Up for auction is my 1983 Jeep scrambler CJ-8. It has the original 4.2L 258 engine that has 149892 miles on it. It also has the T5 5 speed manual trans in it too. Vehicle runs and drives but it runs rough and needs a tune-up. I bought this jeep with the intention of making a custom jeep for myself. Due to some family related things I need to sell it. It will have a low reserve and I have the title in my hand ready to go. This jeep is being sold as is with no warranty expressed, implied or given. Jeep scramblers are rare and this one isn't perfect but it's a canvas for a jeepers imagination. The jeep includes the factory half hard top and the back window has no cracks in it. It also includes original jeep bimini top and half soft top (both are black in color). The half soft top has the hardware but one of the supports is bent. The previous owner replaced the windshield frame but forgot to put back on the channel on top for the soft tops. The windshield has 2 cracks in it. the wiper motor works but the wipers are not hooked up to the jeep. All the interior lights work along with all the gauges too. The headlight indicator above the headlight switch is the only one that doesnt work. The body has plenty of solid panels on it and plenty or areas that need attention too. The frame is rusty but it's solid and can be used in my opinion. The jeep has 3 new tires on it and the fourth has about 1 season left in it. The hubs lock and unlock with no issue at all. The original bed is gone and the previous owner put down steel to make it work as you can see in the pics. The passenger seat is in great shape but the drivers seat has seen better days. The horn does not work. There's a lot of potential in this jeep. the floor is solid but does have rust and some holes in it too. Tube steps are solid too. Below is a list of things included with the jeep.

new front leaf springs
factory half hard top
original jeep half soft top and bimini top
full bestop soft doors (tan in color)
full steel hard doors (locks and windows work)
2 generic seat covers (brand new)
2 haynes jeep manuals
original air cleaner assembly (no filter but could be useable?)
wiper linkage and wiper arms

The jeep is being sold with a low reserve and if the reserve is not met I reserve the right to sell to the closest bidder. The jeep is for sale locally too and I reserve the right to end the auction early if the jeep sells locally. The jeep is being sold with no warranty implied, expressed, or given. Any questions please feel free to ask. The vehicle is located in Chicago and can be seen in person if you're in Chicago. Please just message me.

Thank you for looking and happy bidding. Any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks

Wrangler to remain in Toledo but Cherokee is slated to leave. I'm Mylencia Gillenwaters and this is your Autoblog Minute. According to a report from the Automotive News production of the Jeep Cherokee will be moved to another state. To fill the void, Jeep might develop a pickup that would be built alongside Wrangler at the Toledo, Ohio plant. A Wrangler pickup is an exciting prospect [00:00:30] for Jeep fans ever since the Jeep Gladiator concept was first introduced in 2005. Jeep officials declined to comment on its production and future vehicle development plans. We will most likely get an official statement from the automaker when they wrap up negotiations with the UAW. Leave us a comment below. Would you buy a Wrangler pickup? Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?

Detroit automakers observing 8:46 of silence to mark Juneteenth

Fri, Jun 19 2020

GM Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing Gerald Johnson, right, talks with employees at the Fairfax Assembly & Stamping Plant in Kansas City, Kansas. (file photo - GM)     All three Detroit automakers are observing Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery, on Friday by observing 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence, among other companywide efforts to advance the causes of social and racial justice and equality. Juneteenth marks the date, June 19, in 1865 when Union soldiers, led by Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger, arrived at Galveston, Texas, and announced the Civil War had ended and enslaved African Americans were to be freed. President Abraham Lincoln had officially ended slavery more than two years prior via the Emancipation Proclamation, but Union forces didn't reach Texas until that time, so there was virtually no enforcement. The 8:46 timestamp is significant because it was the length of time that a police officer in Minneapolis knelt on the neck of George Floyd during an arrest, ultimately killing him and sparking waves of protests across the U.S. and overseas. Autoblog asked automakers about their plans to mark Juneteenth, what they were doing to advance the cause of social justice for Black people, and how many African Americans they employ in both blue- and white-collar jobs. We heard back from GM, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and Honda but not from Nissan and Toyota. General Motors GM’s U.S. workforce is 17.2% Black and 69.2% white, according to its most recent corporate Diversity and Inclusion Report. GM's total global employment is 173,000, and it says women and minorities represent 40% of its team of corporate officers. For reference, the Census Bureau says African Americans make up 13.4% of the U.S. population of roughly 328 million people. White people constitute 76.5%. As previously reported, GM planned to pause production at its factories on each shift today and observe silence for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. The company will also have a digital countdown clock atop the GM's headquarters in Detroit for the moment of silence. Additionally, Chairman and CEO Mary Barra has said she will lead a new Inclusion Advisory Board made up of people from within and outside GM to suggest areas for change and hold the company to its commitments to fight injustice and racial inequality.
