1985 Jeep Cj-7 Nut And Bolt Restoration Amc 304 5 Speed on 2040-cars
Hamel, Minnesota, United States
1985 Jeep cj-7 Renegade Chassis: Taken down to the bare frame. I have pictures. Every nut and bolt was taken off. The frame was sand blasted, then powder coated. I then started the assembly. I made a rolling chassis out of it. Grade 8 bolts where used along with stainless steel. Engine: AMC 304 V8. The motor was out of a 1979 cj7 with 77,000 miles on it. I took the motor into a machinist and had the following done. Both heads redone, New cam, block cleaned and decked. New pistons and rings, seals, D.U.I. distributer, with live wires, Edelbrock intake, along with all the other things Edelbrock makes for the AMC's. The motor was blue printed and balanced. Then put on the dyno for tuning. 255 H.P. at 5500 RPM's. 305 lbs of torque. I wanted a nice driving jeep. About $5500.00 into the motor alone. Exhaust: Stock manifolds, with custom bent dual exhaust. Porter Mufflers where used. It sounds mean. Not super loud. When you rev it up or get on it a little bit, you know there is a V8 under the hood. Transmission: Borg Warner T 5 tranny. I had the tranny rebuilt and the gears and shafts cryogenics coated. They say it should be 40% stronger. Then the tranny was dynoed. Works great. I love the overdrive, on the freeways. 2000 rpm's at 60mph. Transfer Case: Dana 300. Was gone through and put double lip seals on the output shafts and yokes. If ya know anything about Dana 300's they leak just a little bit. This one doesn’t with the double lip seals. Both drive shafts have new u-joints. Those are grease able. Front Axle: Dana 30 front axle. New Moog upper and lower ball joints. New axle u-joints. Yukon 4.10 gears with a Lock-Rite Locker. New wheel bearings and seals. Tie rods and rod ends. Front axle is all gone through and tight. No Cheep overseas parts. Rear Axle: AMC 20. Yukon 1 piece axle shafts. 4.10 gears. Auburn locking rear diff. Rear bearings and seals replaced. Brakes adjusted. Brakes: New master cylinder, NOT a remanufactured one. New Stainless steel hard lines, and flex lines. New parking brake cables. Brakes work great. As they should, everything is new. Fuel Tank: 20 gallon fuel tank, with new sending unit and pick up screen. Sand blasted and painted skid plate. Suspension: Pro Comp 2.5" lift springs. Pro Comp shocks painted black. Daystar towable front shackles. Rear Daystar shackles. Daystar main eye grease able bolts. Greaseable shackle bolts. All polyurethane bushings. The jeep rides really good. New poly sway bar bushing. Quick disconnects. Tires: BF Goodrich All Terrains. 33x12.50R15. Perfect shape with 2000 miles on them. Rims: Factory 15x7 rims. Powder coated Metallic silver. Very nice and clean rims. You can still see the stampings on the back of them. Mcguard, life time lug nuts. Good center caps. I haven't seen perfect center caps yet. Body: The body is nice and clean. You can still see every factory spot weld. Nothing covered up with body filler. Painted, factory Dark Honey Metallic. With PPG paint and clear coat. Phoenix factory replacement graphics installed. They look nice. I wanted to keep the body as stock as possible. Hard top repainted to match. All new weather stripping. Aftermarket bumper tire carrier. I wanted something that doesn’t touch the body. A 33" tire on a factory tire carrier is a little to heavy. The body was flipped upside down, sideways, you name and painted. Just as nice underneath as the top. No spray on bed liner or paint can special here. Super solid floors. Take a look at the pictures, Original metal. Interior: The dash is uncut original. Factory clock that was rebuilt. Factory V8 Tachometer, rebuilt. Speedometer cluster rebuilt. All items where repainted when rebuilt. They look awesome. Tilt steering column rebuilt. All gauges work and all lights work. Factory, original Honey seats. In good shape. Not perfect, but very nice and hard to find In Honey color. Tuffy center console. New Head unit in console. New dash speakers, new rear speakers with sound pods. Carpet kit is not original. I looked for a perfect one. I did not find one, so I installed an aftermarket one. Color is not the greatest. Heater has a new heater core. Blower motor upgrade. Works awesome. Tops: Hard top redone. Pulled out the glass and professionally repainted. Soft top. I have all the hardware for a Bestop Soft top. It was black. So I sold just the canvas. All it needs is new spice colored canvas. I do have a bestop bikini top for it. This is a great jeep. I wanted to keep it Close to stock looking, with some nicely done modifications and add-ons. I have all receipts for the jeep. Air Conditioning would be the only thing I would think about. Otherwise it needs nothing. If you want to look at the jeep or talk more about it, email me through eBay. I will give you my phone number.

