1984 Jeep Cj-7 - Fule Injected 4.2l, 6 Cylinder on 2040-cars
Grapevine, Texas, United States

This has been an Awesome Jeep for me and is the 4th CJ that I have owned. I am moving from Dallas to Center City
Philadelphia and it is just not practical. It is a catchy Burnt Orange, great for any
Longhorns Fan!! It is a rebuilt 4.2L with a Mopar Fuel Injection Conversion Kit installed. The kit from Mopar is based on the 1994
Wrangler and is multi-port (not TBI). It
runs great, looks great and is tons of fun on nice days. The Jeep is sitting on 35" tires and a
4.5" lift kit (I think- it was this way when I got it). I have never had it off road but if it is
anything like the others I had, you won’t let you down. With it will come a bikini top, wind jammer, a set of stock and a set of
oversized fender flares (neither are installed), original speedometer head and
a new dash pad that I never got around to installing (black). It has a nice Tuffy consul with radio inside
(I don't have the key to lock it), waterproof boxes for the speakers (was going
to put new marine speakers in it but never got to it - speakers work ok), and
the inside is coated with bed liner. The water pump and radiator were just replaced. I think it was re-geared, but not sure what is
in it. It moves pretty good with those
35's and will break the tires loose if you get on it. I got it on ebay almost 2 years ago from Erie PA and other than some small
upgrades and cosmetic updates, it is the same Jeep it was them with about 1000
more miles on it. The body is solid and
it has no rust. I think it had a minor restoration before I got it. I have done my best to describe it, but if you have questions about it or
want to come see/drive it, let me know. If
you would like additional pictures of anything specific, let me know. The Jeep is being sold as is. It is
well worth more than the starting bid and while I hate to give it up, I am
moving in less than a month. Buyer is responsible to pick it up. If you want to set up shipping, we can discuss
availability for me to meet your shipper (buyer must arrange shipping and is
responsible for the cost). If I have left anything out or you have questions, please let me know. I am selling with no reserve. I am
confident that the bids will take it to the price I am looking for. Also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. |

Anton Yelchin's family suing FCA over the actor's death
Wed, Aug 3 2016UPDATE: Anton Yelchin received a recall notification for his Grand Cherokee a week after his death, family attorney Gary Dordick told Variety at a press conference. Dordick called FCA's recall "way too little and way too late." The family of actor Anton Yelchin is suing FCA for negligence and product liability, according to Automotive News. Yelchin was killed in June when his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled away, pinning him against a brick pillar and a gate. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, along with 1.1 million other FCA products, is currently under recall for a poorly designed shifter that may lead drivers to believe the car is in park when it isn't. Vehicles affected by the recall are at risk of rolling away. The recall was issued two months before Yelchin's death on June 19. It's believed that this is the first wrongful death lawsuit related to the recall. Although the shifter recall is linked to hundreds of injuries, Yelchin's death is currently the only fatality. There is a class-action lawsuit currently being filed against the automaker. FCA, in a statement to Automotive News, declined to comment and said it had not been served with a lawsuit. The automaker continues to urge drivers to follow the instructions in their owner's manual and become familiar with the instructions that were included with the recall notice. Related Video:
Government Ending Jeep Investigation
Tue, Jan 21 2014The government is closing its investigation into older-model Jeeps with fuel tanks that could rupture and cause fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday it has "no reservations" with Chrysler Group's plans to recall the vehicles. The agency is expected to release a report on its investigation in a few weeks. The decision ends an unusually public struggle between Chrysler and NHTSA. The agency asked Chrysler to recall 2.7 million Jeeps last June, contending that their gas tanks - which are positioned behind the rear axle - were at risk of rupturing and catching fire in rear-end crashes. Involved were Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 1993 to 2004 model years and Liberty SUVs from 2002 to 2007. Chrysler initially refused to recall the vehicles. The company said the rate of fuel leaks and fires after crashes was similar to comparable vehicles that were sold during the time in question. It was the first time in two years that an automaker had refused NHTSA's request for a recall. Chrysler later agreed to recall 1.56 million of the Jeeps and install trailer hitches on them to help protect the gas tanks. The company sent notices to the remaining customers saying their vehicles were fine if they have factory-installed or Chrysler-made trailer hitches. NHTSA said late Friday that it has been in close contact with Chrysler and will monitor the recall as it continues. Chrysler has told customers that it will start installing the hitches soon. "Consumers should have their vehicles serviced promptly once they receive final notification from Chrysler,"NHTSA said in a statement. In its own statement Friday, Chrysler said, "We share NHTSA's commitment to safety." NHTSA's outgoing chief, David Strickland, told The Associated Press in an interview last month that Chrysler had convinced NHTSA that the Jeeps were no more dangerous than similar vehicles sold at that time. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," Strickland said. Friday was Strickland's last day at NHTSA. He is joining Venable, a law firm. NHTSA began investigating the Jeeps at the request of the Center for Auto Safety, a Washington-based advocacy group. "It is tragic that NHTSA approved Chrysler's sham trailer hitch recall for Jeeps that explode in rear impacts," the Center for Auto Safety's director, Clarence Ditlow, said Friday.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Deserthawk and plug-in models coming soon
Fri, Jun 1 2018BOLOCCO, Italy — Today at FCA's Italian proving ground, Mike Manley rolled out the roadmap for Jeep's next five years. Manley has been in charge of Jeep since 2009 and has helped boost sales to more than 1.5 million units globally thanks to the success of models like the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler and submodels like the Trailhawk and Trackhawk. Well, there's more on the way, including new sand-prepped Deserthawk models, the return of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer nameplates, and electrified versions of every model by 2021. While the plan for these next five years is a little less firm than the last one, it does provide the American automaker with some flexibility and breathing room. If you'll remember, by 2018 we were already supposed to have a new version of the Grand Cherokee as well as the premium Grand Wagoneer. Both of those are still coming, just not as soon as Jeep had hoped. Additionally, by 2022 Jeep plans to roll out two new three-row SUVs, new versions of the Renegade and Cherokee as well as the long-awaited Scrambler pickup. All in, Jeep plans to launch two models per year by 2022. That includes eight plug-in hybrids for the North American market. We saw one of the first Wrangler PHEVs at today's presentation. There are also plans to have a Level 3 autonomous vehicle on the market by 2021. Jeep will double down on its heritage, arguably one of the biggest things the brand has going for it. Its rugged image has helped boost sales in a market already clamoring for utility vehicles. By the end of 2018, FCA expects 1 in every 17 utility vehicles sold worldwide to wear a Jeep badge. The ratio should be even better for 2019. Related Video:
