1953 Willys CJ3B Hardtop Jeep 4WD
There is nothing more
rugged and endearing than a Willys Jeep…especially one from the early 1950s
with some patina. This 1953 Willys CJ3B is almost completely original and has
acquired some battle scars over the years.
Nothing serious…just enough to add some character. If you’re into off-roading or just want a
beast to drive around, this Willys with a factory Hardtop, just may be the ticket
for you. I know I have had a blast with
it over the past 18 years cruising around my property high in the Colorado
Rockies. This CJ3B is listed with a
starting bid of $1,000 and a reserve well below what it is worth. The CJ3B was the first CJ Jeep to use the Willys Hurricane F4-134 4-cylinder engine. The 2.2 liter straight-4 produced 75 hp and 114 pounds of torque, which is plenty to pull this bare bones vehicle around, especially with the dual range gearbox which has low enough gear ratios to pull you up any incline you are brave enough to tackle. The introduction of the F4-134 engine required the CJ3B to have a taller grill and hood, which only increased the rugged and tough appearance of the vehicle. As testament to its ruggedness and reliability, the CJ3B model stayed in production until 1968. At the time I bought it in 1996, the seller explained to me that it was originally purchased new from the manufacturer in 1953 by his retired parents who used it extensively for their hunting and fishing ventures in Colorado during the ‘50’s and 60’s. (Their son had stored it and used it rarely after he inherited it in the early 70’s). When the elderly couple ordered it from the factory, they added some amenities to suit their needs. They originally equipped it with an exhaust snorkel for fording streams, and they added a winch onto the front end. The front had to be lengthened to accommodate the winch. The winch operates off the power take off (p.t.o.) which is engaged and operated from inside the cab. They also added a game rack and had the back end lengthened behind the cab for the addition of a small trunk (Taken off of a 1930’s Packard as I was told). The lengthened back end was also made to hold a couple of spare gas cans. They later added a windshield defrost vent from a military jeep. I removed the game rack and had to remove the snorkel because it had broken away from the tailpipe, but the rest of the truck is pretty much original and in the same condition as it was when they used it back in the 50’s and 60’s. (I can include the snorkel and/or the game rack if the new owner would like to re-attach them). The Willys still runs and drives just as it should, with a go anywhere attitude. The oil has been changed, new battery installed, and the brakes re-built so that it is ready for a new owner. It has less than 41,000 actual miles on it. There is no rust, and the body is straight, but the harsh Colorado sun at 10,000 feet altitude has sun-faded the paint over the past 15 years, especially on the hood and fenders. Please note that the 1st 4 pictures included, show the Jeep as it was when I first acquired it, and before I removed the snorkel, the game rack, and before the paint was sun faded. I included these 4 pictures only as a reference. This tough old Jeep can
be restored or left just as it is. Either
way, the next owner is sure to love it as much as I did.

Dodge, Ram, Jeep — Stellantis — dumped a ton of news: Here's a roundup
Thu, Jul 8 2021Stellantis hit us with an absolute deluge of information regarding its future electric vehicle plans Thursday, including a roadmap for each of its brands to reach a goal of making electrified vehicles 80% of the company's total global volume by 2030. We'll hit all of the highlights here, with an emphasis on those that matter most to the U.S. marketplace. Stellantis previews 4 electric platforms: Here's how they'll be used This is the method behind the rest of Thursday's madness. Eventually, Stellantis will migrate its electrified vehicles onto one of these core platforms based around a new common EV powertrain architecture.  Dodge will launch the 'world's first electric muscle car' in 2024 It looks like Dodge will invoke its 60s heritage (peep the illuminated "Fratzog" on the nose) for a new, all-electric muscle car. Based on the STLA Large platform, it's projected to have a 0-to-60 time as low as 2 seconds and a range of up to 500 miles. The automaker also hinted at a maximum power output of as high as 886 horsepower courtesy of a pair of 330-kilowatt electric motors.  Jeep will have 4xe plug-in hybrid models across the lineup by 2025 The iconic 4x4 brand will have a plug-in hybrid variant of every model by 2025. The U.S.-market Compass 4xe is expected to debut this summer, and the Wagoneer 4xe has already been announced. The Grand Cherokee 4xe will be shown at the New York International Auto Show in August.  Fully electric Ram 1500 will begin production in 2024 You didn't think the Ford F-150 Lightning would get the space all to itself, did you? Ram says it will have an electrified Ram 1500 on the market soon. Will it be fast enough to beat GM?  Stellantis teases mystery electric Chrysler concept This one's a genuine puzzler. We've reached out to Chrysler for details, but for now, all we know is that this all-electric concept appears production-friendly and will ostensibly ride on the same STLA Large platform as the Dodge muscle car.  Opel Manta E will be the electric revival of the classic German coupe We'll forgive you if you'd forgotten that Opel was now part of Stellantis, and with new ownership comes new opportunity. The company revived the Manta nameplate as a high-riding coupe/hatchback concept.  Fiat says all Abarth models to be electric from 2024 This likely won't matter much in the U.S. market, where the 500X will soon be the only vehicle it sells, but Fiat's performance division is going all-electric.
2015 Jeep Renegade brings the cute
Tue, 04 Mar 2014The jig is up, the noose is out, we finally found it: the Renegade that Jeep has made, retrieved for a bounty.
Okay, enough of that. Meet the Renegade - Jeep's cute little compact crossover that makes its official debut here at the Geneva Motor Show. We recently brought you a massive Deep Dive into what makes the Renegade tick, and we're now getting our first live look at the tiny Jeep, live from its coming out party in Switzerland.
With the exception of associate editor Jonathon Ramsey, who doesn't know what he's talking about, we at Autoblog are kind of smitten with the little Jeep - it's a really unique package, featuring details that really make it kind of special (notice that jerry can pattern in the taillights, for example). Jeep will offer the Renegade with either a 1.4-liter turbo-four (from the Fiat 500L) or a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four (from the Dodge Dart), with either a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic. There will even be a Trailhawk version with four-wheel drive - properly trail-rated, to boot. The Renegade also features a nifty new My Sky removable roof panel system, giving this little cutie sort of a baby Wrangler feel.