Jeep idles second shift it hired a month ago for 2014 Cherokee
Tue, 24 Sep 2013In an unusual move, Chrysler is idling its recently hired second shift of 2014 Jeep Cherokee builders because, Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson said in a statement, it already has built the "critical number of vehicles we need to stock dealerships once containment is released," Automotive News reports.
After the "critical" 9,430 Cherokees were built, the layoff was enacted so as not to strain the automaker's logistics partners before the Cherokee is actually released. Chrysler says the temporary layoff will last about two weeks, with 500 workers out of work and another 600 reassigned at the Toledo Assembly Complex where the sports utility vehicle was being built. The second-shift workers were hired on August 19.
Chrysler previously insisted that it would release the Cherokee to dealerships by the end of the third quarter, and it initially planned to start selling the SUVs in mid-August. Apparently the Cherokee needed a software fix before hitting showrooms, which is how Chrysler explains why the release schedule is out of whack. We're thinking that this software fix addresses the "powertrain calibration" issue that delayed the first media test drives of the model. According to the Toledo Blade, Chrysler has admitted it is doing "extended quality validation testing" but refused to provide more information.
Chrysler recalling over 200k vehicles across its brands
Wed, 10 Apr 2013With more than 200,000 units across six separate recalls and almost all of its brands, it appears that Chrysler has officially jumped headfirst into the recall pool this month. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued three official recalls for the automaker, and The Detroit News is reporting that the automaker itself has announced three more.
The biggest of the recalls applies to about 120,000 Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 models for 2011 and 2012 due to faulty wiring harnesses for the seat-mounted side airbags, which could lead to these airbags not deploying in the event of a crash. A little more than 60,000 two-wheel-drive versions of the 2007-2008 Dodge Nitro and 2008 Jeep Liberty SUVs are being recalled due to a heat shield that could cause the driveshaft to break, which if that isn't bad on its own, could then hit underneath where the airbag sensor is mounted, causing the airbags to deploy. Wrapping up NHTSA's recall notices, about 20,000 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass models for 2012 are also being recalled due to a problem with the fuel tank transfer tube that could lead to the vehicle stalling. The LX car recall campaign is going into effect this month, while the other two will start next month - all three notices are posted below.
In addition to the official NHTSA recalls, The Detroit News is also reporting that Chrysler is recalling more than 16,000 Ram trucks and a small number of Dodge Dart sedans. Around 6,500 2013 Ram 1500 trucks will be recalled due to an improper adjustment of the parking brake cable from the factory, while 7,000 Cummins-powered 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks are being recalled due to an engine cover that does not have as much heat resistance as it is supposed to. Finally, a total of 46 Dodge Dart sedans are being recalled due to a problem with the brake calipers and/or parking brake.
Mopar teases four of 'nearly 20' SEMA Show concepts
Fri, Oct 23 2015Yesterday it was Chevrolet. Today, Mopar has dropped some SEMA knowledge, releasing a quartet of teaser images that give us some indication of what kind of cars, trucks, and crossovers Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram will be showing in Las Vegas. Like Chevy, Mopar's concepts utilize both production and concept accessories, although Fiat Chrysler has gone a bit more indepth on at least one of its concepts. Immediately, the most tantalizing teaser is the one shown above. Yes, that's the back of a Challenger, and aside from the bright orange accents on the gray body, you should take notice of the badge mounted on the spoiler – yes, that says "GT AWD." To be honest, such a vehicle wouldn't be a huge shock, as both the Challenger's LX platform-mates, the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300, are offered with all-wheel-drive options. Still, adding such a vehicle to the production cycle would give Dodge a leg up on the rear-drive only Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Aside from that concept, FCA has also released teasers of a Ram-based concept, a 300-based concept, and what we're guessing is a Fiat 500X. We can't wait to see what the actual Fiat concept has to do with kiteboarding. As for the 300 and Ram, there's not a lot of hints on what sort of styling details they'll contain. The Chrysler has additional LED accents and what we're guessing is matte blue paint, while the Ram is based on a Hemi-powered 1500 with Rebel styling cues. This is just a very tiny sample of Mopar's final SEMA roster, which include "hundreds" of parts. There should also be a total of 20 vehicles covering all four former Chrysler Group brands, as well as Fiat. Naturally, we'll have plenty to report on each vehicle once the SEMA show kicks off in the next couple weeks.
