2007 Jaguar Xk Base Convertible 2-door 4.2l on 2040-cars
Brunswick, Georgia, United States
|
Nothing is perfect, but this car is about as close as you could expect for a used. It looks practically perfect, it drives practically perfectly, and everything works. The factory chrome wheels had some rust spots, so I just installed $5,000 worth of brand new chrome wheels and Dunlop SP Sport MAXX TT tires - they have less than 1,000 miles on them. I drive the car to work daily, so the mileage will change from the listing accordingly, but the round trip is only 16 miles, so it's not mounting up quickly. The car is located in Brunswick Georgia, and can be seen and driven at just about any time. It's difficult to appreciate from the photos, but this car has a metal flake paint that makes the dark blue come alive like deep water, and the finish is outstanding. I am the second owner, and have had the car 18 months. I'm only selling because I'm retiring within 2-3 years, and while I thought this would be a fun retirement toy, I now am too afraid of the economy to keep such an expensive toy - got to downgrade to something cheap and practical. The first owner was a lady who receives a new car from her grandfather's trust every 5 years. She put 42,000 miles on it in 5 years, and it was pampered by the dealer. I have had to do nothing to the car but replace the front brakes, and I do keep it garaged and serviced. NOTE: Please don't be put off by negative feedback on another car I sold on ebay a few months ago. That was a car that had been wrecked and rebuilt, sold with a "rebuilt" title, clearly disclosed as such, with everything described that I knew about the car's damage and restoration, and the caveat: this car is being sold as-is, where-is, so please come and inspect it before bidding. The fellow who eventually bought it bid without inspecting the car. I sent him an email and said that I would prefer he come inspect it, because I didn't want any misunderstandings. He said at the price offered, with the photos included, and my description, he was satisfied to buy without inspection. So of course, after he bought the car and had it shipped to him, he began to nag me about "things wrong with the car that you didn't disclose." I knew this was bogus, because he claimed several things such as, the car not only needed a front-end alignment, but the shop where he took it told him that "it couldn't be aligned." I sent him a copy of the receipt where the car had been aligned at a local new car dealership only two weeks prior to the sale, including the sheet showing the in-spec results of the alignment. He claimed the convertible top wouldn't work, so I sent him a copy of the receipt where I had taken the car to the Lexus dealer in Jacksonville only 3 weeks prior to the sale, where (all clearly shown on the invoice), I asked for a diagnosis, for "convertible top operates by does not always close and latch securely," and the report was, "right rear top position switch adjusted, top now operates properly." I could go on. While this is a much different automobile that has never been damaged (other than the minor dent I described above), and it has a clear title - STILL - TO PROTECT BOTH YOURSELF AND ME - please come inspect and drive the car. I will be perfectly happy to go with you to take the car to any shop or dealer you want to perform a complete inspection. |

Jaguar XF Sportbrake is the cure for the common F-Pace
Tue, Oct 25 2016Before Jaguar introduced the F-Pace crossover, the only way an American could get their hands on a long-roof leaper was to either move to Europe and buy an XF Sportbrake or pick up the rare X-Type Sportwagon on the used market. But now that the F-Pace is on sale, there's no need for a Jag wagon (henceforth known as the Jagon), right? Wrong. Spotted lapping the Nurburgring, the second-generation XF sedan transitions to wagon duty as naturally as the first-gen car did, promising a boost in cargo capacity without sacrificing the good looks of Jaguar's middle child. But the sloping roofline won't do the XF's versatility too many favors – as our spies rightly state, it looks like Jag's designers are favoring style over outright cargo space. Beyond the roofline, expect the new Sportbrake to follow its predecessor's example and adhere very closely to the XF sedan. Don't expect any changes from the firewall forward, with most of the changes above the beltline and at the tail, where Jag's designers obviously need to rethink the look to accommodate the rear hatch. The overall taillight shape should stay the same, while the lower bumper will carry over with only modest adjustments. Under hood, our spies report the car shown here is Jaguar's potent S trim, with a 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6. While it's a safe bet that Jaguar will sell the Sportbrake in Europe with all the lesser XF engines – not to mention R and RS variants – it's unlikely all three mainstream engines will arrive in the US. Oh yeah, our spies claim there's a chance the long-roof XF will hit the US market. We're calling it a very slim chance, though. Audi and BMW deported their A6/5 Series wagons years ago, leaving the segment to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The Volvo V90 will add some Swedish flair to the segment, but the bottom line is that importing and federalizing a new model to compete in a segment responsible for just 20,000 units per year isn't good business. Here's hoping Jaguar makes a bad business decision. 2020 Jaguar I-Pace Suspension Deep Dive | All kinds of weird and wonderful
