This auction is for a 1986 CJ7.  Vehicle was stripped down to frame.  Frame was sanded, cleaned, and painted with UV resistant restoration chassis paint.  The original CJ body had some rust issues indicative of it's age so the body was replaced with a new fiberglass tub with steel reinforcement plates embedded in the firewall, located at all critical points. The floor board mounting and seats point are also embedded and double reinforced with wood.  Wiring was all professionally done top notch with self grounded circuits so each circuit does not have to be run back to a single grounding bar.  Dash knobs and idiot lights all work and are new.  Everything has new oils and lubes.  I don't know how many miles are on the motor or if and when it was rebuilt but it was recently upgraded to a Eldebrock 4 barrel carburetor, the distributor rebuilt and tuned up by Tommy King, a well respected Houston area tuner. It really runs strong and sounds fantastic. If you have any questions or want additional pictures please feel free to contact me.

Some of the renovation included the following:

  • Fiberglass tub from 4wd hardware, herculined interior, enamel black paint sealed underside and firewall
  • Wrangler doors
  • Wrangler family bar and seat belts
  • 304 V8 with Eldebrock Performer intake and brand new Eldebrock 4 barrel carburetor
  • Manual 5 Spd
  • Heat works
  • New lockable console
  • New wiring harness and fuse block from Kwik Wire. Grounded loom option.
  • New Rugged Ridge black denim weather resistant "wipe off" seats (w/recline)
  • New fuel pump and lines
  • New brakes, pads, lines, calipers, rotors, cylinders, new e-brake linkages all recently service by local brake shop
  • New u joints
  • New 33 x 12.5 Khumos
  • New steering linkage and tie rod ends
  • New windshield
  • New Superwinch hubs
  • New paint (New Chrysler Orange Crush color on new Jeeps and Dodges)
  • New Bikini top
  • Fresh Tune up from respected Houston mechanic, Tommy King.

Note: the color is a rich orange as shown the pictures from a distance. The pictures of the engine and interior show the exterior color looking washed out. I think this is because my camera was focused on the darker color for those shots in the sun.

Why Mopar won't release a factory lift kit for the new Jeep Cherokee

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

The Jeep Cherokee Dakar concept showed off at the 2014 Easter Jeep Safari made a lot of online friends, even the Cherokee naysayers assenting that there's a monster Jeep underneath the Cherokee's skin if you're willing to go in and get it. But after reading Road & Track's write-up of what went into creating the Dakar, particularly its lift, you'll understand why you'll probably never see the components for it in the Jeep Performance Parts catalog.
The concept's press release mentions a "prototype Jeep Performance Parts lift kit, and additional suspension modifications." The short-story explanation is that the front struts on the standard Cherokee weren't engineered to accept any amount of lift, so the long story begins with the phrase, "an entirely new suspension." Head over to RT to read the details, and don't be afraid to ogle the Cherokee Dakar gallery and another awesome Jeep fancy that won't likely crawl over the hurdles imposed by production reality.

Feds accuse Fiat Chrysler, UAW of conspiring to break labor laws

Wed, Jun 13 2018

DETROIT — Top officials of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the United Auto Workers union conspired to violate U.S. labor laws, federal prosecutors alleged in a court document, saying a former executive at the automaker knew bribes paid to union leaders were designed to "grease the skids" in labor negotiations. U.S. Justice Department officials for the first time called the company and the union "co-conspirators" in a document related to a guilty plea agreed by former Fiat Chrysler director of employee relations Michael Brown. The document was filed with the U.S. District Court in Detroit on May 25. Its contents were reported by the Detroit News on Wednesday. Brown pleaded guilty to one count of concealing a felony. The plea agreement stated that he knew Fiat Chrysler executives authorized $1.5 million in improper payments and travel, liquor, cigars and other goods for UAW officials who served on the union's negotiating committee. Prosecutors say FCA executives paid UAW representatives to influence union business. including collective bargaining on contracts ratified in 2011 and 2015. The government contends money was run through the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center, via false charitable donations and training center credit cards. Fiat Chrysler Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne has said in the past that the misconduct "had nothing whatsoever to do with the collective bargaining process" and the "egregious acts were neither known to nor sanctioned" by the company. Fiat Chrysler had no further comment Monday. Outgoing UAW President Dennis Williams told union leaders at a conference in Detroit on Monday "our leadership team had no knowledge of the misconduct — which involved former union members and former auto executives — until it was brought to our attention by the government." Brown pleaded guilty on May 25, according to court documents, and will be sentenced on Sept. 20. Five other people have pleaded guilty in the government's ongoing investigation into the UAW and Fiat Chrysler, including the wife of a late UAW official, two other former UAW employees, former Fiat Chrysler vice president Alphons Iacobelli and another former Fiat Chrysler employee.
