Up for auction is a 1984 Jeep Cherokee "Wagoneer" 4x4 . This Jeep is possibly the lowest mile XJ still in existance with only 53,054 original miles. It is equipped with a 2.5 liter Hurricane 4 cylinder engine with an automatic transmission. The exterior of the Jeep is in near perfect condition with all the original paint that shines as good as it did the day it was new. The only flaw on the exterior of the Jeep is the paint on the plastic fender flares is starting to crack a little. (see pic)  This Jeep is RUST FREE! It has been in Gadsden, Al all of its life and sold new here at Sutherlin Automotive. As for the interior of the Jeep, it is all original (even down to the radio) and in mint condition as well with no funny smells or rips and tears. This jeep is mechanically sound... Starts right up with a pump of the gas and drives down the road perfectly with freezing cold air. This Jeep comes with all the paperwork which includes the original window sticker, original bill of sale, books and even the paperwork where the original owner extended the factory warranty. The Jeep shows to be a 2 owner but is realistically just a 1 owner as the original owner passed away and it was willed to the executor of the estate which is the last registered owner.(comes with all paprwork showing the chain of ownership down to the death certificate). As you can tell by the pics the jeep is also equipped with a Warn Brush Guard and a 6k lb winch. Like I stated before ths Jeep runs and drives great... so I believe you could drive this jeep anywhere so FLY IN AND DRIVE HOME!!! As you can tell by my feedback I try to describe my listings the best I can so BID WITH CONFIDENCE! Don't miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of history as this is the first year jeep made the xj.  Feel Free to contact me by phone anytime @256-312-1021 my name is Kevin. Birmingham airport pick is available if needed.

Consumer Reports digs Mazda3, disses Jeep Cherokee

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has just rendered its verdict on two of the more important cars to launch this year - the Mazda3 and the Jeep Cherokee. Considering the value a "Recommended" rating carries with the public and the viciously competitive markets these two cars compete in, Consumer Reports' view could have some impact on their initial success.
For Mazda, that's a good thing. CR spoke quite highly of the Zoom-Zoom brand's compact sedan and hatch, testing both models, and citing the excellent fuel economy and snickety-snack manual shifter as high points. Downsides to the 3 included a ride that is agile but "nervous," a bit too much noise and a cramped back seat. Still, the 3 was good enough to earn its place in the ranks of the "Recommended."
The Jeep didn't fare quite so well, with CR calling the polarizing CUV "half-baked." Although both engines were tested, the magazine called the 2.4-liter four-pot underpowered and its nine-speed automatic unrefined and unresponsive. That's particularly damning, considering the 9AT's role in future Chrysler products, including the extremely important 200. Overall, the Cherokee missed out on the coveted "Recommended" rating.

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.

Toledo gets proactive in fight to keep Jeep Wrangler

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

Let's make this very plain - the city of Toledo, OH loves its Jeeps. It loves them so fervently that the very rumor of the Jeep Wrangler moving out of its traditional home prompted the city's mayor, D. Michael Collins, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to hold a weekend conference call with Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne.
"The purpose of this call was for the mayor and governor to gain clarity on Mr. Marchionne's comments last week regarding the possibility of the next generation of Jeep Wrangler being built at a location other than the Toledo North Assembly Plant," a spokesman for the mayor's office told The Toledo Blade.
While no further commitments were made by any party, Collins and Kasich's statement was quite unequivocal about keeping Toledo's unwillingness to let the Wrangler go, saying "the city and its partners will again rise to the occasion to ensure that the new Wrangler is made in Toledo." According to the newspaper, the next step is for face-to-face meetings between officials from Ohio and FCA.
