Up for sale is my Father's 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport
Dad purchased this vehicle new from our local Jeep dealer upon his retirement in 1997; we are the original owner's. We have every bill and receipt since buying new. Dad was extremely fussy about his vehicles, and it shows. ORIGINAL 39,715 MILES!!! Always babied and maintained. We even have all of the inspection receipts from the last seven years documenting the low mileage.  In the last few years, the Jeep has only been driven an average of about 500 miles per year.

Partial list of new items that have been installed within the last 1000 miles or so:

New Yokohama Geolander A/T (235/75/15) tires.
New front brake pads
New front rotors
New front brake lines
New rear wheel cylinders
New rear brake lines
New serpentine belt
New upper radiator hose
New exhaust
New headlights
New rear hatch struts
New front wheel axle u-joints

Exterior: Very good condition, paint shines like new, only a few very minor chips in paint and one small crease on passenger rear door that is virtually undetectable. There was a small amount of bubbling on rocker panels just below rear doors, but has been touched up. Black fender flares have been touched up- they will eventually flake off again! Undercarriage is typical for 18 year old car. Not a show car!

Interior: Excellent condition, dad had seat covers front and rear on since the day he bought it; they were just removed as they were a bit faded. Husky floor liners also in since new. No rips or tears on any seats. Some light staining on carpeting. One very small tear (1/4")  on headliner. Original am/fm factory radio. Sony cassette player  (in box) included, with correct adapters.  Dad had the dealer install power locks, but they don't always seem to work; manual locks work just fine.

Spare tire has never been out of car, neither has jack,...

Mechanical: Never off road, never abused. Always maintained. Battery was replaced approx. 2-12 years ago,. Starts and stops fine, A/C does not blow cold anymore, all components are there, very likely a small leak. Compressor makes no strange noises or squealing. Car stops great; very firm brake pedal feel with no pulling or fading. Transmission shifts firm. Engine uses no oil- no smoking or noises.
4x4 indicator light on dash does not illuminate , (new switch req'd around $15-$20, however all 4x4 components work flawlessly, both high and low range. See above list of newly installed components. K&N air filter. Air raid throttle body spacer.

Two sets of keys, owner's manual, original window sticker, original build sheet from assembly line included.

CURRENTLY INSPECTED IN PA. UNTIL AUGUST, 2014. WILL HAVE NEW INSPECTION COMPLETED NEXT WEEK.

MUST READ BELOW:

I have described vehicle in honest detail; I take pride in honesty and want the bidder to know exactly what they are bidding on; that being said, it is a used car, almost 18 years old. Anything could go wrong at any time, but it is highly unlikely. I know this car inside and out- please ask any and all questions before bidding; you will be expected to pay what you have bid; you are not bidding on a negotiation, or a chance to low ball in person. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS! Sold as/is with no warranty expressed or implied. No refunds!

FOR SALE LOCALLY, MAY CANCEL AT ANY TIME.

Thank-you.

It's a V8 party! Lexus IS 500, Cadillac Escalade and more | Autoblog Podcast #667

Fri, Feb 26 2021

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. It's all V8s all the time this week, starting with the Land Rover Defender V8 unveiling, Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance debut and pricing announcement on the Jeep Wrangler 392. Next, they move on to what they've been driving. Spoiler alert: That means more V8 talk. Zac has been driving the Cadillac Escalade with the 6.2-liter V8 and BMW M550i with its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Greg and Zac take a pause from the V8 theme by discussing their shared time in our long-term Acura TLX. From this, they segue into a "Spend My Money" feature about garage lifts to finish the show. Least reliable cars and trucks of 2022

Tue, Nov 15 2022

Related: Most reliable cars and trucks of 2022   Every year, Consumer Reports ranks new cars based on their predicted reliability. We often see Toyota, Lexus, and a few other automakers near the top. But on the other side of the coin, the list of least reliable vehicles sometimes contains surprises.   The organization surveys its members to determine the vehicles that exhibited the most problems over the prior year. Owners are asked about creaks and rattles, the durability of parts and trim, and mechanical issues. Consumer Reports assigns a weight to each problem and then uses them to create a score, with 100 being the best. Some familiar names appear on the list of least reliable vehicles (in order with the lowest predicted reliability score at the top), but there are a few eyebrow-raising models, followed by CR's score: Ford F-150 Hybrid: 4 Hyundai Kona Electric: 5 Lincoln Aviator: 8 Nissan Sentra: 9 Ford Explorer: 16 Chevrolet Bolt: 17 Chevrolet Silverado 1500/GMC Sierra 1500: 19 Jeep Gladiator: 21 Mercedes-Benz GLE: 23 Jeep Wrangler: 24 Consumer Reports noted that sedans are the most reliable vehicle category and found that trucks are far lower on the list. That said, the survey showed that trucks from American brands tended to have better reliability scores, so it’s surprising to see GMÂ’s big two and the Ford F-150 on the list. Part of their problematic ownership experience could be due to the fact that all three trucks have received recent updates, and the Ford was completely redesigned for 2022. New tech, fresh drivetrain components, and other improvements can upset the balance of reliability and make newer models look less dependable than their older counterparts. 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

There will forever be a soft spot in my heart for the Jeep Wrangler. The last one I owned was red, and, as a 1990 model, had the square headlights derided by Jeep enthusiasts who grew up on the Civilian Jeeps that descended from their General Purpose military ancestors. As a teenager, I couldn't have cared less what shape its headlights happened to be - to me, a Jeep Wrangler represented freedom; a carefree do-it-all machine equally at home with the top stowed away in the summer or with the heater on full blast in the snowy clutches of Old Man Winter. In Dr. Seuss parlance, my square-headlighted Sneetch was just as worthy as any round-headlighted Sneetch.
All that said, I'll be the first person to advise against buying a Jeep Wrangler of any sort for owners who don't plan to use it as its makers intend. There's no good reason to punish yourself with a stiff and springy ride, a loud and somewhat drafty (though generally water-resistant) interior or the poor fuel economy expected of a block-shaped vehicle if you don't enjoy its other, more exciting benefits.
Of course, Jeep has done its darndest over the years to make the Wrangler as civilized as possible while keeping it as capable as federal law will allow. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition is one of Jeep's latest attempts to attract attention from the upper reaches of the active lifestyle set, and I spent a week with one to see what makes the Moab special.
