2024 Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition is the end of the line

The Jaguar F-Type is going to leave us after the 2024 model year wraps up, but it’s not saying goodbye without a final limited-edition model. Named the F-Type ZP Edition, Jaguar will make just 150 of these throughout the 2024 model year. Why “ZP” Edition? Jaguar says itÂ’s a callback to the first race-winning “Project ZP” E-Type vehicles that were campaigned directly after that modelÂ’s launch in 1961. There will be two specifications for potential owners to choose from. The first is Oulton Blue paint combined with a red and black interior, and the other option is Crystal Grey paint with a blue and black interior. Both models will have Porcelain White hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors. WeÂ’ll also note that neither of the two available exterior paint options have been offered on the F-Type until now. Of course, the base car underneath all the appearance extras is an F-Type R with the 575-horsepower supercharged V8 engine. YouÂ’ll be able to choose either the coupe or convertible, and both body styles get unique 20-inch forged wheels with “ZP” etched into them shrouding black-painted calipers. YouÂ’ll also see ZP Edition branding on the fenders, sill plates and dashboard. Plus, each vehicle will get a “One of 150” SV Bespoke plaque on the interior. It's not due in theaters until November and it's not like we've detected any weaknesses yet, but here we are with another trailer for the upcoming James Bond film, Spectre. That is not a complaint, because it looks like it's going to be, as one YouTuber said, "Spectretacular!" We digress. This time we get a little more of the Aston Martin DB10, including the top line for the spec sheet: Q says it will do 0-60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds. Putting on the hat that lets us sincerely debate totally fictitious facts in a totally fictitious universe, we don't think that's fast enough to stay away from the villain's Jaguar C-X75, but it's not like Bond needs to when he's got flamethrowers. Land Rover will downsize with a pair of hybridized turbodiesel sixes

Europe's automotive industry has ground to a halt, but the strict emissions regulations that went into effect in early 2020 are still looming on the horizon. Land Rover is preparing to launch a pair of hybridized turbodiesel six-cylinder engines in a bid to comply with the regulations and avoid paying huge fines, according to a recent report. British magazine Autocar learned Land Rover has applied the mild hybrid technology already offered on the Evoque and the Discovery Sport, its two smallest models, to a 3.0-liter straight-six to obtain 300 horsepower. The company will also release a more powerful version of the six rated at about 350 horses. The former will be available on HSE, HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic variants of the Range Rover Sport, while the latter will be added to upmarket models like the HST. The full-size Range Rover (pictured) will get them, too. The sixes represent a two-pronged approach to replacing the 4.4-liter turbodiesel V8 available in Europe, among other markets. It delivers 335 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque, and it sends the Range Rover from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds while giving it a 7,700-pound towing capacity. These figures are hard to argue against, but it's an older engine that's increasing the company's fleet-wide average emissions output, so it has to go. The mild hybrid system won't power either Range Rover on electricity alone, but it will make them cleaner and more efficient; losing a pair of cylinders will help in both areas, too. Although Land Rover hasn't confirmed plans to ax the V8 or launch a hybridized six, suppliers have started publishing information about the powertrain, so its launch is believed to be around the corner. Time will tell whether it will appear on the current-generation models or their replacements, which are undergoing shakedown testing globally and due out in the coming months. Sister company Jaguar will use the mild hybrid technology, too.
