jeepster) is set to arrive at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. What we weren't sure of was whether its platform mate, the so-called Fiat 500X, would be doing so alongside or at a later date. Well, according to Reuters, we'll get to see the first all-wheel-drive 500 later this year in the City of Lights.
Yes, we can expect the 500X to arrive at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, according to an official with an Italian trade union. The unnamed source cited retooling at Fiat's Melfi factory, in southern Italy, which currently produces the Grande Punto. It's expected that the newest member of the growing 500 family will replace the Suzuki SX4-based Fiat Sedici, although when the X will go on sale remains an open question.
According to Reuters, both the Jeepster and 500X will be built alongside each other in Italy. Whether the 500X will cross the pond with it's slat-grilled cousin, though, remains to be seen (we're leaning towards yes).

Coronavirus shakes up America's truck market: GM outselling Ford and Ram

Thu, Apr 2 2020

FCA, Ford and General Motors joined the rest of the U.S. auto industry in taking heavy volume hits due to coronavirus-related shortages of both cars and customers. The saying goes that a rising tide lifts all boats; it stands to reason, then, that a falling one would have the opposite effect.  However, as we learned Thursday, the automotive market can behave in unpredictable ways. While the F-Series remained the best-selling nameplate in Q1, GM's full-size trucks are now outselling Ford's again for the first time in years, and with this upward thrust from the General, FCA's Ram was unceremoniously booted out of a hard-earned second place.  While late-March sales declines hit just about every major automaker in one way or another, the model-by-model results weren't nearly so uniform. And because the market tends to be a zero-sum game, for every winner, there generally has to be a loser.  In this case, that winner was GM, and its rise had to come at the expense of another automaker, in this case, Ford. F-Series sales dropped 13.1 percent in the first quarter of 2020, while sales of GM's full-sized Silverado and Sierra surged nearly 28% in the same period. FCA's Ram lineup managed a steady-as-she-goes 7% increase. All-in, GM finished the quarter with 197,743 full-size trucks sold to Ford's 186,562. Here's the full breakdown: Ford F-Series: 186,562  Chevrolet Silverado*: 144,734 Ram P/U: 128,805 GMC Sierra: 53,009 *includes 1,036 Medium Duty sales Things are a but murkier in the midsize segment, where the Chevy Colorado slipped 36% to just 21,430 units sold — just a few hundred better than the slow-selling Ford Ranger's Q1 numbers. The GMC Canyon experienced an almost identical slide, finishing the quarter with just 4,483 units sold. For perspective, Jeep sold more than 15,000 Gladiators and Toyota's midsize Tacoma slipped less than 8%, finishing the quarter with nearly 54,000 sales.  We suspect this discrepancy in full- and mid-size truck sales comes from shifting incentives. Ford, GM and FCA would like to keep selling bigger trucks because there's far more profit margin built into their list prices. Even with tens of thousands of dollars in manufacturer money on the hood, big trucks still make money.  Since these automakers report quarterly, we won't get another good look at these numbers until July, but if you thought that 2019 represented the new normal for U.S. auto sales, well, think again.
