1984 Jeep CJ7 Laredo

This 3 owner 1984 Jeep CJ7 Laredo is a beautiful classic and original rust free California Jeep.  It spent the last 20 years in the desert of California before I brought it back with me to Colorado in February.  The engine is incredible and has so much power that I can easily travel 70mph driving over the mountain passes here in Colorado comfortably.  The custom Rear Dana 60 Differential can withstand the power of the V8 all day long!  It is also set up to perfectly to conquer the most difficult terrain possible.  This CJ7 Laredo is ready to be driven daily, on the weekends or in the mountains and I wouldn't be afraid to drive this Jeep anywhere.

Engine:
Rebuilt 1990 Chevrolet 350 5.7L V8 with Throttle Body Injection.  The Jeep runs incredible, sounds fantastic and it doesn't matter if it is cold or hot outside it fires right up thanks to it being fuel injected.  It runs great, is super peppy and doesn't leak any fluids.  I recently upgraded the radiator with a new Aluminum unit and relocated the overflow radiator tank closer to it since there is no longer a starter solenoid on the passenger fender.  I also replaced the spark plugs last week.

Transmission/Transfer Case:
700R4 Automatic Transmission with overdrive is excellent.  It shifts great, without play, grinding, slipping or crunching.  It has a rachet shifter on it that makes shifting super easy.  The transfer case is a Dana 300 and has a small drip.  It easily goes into gear high and low range 4wheel drive.

Drivetrain/suspension:
The Jeep drives excellent with the lift.  The front suspension is a reverse shackle conversion that makes driving enjoyable especially with a lifted Jeep.  The sway bar has disconnects which is great for off road driving.  Each leaf spring has U bolt skid plates so you will never have to worry about breaking a u bolt.  The drivetrain is perfectly set up with ARB Air locking differentials, 4.11 gears and chromoly shafts and heavy duty ujoints.  The power steering is super sensitive and drives like a Jeep but seems to drive easy to me.  The power brake booster needs replacement.  The brakes work ok but don't have much boost at startup however after it is driven and warmed up it is much better.  I have driven this Jeep 600 miles without issues.

Interior Controls/Switches:
Everything in the interior works great except the factory tach and intermittently the windshield wipers.  Sometimes I'm noticing on the speedometer the ebrake light appearing at startup then goes away after driving a bit.  There is an aftermarket tach on the steering column that works great.  The sony CD player/radio is in the center console.  There are front dash speakers and rear 6x9s by the roll bar.  The Tuffy console adds security however I do not have the key for it.  The fuel, speedometer, heater odometer, blinkers, horn, lights etc all work as well.

Paint/Body/Rust:
The paint is the original Black and original Laredo Striping.  The paint is beautiful and very reflective, shiny and lots of luster but still 30 years old and has minor blemishes.  The hood has some small dings, a line crease from where it was rested on the windshield frame at one point.  The rear fender flares are a custom fit and from a Jeep Wrangler YJ.  The Jeep is rust free except for some minor surface rust spots on the windshield frame hinges etc.  It also has some rock chips on the windshield frame.  The frame is rust free and has never been repaired.  Behind the passenger rear flare there is some cracking, it is hard to tell if it was body work at one point or if from flexing the body off road but I am unsure exactly.

Interior:
The interior is nice, the front captains chairs are aftermarket black vinyl.  They are only a couple months old and in excellent condition. There is no rear seat or carpet.  The inside of the tub has been bed lined.  The dash pad is very clean and I do not have a rear seat however one can easily be added if you chose to want one.  You can get one to match the front seats too.

Soft Top/Doors:
The black Bestop Sunrider soft top is in excellent condition and was purchased 4 months ago.  The sunrider is unique in that you can open the front area like a sunroof without removing the entire top.  The original doors do not have any rust, the windows roll up and down very easily.  Unfortunately I do not have a key for the doors.  The wing windows open and close with ease and the seal tight. The doors interior panels are great, both door have a few scratches, sand chips and the drivers side has a little defect pushed in (view all pictures).

Overall:
This is a beautiful Jeep and ready to go and a classic that is turn key and ready to go.  It would make the perfect weekend warrior, beach runner or mountain adventurer.   The CJ7 is used and 30 years old, it may have blemishes, scratches, nicks etc that I didn't capture on my camera.  Overall the condition is beautiful!  I do my best to illustrate the condition, I may have missed something so be sure to ask all questions you have prior to bidding or winning the Jeep.  The Jeep is being sold as is, where is, without warranty or guarantees.  I am not required for your state emission or safety inspections including Colorado.

Shipping:
If you are out of state and need to have this Jeep shipped, call M&E Auto Transport #606-354-3643.  Michael is great to work with and offers competitive pricing, quick pickup and delivery.  He helped me ship this Jeep back to Colorado from California in February.

