I buy/sell 4X4 oil/gas fleet trucks and ship them all over the world. Sometimes we buy a whole fleet of vehicles and I get my hands on something I appreciate like this little 2 door 4X4 Jeep Cherokee Classic. I have owned a lot (have 3 right now) of these classic square body Jeeps, they are great off road vehicles and extremely popular here in the high mountains of Colorado. This one owner Jeep was used in New Mexico as a city planning vehicle, had excellent (I have all records from when it was new) fleet maintenance, adult owned, has never been abused. If you have been searching for a cheap, rust free, straight, low mile 2 door older Cherokee to build as an off road machine, this might be the one. If you are local I urge you to inspect this Jeep in person, sold as is where is, make me a reasonable offer and you will own it.

Please read all of the ad below before you call me with questions or make on offer. As for questions, I'll always give you blunt, candid answers, I am happy to photograph anything you would like to see closer. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime without warning as this Jeep is for sale locally.

I am located in Durango Colorado, I will consider helping with delivery within 100 miles for .85 a mile after the Jeep is paid for in full.

The Good Stuff:

This is a nice older Jeep, though nearly 20 years old I would not hesitate to jump in and drive this Jeep anywhere on a minutes notice. Has a very good running 4.0 6 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, 4x4, cold AC, a toasty heater, is clean inside and out, tilt wheel, manual windows/locks, zero rust, AT tires are about 50% on factory steel wheels, has a brand new spare tire mounted on an aftermarket external spare tire mount, has recent oil-filter change, air filter etc. I had my mechanic check it out, he installed new rear u joints, a new steering stabilizer, new valve cover gasket, new front brakes and had a professional alignment preformed. I also had it professionally detailed inside, everything works as it should, it needs nothing, just turn the key, point it and go.

The Not So Good Stuff:

This Jeep is almost 20 years old so there are some negative things to be expected. I am being "nit-picky" about little stuff because I value my feedback and reputation. There are 2 small places on the fiberglass grill that are scraped (see photos) There is some light damage on the driver's side rear fiberglass hatch corner (see photos) The drivers seat (there are tons of these rigs in salvage yards and seats are cheap) is really the worst thing on this car, it has some stains and a couple small "tear outs" on the edge, the rest of the interior is excellent for it's age (see photos) There is a "puncture" in the vinyl on the inside of the passenger door (see photos) There are 7 small holes in the headliner, reminds me of ski tip damage (see photos) There is a small crack on top of the dash from age and a couple drilled holes under the dash from a previous radio install. There is a super thin hairline fracture at the base of the windshield (my cost for a new windshield is $130 installed if you would like one after the sale) Please note, there was a large blue stripe added to this vehicle by the city, it runs from the headlight down to the rocker panel then back up again to the rear tail lights. The stripe has been masked and painted over (again by the city) I cannot get it to show up in a photo so there is a close up photo to try and show the "hard edge" of the strip (see photos) There is a small square hole cut in the rubber end cap on the passenger side rear bumper (see photos) The driver's window regulator is pretty stiff and I can't seem to figure out how to fold the front seats forward, I suspect operator error, lol. Aside from the above list and some overall age related normal used car type stuff this is an very decent, great running older Jeep Cherokee and will make the someone very happy to own it.

Shipping: I have shipped trucks all over the world, have connections in the auto transport industry and have the ability to arrange wholesale shipping anywhere in the USA but the cost is entirely yours. For example, I just shipped a Jeep wrangler to Oklahoma for $600 and another to Wisconsin for $650, figure approx .55-.65 a mile.

2014 Jeep Cherokee marketing launches with 'Built Free' commercial

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

Now that the 2014 Cherokee is finally on its way to dealerships, Jeep is starting its marketing blitz for its new crossover, beginning with this 60-second TV spot, called Built Free, that premieres today. Set to a Bob Dylan recording, the ad spot discusses something we can all relate to - the feeling of being too busy and too cooped up with everyday tasks to really get out there and explore the world. But as Jeep says in the commercial, "You're still here. And you're still you. The horizons haven't gone anywhere."
Autoblog spoke to Kim Adams-House, head of marketing for the Jeep brand, who explained that this Built Free spot is "an anthemic piece" that "sparks the conversation" for the new Cherokee. As you'll notice, none of the new Jeep's features - its off-road systems, nine-speed automatic transmission, etc. - are mentioned in the ad, but Adams-House says that future marketing "will speak to more" of the CUV's highlights. Following this 60-second spot, 30-second commercials will launch that talk about some of the specific product features.
When asked if the Built Free campaign will include any throwbacks to the original Cherokee, Adams-House told Autoblog that while "we love that vehicle," the new spots are intended to carve out "a unique space for Cherokee in our product portfolio and marketplace." On that same note, don't expect any other Jeep vehicles to get the Built Free treatment. Adams-House said that while this ad "does resonate overall with the brand," it is solely intended to promote the new Cherokee.

Toledo continues fight for Jeep Wrangler production, despite mayor's death

Thu, Feb 19 2015

Where will the next-generation Jeep Wrangler be built? That's an open question, but it's one that the city of Toledo, OH desperately wants to be the answer to. The city suffered a major blow, though, with the death of Mayor Michael Collins earlier this month. Collins had been the city's biggest champion during talks with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, before suffering a fatal heart attack on Feb. 6. But Collins' tragic death isn't dampening the city's desire to carry on as the home of the Wrangler. "The mayor's passing is tragic. But on Monday, when I came to work, I knew exactly what I needed to do and exactly what needed to be done," the city's director of development, Matt Sapara, told the Detroit Free Press. According to the Freep, Sapara said Toledo and the state of Ohio have delivered an outline of a development plan that would give FCA the ability to buy an extra 100 acres to expand the factory. This is to help accommodate FCA's targeted output of 300,000 to 350,000 next-generation Wranglers, up from the 240,000 the factory can make now. "Our target in the proposal is to provide a way to increase the production capacity to a number that allows Fiat Chrysler to meet its business model," Sapara told the Freep, adding that the land could be available later this summer. FCA, meanwhile, has shown a somewhat ambivalent attitude towards Toledo production, with CEO Sergio Marchionne openly discussing the pros and cons of continuing to build the Wrangler south of the Michigan border. "We are going to take a very hard look at this without ignoring what these guys have done," Marchionne told the Free Press at last month's Detroit Auto Show, adding that he'd like to keep production there, provided the cost of retooling is comparable to relocating to another facility.