Wed, Apr 15 2020I’ve driven the Jaguar I-Pace a handful of times, and it always proves to be an enjoyable experience. In case youÂ’re not up to speed, this is JaguarÂ’s dual-motor all-wheel drive all-electric SUV. ItÂ’s quick, it looks cool in a running shoe sort of way, and it delivers a decent 234 miles of range. Sure, it has its faults, particularly when it comes to the infotainment and climate control layout. But the electric JagÂ’s smooth ride comfort and direct steering feel are clear strong points, and its handling stays nicely balanced and displays sharp reflexes as far as IÂ’ve pushed it. That is to say, a strong pace, but nothing that would land me in jail. The suspension plays a big role in all of this, of course. I wanted to see what theyÂ’d done, so I recently put an I-Pace HSE up on jackstands and took a look underneath. Electric powertrain notwithstanding, I found this to be an utterly weird and fascinating machine.  From this vantage it is easy to see the big air spring (yellow arrow). The use of this type of spring medium allows the I-Pace to run at different heights. It mostly runs at standard height, but can also lower the car at highway speeds to lessen aerodynamic drag. ThereÂ’s an even lower mode to ease the loading of passengers and cargo, along with a raised-height off-road mode because, well, this is theoretically an SUV. It looks like it has a double wishbone front suspension, too, with a high-mount upper arm (green). But we canÂ’t be sure until we move in closer.  With the wheel turned, we can see that this is a double wishbone front suspension in the sense that it has a single ball joint (green) at the bottom. ThereÂ’s lots of nice-looking forged and hollow-cast aluminum bits and pieces, too. But it looks odd in some other respects. The lower arm (yellow), for example, seems to have a joint of some kind in it. Meanwhile, near the top, you can see how the tall upright (or hub carrier, if you like) is curved (red) to provide tire and wheel clearance. Use the wheel studs as a reference point and you can imagine how the tire assembly will nestle into that area.  The shock absorber (green) runs up the middle of what is a doughnut-shaped air chamber. A very tall tower of a doughnut, but you get the idea. But you canÂ’t call this a coil-over. Do I hear bag-over? Anyway, a position sensor (yellow) is connected to the upper arm so the height-control system can regulate itself properly.
Jaguar's EV future starts with three 'sports crossovers' in 2025
Sat, Jul 2 2022Who'd have thought Cadillac and Jaguar would have so much in common? Once paramount luxury brands that lost their respective ways around the same time, floundered with one not-good-enough product after another, and have several failed reboots on their resumes. Given one last chance by their parent companies to get it together, both committed to all-electric lineups. And both have made it clear they're targeting the super-luxe demo, with Bentley the marque that always comes up as the hare in the distance. Cadillac appears to have made an outstanding shot off the line, its Lyriq bringing home reviews worthy of long-ago Cadillac, the Celestiq promising everything we screamed for from Cadillac concepts like the Escala and Ciel. We have two more years to wait for what Jaguar's bringing, the English automaker not expected to show near-production concepts of it coming lineup until a "globally significant" auto show that year. Autocar calims to have a few more details out of Jaguar HQ about what's to come. The product lineup has been guesswork to now. Autocar says it's going to be "a trio of ... electric sports crossovers." If that's the case, that means the F-Type puts an end to Jaguar's run of sporty, luxurious coupes — for a spell, at least. According to the report, the new range starts with a model around the size of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo wagon, which is an inch shorter than a Cadillac Lyriq. Two- and four-door variants will offer single- and dual-motor powertrains. Pricing is expected to begin in the GBP80,000 ($96,406 U.S.) to GBP90,000 ($108,457 U.S.) bracket, which would make this EV the highest starting price for any entry-level production Jaguar in maybe ever. Right now, the I-Pace starts at GBP66,350 ($79,957 U.S.), the F-Pace at GBP46,250. The most expensive model among the range is the F-Pace SVR at GBP81,150 ($97,792 U.S.). It's thought the upper end of the lower-end EV could "push prices to GBP120,000" ($144,610 U.S.) before getting to the SVR trims.   There's no info on the middle sibling. The flagship is anticipated to start around GBP120,000. Two motors and all-wheel-drive would be the default powertrain, prices hitting GBP200,000 ($241,016 U.S.) for SVR models. The aim is to earn comfortable profit selling no more than 60,000 vehicles globally per year.
