Up for sale is my 1981 JEEP CJ7 RENEGADE. The JEEP has a 4.2 258CID straight 6 cylinder engine with an automatic transmission and dana 300 transfer case. The JEEP has original LOW MILES (43529).It also has the original interior which is in great shape. This jeep was restored frame-off about 5 years ago and can be driven daily. It is a very reliable jeep. It has been off road and is a lot of fun. It still looks great but does have some scratches from being off road. It has a custom spring-over lift with newer wrangler springs all around and a custom shackle reversal in front. This JEEP sits on 35 inch tires and rides and handles very well. It can be driven on the interstate at 70 plus miles per hour with no handling problems. It has a DANA 44 rear with 373 gears and a DANA 35 in front and I will include a new locker for the front to the winning bidder. It has all  stainless steel brake lines. It has warn  hub locks in the front. As  seen in the pics this JEEP is in very great shape and an eye catcher. The frame and body are in great condition for a jeep of this age. Everywhere I drive it heads turn. This JEEP is being sold in "AS IS" condition with "NO WARRANTY".  This JEEP can be driven home anywhere. It can be shipped at the buyers expense but please remember it is lifted. You may look at the jeep by appointment only. My name is MIKE and phone number is 443-553-2712. Please feel free to call anytime. I am a truck driver  and may not be able answer so please leave me a message and I will call you back.  Im sure I have left out something about the jeep but it sells itself if you look and drive it. I do have a reserve on the jeep and will not disclose it so please don't ask. I also have a 304 v8 complete engine that I will sell to the winning bidder at an additional $500.00.

2014 Jeep Compass/Patriot sing their swan songs with a six-speed automatic

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

Unless the governor, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, gives them a reprieve, the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot are expected to meet their makers sometime next year. Should they perish, it's a shame that it would happen just as they've shed the continuously variable transmission that was their major bugbear, and just as the Compass has gotten its best looks yet.
Both will roll with a proper six-speed automatic transmission, courtesy of PowerTech. Noise-resistant gears and tuning by Chrysler boffins should alleviate the unappealing sounds that were given off by the older CVT. Unless, that is, you choose to have either model equipped with Freedom Drive II; the serious off-road package, available on both baby Jeeps, will still come with the CVT. The base transmission on the entry-level Sport trim remains the five-speed manual.
Otherwise, it's minor changes for the Compass, set off by the new 18-inch wheel option, trim pieces around the car and a back-up camera. The Patriot gets seat-mounted airbags, but is carryover otherwise. With their expected demises perhaps a year away, not much has changed otherwise. Engine choices comprise the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque or the 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft.

Jeep reveals annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari concepts

Wed, 20 Mar 2013

Jeep has unveiled its annual spate of concepts before the Easter Jeep Safari. Those start with the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Concept (below left), complete with the company's EcoDiesel V6 engine. Designers threw in a set of 35-inch Mickey Thompson tires wrapped around 17-inch Rubicon wheels, and a set of custom fender flares help keep all that rubber under wraps.
Meanwhile, the Wrangler Mopar Recon (below right) packs a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 good for 470 horsepower. All that grunt gets to the ground via a five-speed automatic transmission and a set of a Dana 60 axles frond and rear with 4.10 gears. The Recon also makes use of a 4.5-inch prototype long-arm kit and a set of prototype eight-lug bead lock wheels.
The Wrangler Stitch (below left) builds on the momentum of the Wrangler Pork Chop Concept. Engineers once again set out to strike as much weight as possible from the vehicle, and actually managed to trim the curb weight down to 3,000 pounds. That effort has given the machine the same power to weight ratio as the Grand Cherokee SRT8. Plenty of carbon fiber, door deletes and a chrome moly roll cage all help trim those pounds, and a set of DanyTrac Pro Rock 44 axles with 4.88 gears and ARB lockers front and rear let this machine scramble over whatever is in its path.

Chrysler earns $1.7B in 2012, revises product plans for US

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Hot on the heels of Ford's earnings announcement for the year that was, Chrysler today reported a 2012 net income of $1.7 billion, up substantially from the comparatively minuscule $183 million profit earned in 2011 when it repaid its US government loans.
Chrysler's good year ended with an excellent fourth quarter that saw net income rise 68 percent from $225 million in 2011 to $378 million. Where are all those extra earnings coming from? Market share, which Chrysler saw increase to 11.4% last year on sales of 1.65 million vehicles. In fact, the Auburn Hills, MI-based automaker out-paced the industry's market growth of 13 percent last year with sales up 21 percent for the year.
The company also revealed an updated product plan for its Chrysler Group and Fiat brands that looks all the way out to 2016. It's an updated version of the plan introduced in 2009 shortly after Fiat took control of the American automaker, and includes such new additions as an Alfa Romeo model, likely the 4C, to be introduced in the US this year, as well five more Alfa models by 2016. Likewise, Fiat will be growing by an additional seven models in the coming few years.