Conclusion:
A $500 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction via paypal.  All sales are final.  The final payment must be received within 7 days of auction end time.  Payment options include cash upon pickup, Electronic Bank Transfer or Wire Transfer.  I have sold multiple cars on ebay and can provide references if necessary.  I reserve the right to remove the auction at anytime as this Jeep is listed for sale locally as well.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the all-wheel-drive Hellcat you've been waiting for

Sun, Apr 9 2017

If the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was the venerable SUV cranked to 10, the new Trackhawk goes to 11. Actually, make that 707, because the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a Hellcat by another name. Under the hood is the same 707-horsepower supercharged V8 from the sinister corporate cousins Charger and Challenger. The torque rating drops just a bit to 645 pound feet, versus the 650 of the Hellcats, but we don't think many people will be too upset. Especially since Jeep claims the Trackhawk is capable of a 3.5-second 0-60 mph run and a quarter-mile time of 11.6 seconds. The former is right in line with the Challenger Hellcat. View 24 Photos The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk also offers a unique difference to the Hellcats, and its not the SUV body style. The Trackhawk is all-wheel-drive. Power goes from the supercharged V8 to an 8-speed automatic and a single-speed transfer case. There's also an electronic limited slip differential at the back. Jeep beefed up the transfer case with a wider chain that features forged sprockets. The rear drive shaft and half shafts have been strengthened to handle the extra power. Power is split 40/60 front and rear in the default automatic setting, and becomes more rear biased in more aggressive driving modes. In the sportiest "Track" mode, power is split 30/70. In the least aggressive "Snow" mode, power is split 50/50. The sportier drive modes also firm up suspension and decreases shift times. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Helping manage all the power is a high-performance suspension with adaptive Bilstein shocks. The suspension lowers the SUV a full inch compared with normal Grand Cherokees. Wheels are 20 inches in diameter and 10 inches wide wrapped in 295-millimeter wide tires, either all-seasons or optional three-seasons. An optional forged set of wheels is available, too, which Jeep says will save 12 pounds of weight. The wheels are stopped by Brembo six-piston calipers and 15.75-inch rotors up front, and four-piston calipers and 13.73-inch rotors out back. Jeep says the front brakes are the largest ever fitted to one of its vehicles. Visually, you'll be hard-pressed to tell a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk from the current SRT variant. The bumpers and fender flares are roughly the same. But a tell-tale sign is the lack of fog lights.

2019 Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500X fuel economy revealed, slightly improved

Wed, Mar 27 2019

The 2019 Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X twins each get a new engine option, a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder. At 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque, it's substantially more potent than the 160-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter engine it replaces, and nearly matches the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine for power while beating its 175 pound-feet of torque. But we haven't known until now is how the new engine fares in terms of fuel economy. The numbers are a little tricky to parse, since both the Jeep and Fiat have changed what transmissions are available, as well as what combinations of engine and driveline are offered. We'll start with looking at the Jeep Renegade. It offers both the new turbo engine and the old 2.4-liter engine, but the manual transmission is gone, and the Renegade Trailhawk gets the turbo engine instead of the naturally aspirated one. All the numbers are below. Overall, the new turbo engine coupled with front-drive and the standard nine-speed auto returns better fuel economy than even the old manual-equipped combo. Both all-wheel-drive models do worse, though, with the automatic and the new engine than with the old engine with a manual. The new turbocharged Trailhawk also doesn't do as well on the highway as the old model, but does better in town. Fuel economy is unchanged for the 2.4-liter versions of the Renegade. 2019 Fiat 500X View 11 Photos The Fiat 500X range is simpler to follow, since only one variant is available now: the turbo 1.3-liter engine with all-wheel drive and an automatic. It's not quite as frugal as the fuel-sipping manual, front-drive turbo model from last year, but it does offer noticeable gains over the 2.4-liter versions. All the numbers are below.

Inexperienced Jeep driver buries his Wrangler at sea

Mon, May 16 2016

There's an old maxim in off-roading that states, "Four-wheel drive doesn't keep you from getting stuck, it just gets you stuck in worse places." The truth of this statement was perfectly illustrated recently in a YouTube video of a Jeep Wrangler digging its own grave at the beach. On May 11, a YouTuber named Dan M uploaded a video he titled, "Drunk guy doesn't know how to off-road and ruins nice Jeep." The video, shot at dusk on a rocky looking beach, shows a blue Wrangler driving out into the surf without a care in the world. Dan, providing commentary along with an unseen female companion, was impressed with the Jeep driver's dash at first. "Wow, he must do that a lot because he ain't scared of getting stuck or anything," said Dan. As the Wrangler got deeper into the water, the Dan's friend expressed her doubts that the Jeep driver would make it out, especially when the Jeep got snagged on a little spit of sand sticking out into the water. Dan wasn't worried, however. "No, he'll manage to get out of there, he'll make it out of there. He'll back out and get out," he said. Dan's confidence in the Jeep driver was sadly misplaced, unfortunately. The driver managed to get the Jeep stuck on the sand bar then made the rookiest of rookie mistakes–he just gunned it. "Oh man, he's done! He's done!" yelled Dan as the Jeep driver proceeded to dig a huge hole in the sand that sunk the Wrangler up to its frame just as the tide started coming in. With that kind of dunking, especially in salt water, that Wrangler was probably a total loss, much like the Grand Cherokee that got washed downriver last week somewhere in Europe.
