1980 CJ7, AMC 304 (does NOT burn oil at ALL), Edlebrock 550 carb with K&N breather, headers and glasspak Purple Hornie side pipes, lifted 4", Bushwhacker fender flares, Dana 300 T-case (just rebuilt), Tremec T-176 Tranny 4 speed (just rebuilt last summer), 3:73 gears, Dana 44 rear (solid axle) JUST replaced pinion bearing, Dana 30 front axle, BFG TA 32" tires all around in great condition, aluminum wheels, excellent front and rear seats from BestTop (no rips/tears). Black soft top is good....no holes or tears. Passenger door soft upper zipper is broken. NO RUST! Not one spec of rust on frame. Small surface rust area beginning on rear under paint (size of a golf ball). That is IT for rust. NONE anywhere else. Has rear 2" receiver with working wiring harness. Stereo works and has front and rear box speakers. Entire inside tub is rhino-lined. INSPECTED and INSURED. This is my weekend driver and can be driven ANYWHERE the day you pick it up. NO ISSUES. The only thing that does not work is the gas gauge (gets 225 miles per tank of gas). THE HEAT WORKS STRONG! The CJ gets on average 20 mpg highway and 16 around town.

Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.

Jeep Wrangler's shift to aluminum could see production leave Toledo
Mon, 06 Oct 2014The Jeep Wrangler may be a timeless design, but sooner or later, time will run out and Chrysler will have to replace it with a newer model more friendly towards the earth it's designed to traverse. That will, it seems, mean a shift to aluminum construction (whether just for the body or for the entire structure) - but what will that mean for the Wrangler's long-time home of Toledo, OH?
According to the latest pronouncements from Fiat Chrysler chief Sergio Marchionne, the shift to an aluminum Wrangler would likely mean moving production out of Toledo. "If the solution is aluminum," Marchionne told Automotive News, "then I think unfortunately Toledo is the wrong place, the wrong setup to try and build a Wrangler, because it requires a complete reconfiguring of the assets that would be cost-prohibitive."
Marchionne also indicated that, were Wrangler production to move elsewhere, it would find another line to take its place in Ohio. "One of the thing that we are dealing with now is what else we do with Toledo that fulfills our commitment to the city and to Ohio. I don't have a doubt that there will be zero impact on head count and employment levels and anything else." Jeep has built the Wrangler in Toledo since World War II, with the exception of six years starting in 1986 when it was built in Brampton, Ontario. The complex dates back to 1910 and currently produces the Wrangler and Cherokee. Past products have included the Wagoneer and Commanche as well as the Dodge Dakota and Nitro.
